Inflation in the United States, already at 40 year highs, rose to an annual rate of 9.1 percent in June, the Department of Labor said Wednesday. This is the highest rate since 1981.

I can tell you this, as I work for a manufacturer in the building materials industry:
1) 9% isn't even close. I'd estimate it's closer to 30%. This is just looking at our cost increases across many different types of material.
2) Dark days are ahead. It's going to get much worse before it gets better.
And there's no one on a white horse coming to save us, it'll take time to turn this ship around.

Seeing the hard numbers you posted - PAINFUL !
I live in Jacksonville & our electric company is City owned. They have the right to pass along fuel adjustments without calling it a rate hike or applying for approval; they did so & imposed a 10% hike in the fuel adjustment charge.
They use natural gas not fuel oil; guess that all hydrocarbons jumped in response to oil increases.
Not sure what FPL hiked but the bill has definitely went up quite a bit the last few months compared to what it is normally.
I don't think it has ever happened before; but if Biden's mess goes on, I think Trump would have a chance in 2024 election.
The Biden admin changed the way inflation is calculated, which results in it being "lower" then actual inflation.
I know there was a big change in the 90s that massaged the numbers lower but they have changed it even more to lower it? Its at least double what they claim.
