LSU may go after Lane Kiffin?

Your head coach fits the bill. To be completely honest, when you guys hired Mullen, I was a bit surprised that the initial contract was $6M a year. That was good for 5th best in the SEC at the time, behind both Kirby and Gus Bus in Auburn. I would have figured Florida would have offered closer to $7M a year.

That's another reason to pay more for coaches: You attract better candidates.

You keep calling it crazy money, I think it's a smart investment.
Mullen never fit the bill in reality. His career fits the bill as a real good OC. I think even with his FL years his record against final top 25 teams is terrible. I would think it has to be well under .500 even here and at Miss State it was some crazy like 10% area success rate.

Forget Mullen (calm down). I'm talking about your head football coach.

So you paid Mullen $6M a year when you hired him. What if your AD had been given the go-ahead to offer $7.5M a year to Florida's next coach?

Then suddenly you have better coaches than Dan Mullen wanting that job.

If UF fires Mullen today and doesn't count on offering the next coach at least $10M a year to start, then you're doing it wrong.

I wonder how crazy Miami would get with Kiffin being that he shouldn't be able to demand money like the few very top ones as of now.

If we are offering any coach besides Saban, Swinney or Riley 10 million we are overpaying imo. The others can get that once they prove themselves a little.

I will laugh if LSU ends up with Mark Stoops or Campbell. If they did somehow get Riley that should worry the SEC a little with him already having that Texas pipeline for recruits.

Honestly it doesn't matter who they get. If those coaches get a decent DC and a good OC with some skill position athletes and a handful of guys for the trenches they will win 1 NC, the DC and OC will either get new HC jobs and go to the NFL then they will start the coaching search process all over again. The past 3 coaches have won titles there. One the GOAT. The other fair to below fair.

Yep LSU has won national titles with 2 turds coaching them. They just don’t have any competition in the state for recruits which just so happens to be one of the top 3 states in the entire country for high school football prospects.

I didn’t know Louisiana was that high on the list. I thought it was Texas, Florida, California then maybe Georgia.

It’s pretty high for sure. Maybe not top 3 but certainly top 5. But they literally get no competition. There isn’t another big school in the state.

If we could recruit our state like they do theirs quality and depth would not be a problem.

Well yeah but that's the thing. LSU is the only quality program in the state so they draw a large portion of players, plus Texas. Not to mention the mentality of Louisianans.

It's one of the reasons It's been baffling that it took Georgia so long to lock down it's talent.

Florida has the problem of having three major schools AND the rest of the power schools poaching for talent there.

Is what it is.

Even if they’re just in the top 10, knowing you have a solid core of very good players you can almost certainly get is a nice advantage. I mean, if Florida turned out half of the great players it does today, but we were almost sure to get any of those we wanted, it would still be huge. No other school can really say they have a hot recruiting bed locked down like that, at least in an almost permanent basis like they do.

I have no idea how to look up per capita but I bet somewhere somehow Louisiana ranks pretty high up there. Plus per Capita Mississippi produces some studs and LSU has cherry picked some of them. Of course TX as well as Danny mentioned.

Since Lane Kiffin is not in consideration for the UF coaching vacancy, is there any other school considering him at all? I haven't seen Kiffin's name being considered for LSU.

Ive seen it "considered" but LSU is classically botching this coaching search unless they e got something. If that they e been cleverly keeping under wraps.

I sincerely doubt that though. The school itself has a lot more to worry about than it's coaching search, in all honesty.

Curious just what the heck they are doing. If its not Riley they are going to look foolish most likely. Even Aranda wouldn't have been that bad of choice but it looks like it won't be him either.
