OSU Back-Up Jack Miller offered

Saw that earlier. I like it. But again....it's an evaluation. Billy doesn't know what he has right now. Hedge the bets.
An OSU friend said he had alcohol problems. I looked it up & he had a driving under the influence arrest. He completed 7of14, no TDs, no INTs

Whoa now....don't knock alcohol problems. I've been plenty successful as a responsible alcoholic.

Then again...I didn't have problems with it when I was underage.

But maybe that gives him swagger.

I don’t mind a “just in case we need him” former 5*

People need to realize he is a safety net. Not like Billy is claiming he is the next big thing. Just trying to have a roster that is balanced and prepared for an emergency

Its a backup option for AR when or if he likely gets hurt. I expect one of Del Rio or Kitna to likely hit the portal at some point as well. Maybe both.

Those meetings are this week, so I expect one or both to make a decision soon.

he plans to take Miller plus a low high schooler and then will look for his guy next year

Funny how its “trust Billy” until I don’t like the decision.

I can tell you I hate his offense and will complain (a lot) about it, but you have to let Billy do Billy. He will adjust and be great or we do this again. Either way, have to accept its his for 3-4 years and he is the one who is judged by the results no matter what our thoughts are.

I like his “take control and run it my way “ attitude. He obviously learned this from Saban.

Yeah, I don’t think anyone is touting this as game changing. Just really a replacement for Emory as the back up
Michi,

Comparing his stats to C.J. Stroud (see below) easy to see why Miller transferred.
But Kyle Trask got on the field because of an injury & the rest is history. AR15 has had several injuries, so hopefully, Miller is a good get.

"...Ohio State quarterback transfer Jack Miller announced he plans to transfer to Florida over options from Auburn and Oklahoma State among others.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound passer appeared in five games at Ohio State completing 7 of 14 passes attempted for 101 yards & rushing seven times for 22 yards and a touchdown Miller comes to Florida as a redshirt freshman.

Miller competed for the starting quarterback position before the 2021 season but the job was ultimately given to fellow class of 2020 enrollee CJ Stroud.

A redshirt freshman from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Stroud completed 280-of-395 for 3,862 yards and 38 touchdowns compared to just five interceptions this season, his first as a starter.

Stroud finished with 12 first-place votes, 118 second-place votes and 127 third-place votes for a total of 399 points & finished 4th in the Heisman voting.

Good!

I like the activity I have seen so far.

UF REALLY needs to get back to having a physical defense.

Remember all the big hitters we had?

Going back to Oliver and Williams, Lawrence Wright, Major Wright, Reggie Nelson, Bartley, Morrison, Spikes...it goes on and on.

As long as this kid knows that he is coming in to back up AR-15. Now if he is the next Danny Wuerffel then that is a different story. I dont know if Billy likes the running type QB or a gunslinger QB.

He is not coming here because Billy thinks he is Tebow. Its an insurance policy

And probably the only kid ever to drink beer in college so may want to steer
Clear
And everyone should know by now, that there is a rather large difference between drinking a few beers with your buds, and getting arrested for driving (DUI) afterwards....

#13 QB-PP Jack Miller 6-4 210 **** - Natl. 334 (0.8951) - Scottsdale, AZ (per 247)
He was beat out by fellow 2020 recruit for starter by 4-star CJ Stroud.

Jack Miller 6-4 / 210 per current 247 Ranking:
**** 0.8951 (HS)
*** 0.8600 (xfer)

#17 QB-DT Carlos Del Rio-Wilson 6-3 215 **** - Natl 146 (0.9357) Cartersville, GA
#56 QB-PP Jalen Kitna 6-4 200 *** - Natl. 807 (0.8609) - Bureleson, TX

I have no comment on him coming in, just posting some totally useless facts.

Tebow,

We know little about his offense.

IMO, UF has done much better using a gunslinger than a running QB - Kyle Trask, Wuerffel, Wayne Peace, Kerwin Bell, etc.

Tim Tebow ran for tough yards, but threw for impressive yardage as well

Hoping Miller is the same. LSU got lucky with their tOSU transfer maybe we will as well.

At Florida, everything is centered around the triggerman behind center. All of our Heisman winners were.....Quarterbacks! It remains to be seen what we will look like on offense in '22. If the ULL offenses are any indication, I assume it will be a mixture of spread and actual passing attack depending on who becomes the starter next year. Everybody loves AR-15. But if Miller proves to be that guy, then we might be going back to the future (i.e. fun & gun).

Actually, we know quite a bit about his offense. Have you not listened to him? Watched ULL?

We are going to run pre-Lane Bama. One back, multiple TE, no tempo, run heavy. Or in other words, Mac’s offense. (Obviously BN will actually recruit the right players for it, unlike Chump and Mac). Everybody gets pissy when you phrase it as “Mac’s offense” but it is the same concepts Mac used here. On more than one occasion he has cited influence of Mac

Not a ton of vertical passing, QB designed runs are very minimal.

He just had a one loss season and won the Sun Belt with a pretty mediocre QB.

And since he is calling plays, QB coach, etc I would expect little change

No fun and fun in the near future.

Think pre-Lane Bama.

Nah, we've been down that road before with Will Muschamp's dumb ass. That Big Dumb Muschamp football as we called it back then. I still remember being in the Superdome for the Sugar Bowl beatdown we suffered against Louisville. Three yards and a cloud of dust. I stood there on the sidelines wanting to kick his ass after he bragged in the Times Picayune newspaper about being physical and aggressive going into that game. Still pisses me off when I think about it.

Lol, at the Muschamp years.

Have you watched ULL? Listened to Billy? Unless he drastically changes something we are getting Mac-like offense, minus the inept HBC. Is what it is. Hopefully we do it well this time

I mean I'll have to look again but I thought I saw it out of the shot gun, decent amount of pistol. Movement in the backfield out of the pistol. But again I'll have to watch again.

Pre-Lane was practically 2 TE single back and I-formation under mostly center.

that's not how I would describe Billy's offense, but I'll go back and watch the film.

Its Mac’s offense except Billy understands what he needs to make it work.

Everyone gets all bent out of shape assuming “Mac’s offense” means it sucks. No, it is similar formations and shifts and without tempo. Doesn’t mean it will have the same results, Mac was a moron.

Better way to put it. When we hired Mac I watched his CSU film.

ULL offense is damn near identical to that.

There was nothing schematically wrong with Mac’s scheme or offense. The problem was the OC and the personnel. If he had kept Grier and got some offensive playmakers it probably would of been a very good offense. We saw glimpses of it prior to Grier leaving. Then once Grier left he never got a decent QB.

That’s why I hate saying “Mac’s offense”

But that is what it is. Just run by competent people instead of those clowns.
