I saw this and I agree with Todd. The stupid left wing media always make this a thing.

You’re starting to clue into what the soft bigotry of low expectations looks like.

She whitesplained to a really talented coach why he should use his race as a tool. He’s just a good coach and doesn’t want his race to be a part of it.

My oldest was in first grade in Dallas about 13 years ago, he was 5 or 6 (he’s an Aug bday and could read really early). It was Black History Month. The teacher asked the class to name a famous black athlete and he said Troy Aikman. After she said that’s not right he said Roger Staubach.

After class she had to teach him the difference and why she couldn’t accept his answer. We had always raised him that everyone is a person and that’s what matters. He didn’t see differences in people for reasons he could only see.

I don’t know if I’m proud or not of that story, but that’s how we think and how we raised our kids.

Marybeth Gillis was the teacher’s name, and she’s coming from Dallas to NoVA for his graduation this May. We haven’t seen her in at least 10 years.

I think it's silly to say "we don't see color". That's impossible. We all see color, sex, race. Now I don't think you should define someone by their race, sex or color but you see it.

I like to use this example, if you saw a black man robbing a store, you won't tell the cops that you saw a human or that you don't see color, sex or race. You will say that you saw a black man.

Now when it comes to workforce, nobody should say "hey, we just hired a black guy". It should be we hired someone with these qualifications.

The problem with the NFL is the qualifications doesn't matter to the media. They just want black coaches and I hate it. Hiring someone based on race just bothers me. I don't even like that teams are forced to interview a minority. It all stinks to me.

I'm not sure that the point of that story was that "he didn't see color."

I think the point was he didn't really know what it meant and he didn't care. Some people are tall, some people are short, some are skinny or fat and others are darker skinned or more pale. To his son, that had little impact.

I'm sure that it didn't have impact but there is no way a human would have Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson standing next to them without noticing they have different skin color. My daughter is 5 and she already noticed that her father skin is darker than hers.

My heavens you are thick-headed.

AGAIN, I'm sure his son could delineate the different skin tones between a dark skinned black man and a pale skinned white man.

It sounds like his son didn't know that black men were called black or that white men were called white....and his son clearly didn't care about any of that.

It wasn't that he was incapable. He seemingly just didn't care. I could learn the differences between different species of butterflies if I really wanted to...I just don't care.

No, it's funny and also not surprising how you only see the point of everyone else. I agree with him that kids that young have no idea about what is black and/or white.

I'm pointing out that living in a society without noticing those identity things is impossible long-term.

Correct.

He was 5, only a few months removed from sh!tting his pants. 100% sure his eyes perceived differences but he didn’t know he was supposed to care.

Plenty of time in his life for him to learn that from society.

That's what people mean when they say they don't see color. Meaning, they don't define someone by the color of their skin.

Only the left, especially WHITES on the left do this regularly. The rest of us just see people.

The left does it to divide and pander. Most blacks don't want to talk about race anymore than most whites or Asians or Hispanics want to talk abou trace.

No one asks Tua about being a role model to other kids who are left-handed. Because no one cares. Even the left doesn't care, but that's because they don't care to pander to left-handed voters.

Mike Wallace interviewed Morgan Freeman once. He asked him how America should deal with racism.

"Stop talking about it! I'm gonna stop calling you a 'white' man, and you stop calling me a 'black' man."

This is only an issue for the left, primarily WHITES on the left. A bit surprised you guys keep falling for it, TBH.

You have good points but initally deflected to a place that OP wasn't going to.

We were talking about his 5 or 6 year old son. You were talking about society at large "not seeing color" and lecturing people that it's not really feasible....when absolutely no one said otherwise.

LOL...OK. Agree, a 40 year old person who isn't mentally handicapped can absolutely "see color." I'm not sure what that has to do with @fatman76 's 5 or 6 year old son.

Well done Kamala...you've accomplished yet more word salad ITT.

I've seen that interview. Freeman is a bright guy, and a hell of an actor. The quickest way to end racism is to stop perpetuating the narrative. The biggest instigator (and problem) that enable this to continue are white liberals by far. They just won't let it go, they use it to put themselves in positions of power (elections) and in the process infer that minorities are inferior and need special protections and privileges. If I were a black person or Hispanic, this would be infuriating. But that's just me.

White liberals are the reason we no longer have the Washington Redskins or the Cleveland Indians. Funny how, for decades, we had a black man dressing up as a Cowboy and a black man dressing up as an Indian and that were the mascots, so to speak, of the Cowboys and Redskins.

White Liberals always take social aspects way farther then minorities want to go. Hence, why Bowles was dismissive of that question.

Bring back Blazing Saddles!! 😂

Honestly I can't even imagine what was going through the black peoples minds as this was happening.

I bet it assuaged their white guilt for at least 20 minutes. That's something I guess.
Yeah ill never understand that one.
