Since I posted what you replied to, I read that the helo pilot said that they 'had the plane in sight' - then ran into it. I wonder if depth perception was an issue.
Apparently it was a skirt flying the Blackhawk

Baymeadows didn’t exist when I was growing up at all and St. John’s Bluff was a dirt road.I didn't grow up here. Didn't move here until 1984. The southside of Baymeadows Road was still cow pasture then though. It was so long ago, Seinfeld was doing the comedy clubs on that road.
That's because every time there is an air accident, they study the hell out of it and make necessary changes. On average there are 6 million traffic accidents just on the ground with 90% of those crashes being human error. Also those crashes yearly take the lives of 38,000 Americans. With population growth and people flying more I’m amazed it’s been more than 15 years since the Buffalo crash that killed 49. Overall it’s still the safest way to travel and hopefully the FAA can minimize any close calls in the future.
How the heck else do you think I can afford the plane?I guess you, me, and Gray are members of the Ex-Club.
My Ex-Wife flew without a license
for years. I’m surprised the Military didn’t shoot her out of the sky💥
I didn’t think I was ever gonna get rid of her and then that nice little lady from Kansas threw a bucket of water on her.
Add me to the club. Do I get a secret decoder ring? 😁I guess you, me, and Gray are members of the Ex-Club.
This is clearly a tragedy. Whether it was DEI or suicide....
This is the third avoidable issue this month where it looks like DEI played a MAJOR part in incompetence:
1) New Orleans taking the car barriers down on New Year's Eve
2) LA Fire Department lack of readiness
3) Reagan National ATC 30% undermanned
That's > 50 American's dead in January 2025 due to lack of competence.
I'm not sure the ATC was at fault - he was overwhelmed with inbound activity due to staffing shortages....
It' a friggin' disgrace what has happened to our government!
I think that is false.
There was also a plane taking off at that same time, so its possible the Helo pilot was talking about that plane and not the one he hit. They are trying to figure out if the plane he was talking about was the plane he ran in to. I would say no. However how was the ATC not yelling at him about inevitable collision? I think there were more than one issue for this to have happened. Like a "unperfect storm" of events
They had an ex military pilot on the radio yesterday and she was saying that wind gusts can throw a helo around a little bit and that it could cause the helo to gain the 100 to 200 feet in altitude.
Not for nothing but the head of the executive branch does not need to be commenting on active investigations.
Looking at this video it really makes you think this could be a crazy act even with the night vision gear.
From what I gather so far, I think this to be most likely cause. I think a mistake controller makes is not giving a coordinate as to where the plane controller is talking about is. 12 o'clock, 9 o'clock, where? Could have made a difference. There was also a plane taking off at that same time, so its possible the Helo pilot was talking about that plane and not the one he hit.
We don't know the details of what happened and Trump is blaming DEI already. The guy NEVER passes up a chance to Divide and blame. This is clearly a tragedy. Whether it was DEI or suicide....

Any decent human being would have at least waited for a full understanding of what happened here.
And you never fail to pass up an opportunity to trash Trump so you're just as guilty of your criticism of Trump. And your statement that "Any decent human being would have at least waited for a full understanding of what happened here" is hilarious. Do you mean like Biden immediately going before the cameras to tell the world that those border agents will "pay" for "whipping" those Haitians coming across, an absolute flat out lie that screwed those agents for which they never even got an apology. So save your sanctimony. We don't know the details of what happened and Trump is blaming DEI already. The guy NEVER passes up a chance to Divide and blame.
