Basketball Micah Handlogten vs. Sam Alexis is the big difference!

I still say we beat Colorado in the 1st round last year if Handlogten were healthy. Their big man pushed ours around last year, and that wouldn’t have happened if Handlogten was there.
If we had this year's Handlogten I agree, that extra weight he's gained has helped. Last year he would get pushed around by bigs, like vs UGA.

Having another elite offensive rebounder always helps. Hope Alexis recovers from his injury, we could need him at some point. Can never have too many big men to rotate into tournament games.
Absolutely agree. 5 bigs and 25 fouls!

We can praise Micah without dissing Alexis. Perhaps he will see what it takes to succeed and rise to that level next year should he stay.
I have faith in Golden's development. We'll see an improved Alexis next year. You can't beat 5 bigs and 25 fouls. Add a true point and a sharp shooting off ball guard and make another run like this year.

What about Oliver?👀

Micah's helped the most defensively, He changes so many shots inside the paint.

Micah is the worst free throw shooter I've seen in a long time. I think last year he was sub 30% and might be worse this year. I think he's only made 2 and both bounced around and luckily went in. You can't play him in close games down the stretch because of it.

Did you see that big guy Grey on Mizzou? Only guy I've seen with worse form was Noah, but his shots somehow went in.

You are exactly right, Micah is more what this team needs at this moment and time but Alexis helped us get to the point that Micah makes us elite

I think Sam has a chance to work hard and improve his skills so we can keep this train rolling next year if we can keep all the eligible players

I feel like Klav gets mauled every time he goes in and doesn't get calls and then barely touches the guy he's guarding on D and gets called for the foul. He always looks understandably frustrated when he's out there.
Yes, he’s still learning the American game, but you can see the talent.

We’re going to have to pick up an experienced guard or two in the portal anyway so Urban still has time.

I like him, but I bet he doesn't play in some games during the tournament unless we've got foul trouble. He was a match up mismatch in Tennessee's favor yesterday. My guess is that they'll use him to squeeze 5 minutes real time rest for guys by inserting him into the game for 1-2 minutes before the TV timeouts for Walt.
Klavzar had trouble staying with Ziegler but who doesn't. He's been a good defender and won't see another Guard in the Tournament as quick as Zakai unless UT gets to San Antonio.

The crazy apart about it all is that they can all return next if they chose to do so. The back court will be a huge question mark. But that’s next season. For now I’m going enjoy this wonderful ride that we’re currently on. We just witness UF B-ball team take the souls of some very tough and gritty elite teams. At the end of each SEC tourney game, Missouri, Bama, and UT all had that look that just seen the boogeyman.

Last thing big props to Alijah Martin, he was just what the Doctor ordered. The gritty and toughness he brought to the table were both a huge upgrade for Riley Krugel.

LFG!!!
That’s the great thing about this team is we run so many at the other teams you better be ready to play the full court the whole 40 minutes…and at every position. The bigs run so well we just wear teams down.

We have such amazing depth in all areas. Truly impressive what Golden has been able to assemble.

Hope they continue to play every game with defensive intensity!

Clayton is my fav. His shot going in the bucket reminds me of Steph. Every time he shoots I think it’s going in. And when it does, the net barely moves. He’s a stone cold killer.

But this team is so fun bc we’ve gotten two years of watching all of them. Add in Alijah this year and we actually know all these guys like we did with the 04s

Of the bigs, Haugh is my favorite. Love watching him handle the ball. He has a really good shot selection, and his effort is relentless.
All of us can have a favorite but what we have is a really good HC, supporting staff and some good to elite talent that makes us a great “TEAM”

Handlogten brings a different element to the game. Our bigs are good but Handlogten makes it very difficult to get to the rim against. He is a difference maker. I love Condon but the growth of Haugh has been unbelievable. Talk about poor free throw shooting. Haugh was in the 40’s last year and is now over 80%. He can rebound, shoot outside and even run the floor. He has a lot of major potential. Reminds me a little of Chandler Parsons. I think he is going to be a star next year. Dude has been vital. The Injury to Condon and Martin this year really helped out some of these guys like Haugh and Klavzar and Aberdeen and it is paying off now and will big time next year. Next year we will be a threat too with our bigs and another step from Aberdeen and Klazvar. Grab a couple experienced guards in the portal and we are rocking again.

I personally think Haugh has more NBA potential than any of them. I’ve seen the mock drafts with Condon in the 2nd round, but I just think Haugh’s FT shooting and outside shooting this season, along with his relentless effort, are huge factors for his NBA chances. I think Condon can make it too, but I like Haugh’s potential a bit more.

Lee Humphrey was that way as well. I liKe Klav a lot, I think he's going to be a good PG.
Sorry Grits, hope I'm premature but I don't see it. He's played considerably more minutes down the stretch and hasn't played point yet. Even when paired with Zelle he's the off guard. He has good passing skills with assist upside but so far not much more. He's dead eye beyond the arc but can't create a shot and won't shoot when covered. He's a step slow on defense but recovers reasonably well to cut off the lane. I hope I'm wrong. With Walt, Ali and Will gone we need all the guard help we can get.
OT but still on guards. Brown looks intriguing. Little to go on but in pregame warm ups and the little PT he's had seems solid. He's big, taller than Ali and about the same weight, built like a bull and can sky. Don't feel he's a PG either though.

I see the potential. I thought he was starting to come along and thought he’d be ready next year, but I think he still needs another year. To me, Klavzar needs to be the backup PG next season. For me, we need a playmaking guard in the portal. Aberdeen likely takes Richard’s role as the wing defender with his length. The question then becomes whether or not Lloyd is ready to start day 1. If he is, you probably only need one portal guard with Klavzar, Ingram, and Brown making up your bench. If Lloyd isn’t ready, you probably need a 2nd portal guard.

I see 2 portal guards. A true point and a sharp shooting off guard.

I think we'll get maybe 2 Guards. Both will be guys who can shoot, that's been a priority for TG's transfers at G the past 2 years.

Both will probably be able to handle the ball, not sure he's worried about a true PG. He's shown what he can do with WC and most on here were questioning his ability to play PG heading into this season.

I think we can probably get whoever we want at this point, honestly....what kid is looking at our trajectory and going "nah, can't see it"

I know you guys like to "stay positive" when it comes to UF players... but the reality is that there is no way a guy like Alexis needs to be on our roster with all the talent we have and the way we recruit now.

There is NOTHING wrong with him transferring out to get more playing time.

He should probably go back to somewhere like UT Chattanooga and play there.

I feel the same way. Young coach who the players seem to absolutely adore and we play a really fun style of basketball.

Lol, wut? He's our 10th man. Can you name Auburn's 10th man? UK's? Duke's? St John's? Tennessee's?

You're making it seem like these teams are trotting out 12-13 big time players. They're not anymore. The fact that our 10th man was able to step up in some SEC games and knock down 3's when called upon is a big time flex by this staff.

Agreed. DA can drive to the rim and create and we'll need another Guard who can do similarly. Then we need another guy who can get his own shot but is a knockdown shooter as well. so I would think two Portal guards would do the trick with what we have coming in and returning.

You and I must have watched a different team play.

He was a huge drop off when we brought him in.... and we add Cornelius Ingram to the roster next season.

It looks like our other 4 big men will be returning... so there is no room in the inn for Alexis.

No, we watched the same team play. There was a dropoff. He was being asked to play the 5, which he's not. He can't guard the other Center's in this league. He's a PF, but without Handlogten we didn't have anyone able to play that spot.

Have no clue what will happen with him moving forward. But as our 5th big, he's fine, imo.

You and I are in agreement most of the time when it comes to basketball but even if Alexis moves to the 4, whose minutes is he going to take? I don't want him out there instead of Condon or Haugh, so unless one or both are in foul trouble, where are his minutes coming from?

He's probably buried for minutes as long as everyone is healthy. But I believe you need 5 capable big men on the roster in the SEC to play the way Golden wants. If he left, I hope we replace him with someone who's able to play.

He’s a junior currently though. No way he’s coming back to Florida to be the 5th big. He can go back to a mid major and be a quality starter for them. Then, we grab a transfer incoming sophomore to develop behind Haugh and Condon. To me, that’s what’s best for all parties.

Possibly, maybe he just enjoys being at UF and is willing to see how playing time is distributed next year. We'll see how it works out. But if he leaves, hopefully we replace him with someone who can come in and play if needed.
