We are going to have to be a little patient with Napier, his predecessor didn't exactly stock the shelves for him.

I will be patient with letting him stock the roster and rebuild a winning structure.

And I am going to let it shake out, but there is some info out there that even has those who adore him uneasy.

I personally think he will do a lot, a lot of great things. Its his ability to check his ego and adjust that will determine his long term fate

but wether its 4 or 14 years, UF will be in better shape when he leaves

I hope when he leaves it's because some NFL team wants to pay him 22M a year to leave UF and his 5, no make it 6, national titles behind him.

some word he could be bringing more ULL staff than originally thought. Not confirmed yet (obviously)

And haven’t seen too many people excited he will be HC/OC/QB coach

I watched the whole presser. When did he say he was going to be OC and QB coach?

Did you watch the presser?

Q. Have you decided you're going to call plays or not? How does that affect your offensive staff?

COACH NAPIER: I'll be calling the plays here. I think it gives us an advantage, in my opinion. We're one of the only teams in the entire country to have two offensive line coaches. We'll have an offensive line coach and an assistant offensive line coach.

We will construct our staff on both sides of the ball and put a premium on the line of scrimmage -- the offensive line, the defensive line. The edge players will be very important.

And certainly when you're coaching offensive line, you've got to coach five players. Nobody's got one coach coaching five-DBs. I don't know why you wouldn't have two guys coaching the offensive line. I'll coach the quarterbacks with the help from an offensive analyst and call the plays. And we'll have the advantage of having two offensive line coaches.

Yep. And he also talk about the analysts and support staff.

Which is what I kind of expected him to do.

Granted, I take that differently than you do.

I don't think he's going to be "HBC/OC/QB coach."

I think that he's going to (also hope) coach them, because that's his background, but not taking on the full responsibility of them.

For instance. Saban coaches the DBs. That's his background. Does he personally coach them? No. He works with them.

Again i be curious to see how he goes about this process.
if he IS going to run the program. Run the offense,. personally coach the QBs with no assistance while also focusing on recruiting, then he's either the greatest coach of the modern era going forward or it's going to be a rough 3 years before we fire him.

It's possible, because of his age, he thinks he has the energy to do ALL of it, but it also goes against everything else I've heard about him.

All we can do is wait and see if he hires a QB coach. Because obviously he is OC if he is calling plays. But who knows, like I said its just a concern I have heard along with too many ULL staff coming

I suspect he will be the titular QB coach, but he will have a couple of analysts breaking down practice film and pointing out issues and flaws. What I don't know is the level of interaction analysts can have with players. Pretty sure they can't be out on the field coaching the players, but can they be in the film study?

They can do just about everything, except on Gameday they can’t be on the sidelines and coach.

Hes bringing two good coaches and some analysts. At least that's the word now. I'm fine with that.

Can't remember which thread it was just in, I think you posted it Paco, about him havin 40 analysts at UL and planning on having g more here.

My question is....how many analysts did we have this year? Does anyone know?

Danny, not sure on analysts. But I heard Mullen had TWO off-field recruiting assistants and Billy planned to have 20-25.

Paco may shed more light on that

I honestly don’t know but nothing close to 40 that is for sure. It sounds like things are really about to get ramped up here at UF.

Well. If that's true....it's baffling to me.

If there was an aspect of my job that was crucially important but it wasn't something I cared for that much, I would hire the people I needed to to completely cover it and report back etc.

Mullen disliked recruiting so much he wouldn't hire more than just 2??? Sheesh.

So my initial reaction was..."what ? 60?"

but are you thinking it'll be double the staff he had at UL?

Not sure of the exact number but get this. He even had “volunteers” on his support staff at ULL. If nothing else I think he will change UF football for the better whether he is successful or not. I do think we need a little patience though. These are things that just don’t happen overnight or in Year 1.

I think there will be some patience, especially from those who realize how bad Mullen recruited. At the same time I think there will be an expectation for him to evolve and change the things that aren’t working

Agreed. If recruiting is going very good I think (hope) there is some patience. We aren’t completely devoid of talent so I don’t think we have a total rebuild of the roster rather just a total rebuild of the structure of the program. I am of course very interested in the coaching staff he puts together. I like Juluke and Patrick Toney and I like that he is going to have 2 oline coaches. That is positive so far.

he addressed recruiting well. I expect a huge use of the portal this year to field a good team.

Sounds like he is going portal hunting. Unfortunately we need olineman bad as Hevesy was just so so bad at recruiting that position. I’m hoping that having 2 oline coaches will help and that worked out well for Meyer as well.
