Mac trying to motivate players by mentioning "death threats" from fans

Jesus Christ, I got nothing left for this guy, we gotta get him outta here, now..

He learned this little trick from Sumlin after awful losses

He could always go back to being a concession stand vendor

plenty of neat folk in that business

im literally having to explain to Gator fans why a 1-7 Fedora is much better than Mac, and won 12 games at southern miss, and 11 at UNC two years ago and got screwed in ACC title game against Clemson..

Fedora has already been here and had more offense in one half than mac does in two games.. I just watched the 02 UT game and rex still had more passing yards at halftime in a monsoon than we get in games.. It's literally beyond laughable to even have to explain this to anyone

So he won't give additional details to the university either? More convinced now this is just #fakenews. Pathetic. If this really happened and he won't provide details to the university then he's putting his players safety at risk. But of course it ain't about that, he was just looking for sympathy.

What this most likely is a an exaggeration of your general social media hate.

“Duke Dawson just blew that coverage. Smh. #die #bum”

“Mac Attack? More like #diefaheartattack”

“I hope that shirt from Belk strangles Jim Mac’s donkey throat”

Nebraska fans are seriously questioning whether they would even want him or not, and naming other average guys instead.. If we can't seriously get one of these guys already in the state at LEAST instead of a huge name, I really don't know at this point..

Mullen is gonna get a call no matter what, it's just gonna happen... Daniel can say all he wants as a brush up of bad feelings with UF, but he knows damn well the difference between the school and MSU, and the difficulty everything about that school brings to have long term success.. It's literally a 40 minute drive from Saban and Bama, I know all about that drive, iv'e lived it between both schools as much as any human.

Here is a statement from UF about Jim McElwain’s statement that he, his teammates and their families have received death threats. #Gators

Looking bad for Mac there imo

As pointed out a couple other places I have read, it for the first times appears that the UAA isn’t as “all in” on Mac as some had preciously led us too believe.

Lying or not, this is just a bunch of negative attention brought to the program the wrong way.

Death threats against his family? And Mac doesn't call the police? I don't see it. As we all have seen, Mac is a man of action:

You've got to be f'in kidding me. What a pussy. You don't want the mean tweets, rip up your contract and don't take the $27m you're owed. Go back to some middling crap program where nobody cares about your incompetence.

Nobody should be threatening violence obviously, but there's always a few wingnuts on Twitter. If it's a serious threat, then it should go to police and whatever nut is making it should be prosecuted. But more likely this is just the same sadsack, poor-me crap. I've had it with this yokel. Guarantee this ends up on ESPN. Gator fans end up looking like nutjobs, because Mac's feelings got hurt by people pointing out his obvious incompetence.

When the lib calls u a pvssy lol it must b true

The admin should force him to provide evidence of these threats and fire his ass if they don't find any legitimate claims. Otherwise he just brought a bunch of negative attention on the school and its fans which could end up being very harmful.

This could be the way they don’t have to pay him any severance!!!! I would like to read his contract…

Only question, wasn't Ed Zaunbreacher the OC that year? Dr. Bubble Screen

A lawyer could argue he only truly claimed his family received actual "death threats" looking at his statement word for word. Gives him an out I guess to refuse to tell the Administration about the "death threats".

man our fans are an excuse factory for shit results for these coaches, it's unbelievable.. This is truly what we've become

we might not get back to playing Florida football for a long time

Anybody with a brain could see that's what it was. That was his response to a question about the team's performance...what does receiving death threats have to do with anything? It was just more woe is me bullshit which has become so typical from him. "I can't do my job when my family and players are receiving death threats!" And yet, he won't cooperate with the admin to have the problem solved IF it really happened. Whatever.

Some possibly minor hyperbole by a frustrated coach.

Followed by MAJOR HYPERBOLE by a few media-morons, and by a small circle of hater fan... o_O

Adding up to, not much of anything of any real importance...

Never thought I would agree with you,but I do...

Yes our coach slandering his employer and the fans associated with that employer to garner sympathy points is minor. And then refusing to cooperate with the school to ensure the safety of the players (if these threats are real) is also minor. No big deal. Everyone should be cool with a coach lying and lignting the university's image on fire. Apparently the university didn't think it was minor based on their reaction. Maybe they're 'haters' too though.

Every thing I have read says a UAA who already dislikes Mac is upset. Now if Alien Boy wants to say its not much of anything, let him. But its clear from their reaponse UAA is not pleased. Whether he is lying or not this was handled very poorly and if nothing else demonstrates this job is WAY too big for him. This has certainly moved Mac out of the ‘cannot be fired this year’ shelter. But if thats nothing, then I guess its nothing. But I can guarentee Mac isn’t sitting on his arrogant high-horse feeling untouchable right now because he just made these next few games far more important than they were 48 hours ago.

Ooozzzing haters are far worse for Gator Nation (and on a constant circle jerk hater basis) than anything any recent coach has done.
PS -- you're a moron imo, but nothing at all personal is intended by that comment...

Mc-Solution for UAA -- Immediately hire Michi-troll/tool and Oooozzziiee as the new head coach and OC, they can flip a coin for who gets which job, cause I'm sure that they are both 'equally qualified' for either job. --- I'm all for it...

oh it's adding up big time right now.. everyone knows his demise just might have been walked into yesterday to give our AD an actual reason and excuse to look for our new coach before the other schools buy our next one...

The media everywhere is going on him hard right now, and calling for his end.. near

This is a good point. If he continues losing, the death threat story lives on: coach are you still receiving death threats? If he beats UGA this weekend, the narrative will be: he was getting death threats last week, now he's back in contention for the SECE.

Let’s see with Urban it was panic attacks, with Muschamp well he was just hard nose crazy as he didn’t know what to do, now with Mac he’s saying fanatics are threatening his family and players and staff… I guess fake news does make a difference only in the eyes of these Coaches…

At about the 14 minute mark Mac brings up death threats and then he avoids the law enforcement aspect. I personally think he is using this mess hoping the fans will back off him some. Law enforcement can trace down people's IP addresses etc. if that really happened.

Mac seems to love bringing up the human element and the poor me card when things go wrong. He should have never even put that out there especially if nothing is even getting reported to law enforcement. It makes you wonder about the accuracy in the first place.

If that was not legitimate and turned over to detectives of the GPD, to investigate, locate, and prosecute any and all individuals involved even if they were empty threats mostly then Mr Ed should held in askance .

If he is trying to shrug it all off and b e the coach standing in the breech protecting citizens of the Realm from mullet clad, Jort wearing terrorists in 1980's Camaros just to offer a phony stunt to get the team to concentrate on the alleged threat than the rotten offensive play is unworthy of anyone above Freshman and Highschool J/V coaches to pull.

Beneath the dignity of any P-5 coach. Or ought to be.

* Asked about death threats, McElwain called his comments "misguided remarks."

* On the death threats: "I feel bad sometimes for being open and being honest. At the same time, I've seen this movie and I understand it."

* McElwain said he would share details if the situation becomes "unmanageable."

What in the hell is this yokel talking about? What movie?

(fixed that for ya) ;)

#'s, Did Mc act all alone on this, or was there someone on the 'grassy nole' or on the overpass?

Is this anything like the 'fake-news' NYT & Communist Nitwits Network constantly attacking Trump with 'fake news' claims?

Only to later be shown their ignorance when it came out that it was the Clinton's (Mullen / Comey?) that were in league with the Russians, on both dirty campaign crap and money laundering. And then there's an illegal/traitorous U.S. uranium sell-out to go along with it? Just the tip of the iceberg that the demorats and the limousine liberals are, and have been trying to cover up to protect their own guilty butts, and to distract the clueless from seeing what's really been going on....o_O

IF the usual media-morons are attacking Mc now, then that's a plus for Mc as far as I'm concerned, not a negative.

It's quite amazing how mind numbingly stupid you are. Yea someone is behind Mac putting his foot in his mouth. It's all a grand conspiracy.

This sounds like some sort of passive-aggressive Richard Nixonesque code for "I regret what I said, but you horrible media people have it in for me, and you know it!"

I'm looking forward to his upcoming, inarticulate, rendition of "just think how much you're going to be missing. You won't have [McElwaine] to kick around anymore, because, gentlemen, this is my last press conference!"

He's unbearable. He can't even man up and say he overexaggerated, nah the problem is he's just too honest and these media people are being too harsh on poor Mac. "Poor me poor me!" He's a crybaby.
