non FB subject - Marco Rubio

Cruz is the guy I like best. I really like his long term tactical and strategic thinking.

I find him to be an unctuous oil slick. He's probably the most disliked guy in the Senate. His colleagues by and large detest him. But he is smart, he's singularly focused, and he doesn't care what they think of him.
In other words he's a Hispanic Barry Soetero.

No, he's not. A good friend with whom I attended law school (and the guy is brilliant) is on his campaign. So I get to hear about a lot of the inner workings of why and what he does. He thinks long term. There is a purpose to everything he does. He doesn't do random.

If you really think that comparison of Cruz is accurate then it would describe me. As I'm a pretty smart guy (not near in the same league as Cruz), very focused and I don't give a shit what anyone thinks of me. And we both know you'd NEVER compare me to Obama, would you? No.

Cruz is abrasive because he doesn't give a shit about anything except accomplishing his goals. I find that an admirable quality. I don't kiss ass. For anyone. Ever. It means I don't get invited to a lot of social engagements, but that doesn't matter to me.

People who don't give a damn what others think about them are often odd-man-out. Society at large resents the hell out of people who don't clamor for its acceptance.

Perhaps you should examine why being liked by people who routinely talk badly about you behind your back and will succumb to pressure from the mob regarding their behavior is so important to you. Frankly, I find that to be very twisted.

Space, if not for the friend on his campaign do you think you would find yourself in Camp Cruz?

Rubio has a terrible record of not showing up for votes in the Senate. He's flip-flopped on immigration and he's weak on a number of other issues. Donald Trump has exposed the GOP candidates for the phonies they all are. He has solid conviction and wants to do what the government's #1 job is - protect American citizens. Both parties are taking this country down a path to bankruptcy and ruination on several fronts. I was raised a Democrat, became a Republican during Reagan's terms, but became an Independent during W's reign and can't identify with either party anymore. We're screwed as a nation. I would vote for Ted Cruz.

I know a businessman from Jacksonville. He just posted a pic where he was in the car with Cruz in Iowa (working on the campaign). This is not a guy that would just jump on any campaign. At first I was a bit surprised. I am looking forward to talking to him when he returns home.

I'm trying to see it with Cruz. Just hasn't happened yet. He honestly seems crazy. Certifiable at times. Trump does too but with him I think it is for clicks. I know I can't vote for Hillary or Old Man Socialist but things are clear as mud on the right for me.

Cruz is brilliant and driven. He's ain't the least bit wishy-washy. He has a plan and multiple contingency plans to which he apply to the given situation.

He has a frenetic energy level. That coupled with his intense focus can be unnerving if you don't take into consideration what he's trying to do on a playing field that cannot be described in any way as level. Ergo, win the presidency.

Frankly, I'm comforted by his personality. He's ready to live in the foxhole. This is the kind of leader we need.

I will open my eyes wider. I'm in Austin so you would think I would be more in tune with him. My Dad swears by him. I guess I am too caught up in Trumpmania?!

People misunderstand Cruz due the the soft spoken manner in which he speaks...he is very thoughtful, and he possess the audio equivalent of a photographic memory...so when he is considering a response, he is actually replaying the audio in his head....this was on display when he scorched the moderators in the CNBC debate, using their own words against them.

*So then you don't disagree that Cruz is all about Cruz. Look, that is not totally unique to the man, because the biggest thing any political candidate has is his or her own ego.
But at some point you have to understand that politics ain't a one man show, and sometimes you have to "kiss ass" if you want the other kids in the pool to swim in the same direction you are. I think they used to call it compromise. But the idea of working with others and understanding that at the end of it, you get most or some of what you want and so do they.
Cruz has a friggin chapped finger cause he has it constantly sticking up to see which way the wind is blowing, then he figures out what he wants to do and he's in essence decided that is okay by him. So he thought his part in contributing to the government shutdown was going to work for Ted. My f'n ass it did.
Does anyone here think that a President Cruz would get what he wanted doing that? He'd have to end up kissing more behinds of the folks he stepped on from his own party than usual. I for one am tired of that crap, and yes, so are others who are more right wing than I happen to be.
Sorry I'm using bad words. It might give someone the impression I'm not ladylike 24/7. Actually I don't care. Guess I'm like Ted in that regard.

As to Rubio's missed votes, it's been pointed out time and again that he hasn't missed as many as McCain or Kerry when they were running.

(not mad, just appreciate being in the lounge when topics like this come up and I can speak/write freely. I appreciate you all providing a soapbox that we can all use equally)

You're as wrong as wrong can be about your assessment of him.

Not going to argue with you. What's the point?

I'm never voting for statist RINO neoconservative. Aside from Paul (no chance) and Cruz, that's all of the other Republican candidates.

although he's a UF Gator, I'd vote for him. Very sharp young man. Think he'd be a good president, far better than Obama. Definitely prefer him over Trump & Clinton.

Good luck in your bowl game, gonna be an interesting one to watch.
I don't trust any of them. I also don't trust Trump but he doesn't really care about pacifism...which I kind of like. Prolly vote for him as it will scare the heck out of Washington politicos to have to deal with someone who will tell it like it is.

You reference an extreme leftest rag to back up your statement of "he's freakin nuts"? Really?
Well obviously any right wing publication would provide that information but just Google Ted Cruz crazy and a number of media outlets some more centralist say the same thing. The fact of the matter is those comments from the "leftest rag" are true and supported by other media. Facts are facts.

Right, because it could not possibly be that you only see what you want to see.
You are mistaken. I know that Cruz is a very bright man. Outstanding debater. But I also know his beliefs are off the charts (not in a good way or at least not in a way I would want someone to run this country). The good news is it's a free country (which I would like it to stay) and you and I get to go into the voting booth and make a selection for who will run this great country. Regardless of who is president, it will always be a great country!

Mehh....nothing Cruz said, even when framed the way those leftists did in that article, is even close to the insanity of progressives like Hillary. Bernie, or Obama....not even close.

I would like Cruz better if he showed up for work. And to whoever said if Trump was elected we'd be like Nazi Germany, you do understand that the NAzi's were socialists, right?

No, it is an opinion. Learn the difference.
