McElwain is the first head coach...

Congrats to the coaching staff and players for pulling this feat off

Do you mean in his first two seasons?

It's a great accomplishment. I thought last week's win was the biggest win since Urban left.

Correct. First coach in SEC history to go to back-to-back SEC title games in his first 2 seasons.

That was just a huge win across the board. This year is even making me feel better about recruiting, because a lot of his guys are showing up in these games and making plays. Callaway and Cleveland look like big-time SEC receivers. Scarlett and Perine are legit. Even his defensive guys are showing up. Joseph absolutely destroyed Etling at the goalline.

I've been trying to tell y'all....

Larry Fedora named National Coach of the Year for winning the tie-breaker over VaTech to win the ACC Coastal. The rings are being ordered today.

Sounds stupid doesn't it?

What's funny is how I know this argument plays out.

"Winning the east is meaningless, we're just going to get throttled by Bama."

"Big whoop, it's not a real championship."

"Recruiting isn't getting better so who cares?"

Now. Let's say that in year three, Mac had never won a division title, would you like to know how those posts would look?

"Mac has to go. We aren't competing for division titles. We've got to get back to Atlanta."

"Winning the division is huge. Big time help for recruiting, no matter the outcome."

"We need to hire someone who can get us to Atlanta."

Of course, im sure that's not at all how it would play out...

Not to mention all those people planning for McElwain's firing next year will have to put that on hold. By winning the East again he just guaranteed himself a year #4.

An FSU win would would basically guarantee him a year 4 but if we end this season similar to last season with losses to FSU and Bama what makes it any different than last season especially if the recruiting comes up a little light again. We are also collapsing on offense just like we did last season and are now back to triple digit rankings there.

This FSU game is a lot bigger than some people realize imo. If we were to lose this game and the SECCG Mac would be getting a ton of heat if we didn't come out of the gate with a Michigan win next season.

Most people acknowledged at the beginning of the year that our record would not be as good as last year...

Most people didn't give us much of a shot to win the east...

Mac accomplished the only objective goal there is year to year....And he has now done it twice, back to back.

You have to give him credit for that.

That being said...our offensive coaching is abysmal. The team has looked like crap for the better part of the year. It is really a hard thing to reconcile.

Not me I think I was calling for about 3 losses pre-bowl game if I remember correctly which is still attainable. I am not sure what my thoughts were on the East because there was a lot of talk about Tenn actually being good this year which didnt materialize. I think my biggest miss was thinking LDR might be the real deal and that we would end up with a decent ranked offense this season. I guess we need to hope for Franks to help lead us to that now.

Nuss. The beginning and end.

My goal going into this year was for us to find our QB of the future whoever that might be and to improve the offense. Didn't really have any expectations for win-loss but I thought 9 was possible because of schedule. We're on pace to surpass on wins but the offense has left no doubt changes need to be made. If it wasn't obvious by now those last two drives against LSU left no doubt the man doesn't know what he's doing. He's a glaring weakness.

While I've been correct about most everything I've posted since the Spring game,,, not that anyone has noticed... :D

Now, IF they will just give the damn ball to Trask....

IF they beat FSU 10-7 and bama 14-10, then their offensive rating will get even worse. The question is, will any Gator fan really G-a-S about the offensive ratings, or will just winning the games be enough for a change?

This, last year he erased all the good will of winning the East in three games. But I agree he gets year 4 barring another complete meltdown. The biggest thing so far is he has not produced an offense. And next year will be his worst record at UF imo.

The problem is, there doesn't seem to be any acknowlegement of that from Mac. So while we are all bitching and moaning about Nuss and the Offense, all he says are things are "cool" and "special." What makes anybody think anything is going to change?

Nothing is going to change, you win the East and it doesn't matter if you produce an offense in the 100s

I thought the offense looked pretty good against USC, and I wouldn't be surprised if we look similar against FSU. I blame everything pre-USC on terrible quarterback play (except for second half Tennessee, which was the coaches' fault). With Appleby in there, we at least look capable of picking up some first downs, backing off the defense a bit, so we can run, and stringing some drives together. The offense just isn't going to look good playing at LSU. 'Bama didn't. Even at LSU, we ran the ball well and put drives together when we needed to. I agree that the timid play calling after the fumble there was atrocious, and playing to lose.

My thought is that he's playing like this because he has to, because he's so limited at quarterback. Maybe he recognizes Del Rio and Appleby's limitations, but he just saw them as the best chances to win the East with a running game and defense. When he has a quarterback that can do some things, maybe he'll open it up.

Florida will be an underdog in the next 3 games:

FSU
--One TD underdog on the road. Best chance for UF to win over the next 3 games.

Alabama will be a double digit favorite in Atlanta

Michigan--September 2, 2017. First game of the year and depending on how Michigan finishes 2016 and recruits UF could possibly be a double digit underdog in the Swamp.

CONSOLATION:

Florida State will face Alabama on September 2, 2017 in Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta and will be the underdog probably by one or more TD's.

I guess that a Bowl game to end this season doesn't count as a game in your estimation???

Hey totally clueless, the 2017 Mich game is being played in Dallas Tx, not in the SWAMP. o_O

So Michigan recruits so well that true freshman in the first game of the season will make a significant impact?

I actually hope this is true, because that would mean UM lost so much talent they had to rely on true frosh from game 1 to make major contributions, in which case we should win handily.

So Nick Washington is out with a high ankle sprain and Martez Ivey is doubtful with a leg injury.

We may have to suit up some of out 2017 commits for the game.

Shannon is not much of a HBC, but we know from da U that he was quite good at finding and developing linebackers.

It was just that play, but I loved the kid's bad attitude when he drilled the qb. That's the way Reggie Nelson and Major Wright used to hit people.

Instant...........

Oh my goodness! My bad. Well, that changes everything..............to possibly a double digit underdog in Dallas vs. Michigan.

And you are right as that will start a new season and the last game this year or possibly the first game of 2017 will be the bowl game. Either way it will be interesting to see who the opponent will be and who is the underdog. If it turns out that UF is the underdog in the bowl game then that will make it being the underdog for 5 games in a row. No real biggie..........just very interesting. ;)

One thing about it, the pressure will be on Coach Mac over the duration of the next 4 games and the critics will be boisterous. Good luck to Mac and the team.

The game isn't in the Swamp and Michigan loses more starters than UF does. Mac has no excuses going into this game as they both will have their players in place and UF returns more starters than Michigan does especially on offense and Michigan loses about as much on defense as UF.

Michigan will have two advantages, a returning starting QB and Harbaugh

I have to admit I was pretty worried about our situation after the Arkansas beat down...but winning against LSU and taking the East again was huge. We need to win at least 1 more game this year...we can't lose 3 straight. I think that we certainly can beat FSU...we'll see how we play. I hate all the the injuries that we have right now...we we just had 1/2 of the defensive guys I would feel better. Either way winning the east again after losing to Tennessee is an awesome job by this staff.

Correct. But he will have 10 starts under his belt v our starter who will be making his first start. Unless we run out LDR in which case I will take Michigan and give the points without hesitation.

I will be down about that situation if Franks hasnt passed LDR by the Spring game.

Yep hopefully we beat FSU but if not the bowl game is really big.
