Just a comment on the state of the mens baseball and ladies softball teams heading into tournament time. It does not take much imagination to recognize that both teams are having a little trouble with the bats. From a mens view point, we lost by far our best hitter when Alonso got his hand (wrist) broken and is probably through for the year. Some say he could be back in three weeks, I don't see this as realistic, personally.The last two games vs Vandy have been at best, anemic, from the hitting view point. The ladies are also having their troubles scoring a total of two runs against arch rivals Auburn and Alabama. If it wasn't for outstanding pitching we would probably lost both games instead of just to Auburn. The ladies have lost five games this season, Two each to the same Auburn and Alabama. I feel if we make it through to the Super Regional and into Nationals we will run into both of them again. I am enough of a realist to know that you get out of slumps just as easy as you get into them so lets hope we play our way out of the slumps in the regionals so we will be ready for the tough games later.
