OT: Pray for Orlando

Where does all this frackin hate in the world come from? Unbelievable.

Recently moved from Orlando to Jax. My heart breaks to see such a wonderful community attacked like this. Just awful. And to think it is related to Isis!

This made me sick this morning. After reading the suspect's father's quotes, doesn't appear to be terrorism like ISIS, but a hate crime against gays. 176 shootings this year so far!!? When will all this hate stop! Gun violence is not the answer.

He called 911 prior to the attack to pledge his allegiance to ISIS.

His father is a bigoted asshole lying for his son. As mentioned, the guy called in to 911 before the attack and declared his whatever for ISIS also. As for when this will end? It never will, not unless their religion is eradicated from this planet entirely.

Yeah... but his hate was directed at homosexuals... that club is a "gay" club. If it was hate against America he could have chosen a plethora of venues. It is like recruiting it isnt what he said itnis what he did...

I guess a good start was Muhammed Ali... I m going to assume African-Americans thought the same about white people for most if the United States history.

I m kinda glad that thought process didn't gain popularity...

I recognize that it was both hatred of gays and ISIS related. ISIS regularly kills homosexuals. I wasn't trying to imply that his choice of venues was random.

I didn't say I was advocating for that policy. I simply answered that that is virtually the only way this shit will end.

This is the literal definition of terrorism. He pledged allegiance to ISIS before commiting the attack. ISIS hates the political freedom that gays have in western society.

Again MG ..

I m just glad African-Americans never carried out this policy considering their 300+ years of history in the United States and suffering they endured at the hands of white folks in America. It was kind of worse than what has happened today. IJS

Thus is one of those instances were we are going to have to agree to disagree.

Do you realize in most Muslim Countries Gays are executed? They are either hung, burned or shot.

Ok. I'm glad that the AAs didn't do that also. What exactly does that have to do with what was previously being discussed ITT, though?

Ok so was it an anti-American attack or an anti-gay attack?... Granted terrorism is terrorism... but not all muslims are anti-American... or anti-American values. I am speaking from personal experience.

You are advocating the eradication of a 1/4 of the World's population because of the actions of some. As heinous as that may be.
There are Americans that say the same about homosexuals in America and thenhsve been 100s of attacks by Christians..

As for AA... the caucasuand are resposible for the slaughter of millions of Africans and AAs, there are some who have said exactly what you said about muslims, this will only stop when caucasians are eradicated.

As I was saying, I m glad, from a personal stand point that was never a popular viewpoint amongst AA.

Not every Muslim is an extremist who picks and choose parts of the Koran to justify their radicalism - just like not every Christian is a hate monger like these halfwits from Westboro Baptist, who pick and choose parts of the Bible to justify their extremism.

Nope... dumb ass people spouting hate and using religious texts to back that up. Ignorance.. it happens Stevie, in all religions..
Every religion has its crazies. Only one religion in the world is killing for their faith on a daily basis and that's Islam. If you want to debate why that is, whether it's Western imperialism in the Middle East going back to the end of the Ottoman Empire or the fact Islam happens to be in poorer countries, that's fine. But as far as Islam being the most backwards and violent religion in the world today it's not really debatable.

You used today, because if you go back throughout history, that isn't the case. More people have died in the name of Christianity than from these Islamic extremists by a multiple of 1000 (if not more). So, do we blame all Christians for that, or do we place the blame on where it belongs, those extremists who pick and choose parts of their holy book to preach hate and division?

Such a straw man argument. No one is saying all Muslims are terrorists or even a majority of them. But if you look at the beliefs that massive amounts of Muslims have, regarding women, gays, or anyone who doesn't accept their faith, it is truly horrifying. And this goes for Muslims in Western democracies like England and France. It should make anyone who believes in a liberal society cringe. As far as the Westboro clan, they are a bunch of morons no doubt. But have they ever killed anyone? How many are killing in the name of the Christinity on a daily basis? Is there a global Christian movement that seeks the anihilation of society?

Ok Christianity left the 16th Century. Islam never did.

True but Westboro Baptist Church is one family of probably less than 15 people right now that obnoxiously protests and files lawsuits. Once the grandfather died I'm not sure how many of them kept it up. A very small group compared to terrorist organizations like ISIS who have a large following.

There are still wackos out there today in every practiced faith/religion.

This thread though is evidence of why we can't talk politics or religion on the Alley. They are mostly topics that divide rather than bring us together.

I am going to move this to the Lounge.

I used them as an example, but they are hardly alone. Look at the Lieutenant Governor of Texas

Your examples are terrible. Muslims have ISIS and Christians have the Lieutenant Governor of Texas. Of course I know there are other examples but none that are as widely followed and violent as the ones on the Muslim side.

Backwards and most violent... based on what? News reports that you see on the nightly news? An interpretation of the religion that thugs use to stay in power and manipulate the masses. Yes I would agree that there are some who are not enlightened due to a lack of education. Many others are highly educated but use the teachings as a way to keep "power", whatever that means to them.

Yet the religion and techings in the religion do not preach hate no more than Christianity, Judaism, Hindu do.

I get it people are angry and the are muslims in the world that are going to attack us for being American, but as Americans and enlightened Christians are we not better in that we know better not to condemn a whole class of people because of the actions of some?

Based on events that happen every day. Based on mainstream Muslim countries who have laws that make adultry by women and homosexuality punishable by death. In Saudi Arabia, the headquarters of Islam, you can get your chopped off in public for practicing "witchcraft". I'm not aware of the Vatican beheading anyone in public. Poll after poll shows that a majority of Muslims agree with these types of laws.

Really...

Kony heads the Lord's Resistance Army.. it is Christian based and is responsible for terrorism and heinous crimes. The KKK, The Orange Volunteers in Ireland, The Aryan Nation movent here in America and the Christian Identity movement to name a few.

JFC, how dense are you? I very clearly stated I wasn't advocating that shit. Somebody asked how/when shit like this would stop. In today's world, the only way to make that happen is literally to just eradicate those people entirely. That would include hundreds of millions of innocents and that's precisely why I'm not advocating it, though. Anything else I can do to clear up my point for you, or do you want to just keep spewing random BS on some inconsequential tangent?

Again, methods to keep power. Paternalistic tribal societies that have used Islam to maintain tribal norms. It is about power. There are Americans that wish
we had arcane laws like that.

Ok so you weren't advocating that. I apologize for that. When you say thatbthe only way to stop it would be to "eradicate those people entirely", what do you mean by that? Not all muslims, not even a majority believe half the BS that is spwed bybthese so called leaders. So ues I disagree with the premise. If you mean eradicate ISIS AQ BokoH, Taliban and their ilk yes I agree.

What Americans are calling for the execution of homosexuals? And if it's about paternalistic tribal societies why are kids raised in middle class familes in Germany, Belgium, France, and the U.K. joining ISIS and carrying out large scale terror attacks?
