I believe, Trump's popularity, at least in the beginning, was more tied to Obama's anti-American divisiveness.

I am a conservative and yes I am voting for Trump (there is no other choice). I have a ton of conservative friends and many liberal friends (yes I do try to tolerate them). There is no contest on which group has more independent thinkers. Every conservative I have ever met (I am 51) all want the Republican party to be better and have many complaints with the party as do I and many times hold their nose and vote R.
I have never met one liberal that challenges the democratic party or complains about their policies, they just keep marching lock step to the beat of the liberal drum never digging into facts and consequences of policies. liberals worship their politicians like North Korea and China worship their dictators.
No place is the liberal bleating more evident than media, which is well over 80% liberal. They seldom speak out against their political idols that they worship. Only recently due to the abject failure, incompetence and lack of any intelligence from the "current" President and VP do they speak out.
I think Trump is an ass (as I have said before) yet so are biden and harris. So why don't you ever press the libs on here about voting for two complete asses like biden and harris? Is their morality more important than ours?
I’m telling you that you’re more likely to be accepted at a Trump rally regardless of your thoughts then you are at a Democratic rally. Do you really, honestly, think that is not true? Because there are hundreds of examples if not, thousands of examples of the truth of that statement.
Neither am I. As a libertarian at heart, I embrace mini concepts that would put me more towards a liberal mindset on uncertain topics. Hell, my family thinks I’m a damn liberal because they’re very conservative, but we have zero issues when we sit down at a table pray and celebrate holidays together.
In the end, despite my libertarian beliefs, which aligns me more of liberals on certain topics, I know, for a fact that conservatives are far more accepting of me than liberals will ever be, which is why I feel far more comfortable with the Republicans than I do with the Democrats of today.

Yes. Many working class whites and union members who traditionally aligned with the democrat party started voting republican in 2016. I think some were attracted by the personality and the protectionist trade policy and anti globalization.
