Let’s Go Brandon - Parte Tres

I'm nodding...and pretending like this all made sense.

If this site allowed us to upload photos here, Rivals would have a serious bandwidth issue. There would be no free boards period. But because us freeloaders drive so much SEO (search engine optimization), it's beneficial to let us play in the sandbox. I know just enough to be dangerous but I'm a dumbass in actuality. If I knew more I could manage my own fishing charter website, :(

No it was hilarious I thought it was a dig at Ray.

Nope...I'm that tech unsavvy. I used to be pretty good at this sort of thing and then I blinked and it all passed by.

My son is now our IT guy. He has saved his caveman father from Hulk smashing quite a bit of electronic equipment over the last year or so.

If you embed an image or soundbite or video directly into a post, the isp that hosts the site has to store the data and use their bandwidth to transmit it

A hotlink is just the URL where the object is stored, the address. When you click on the link, it takes you directly to the place it was stored and then you use their bandwidth and not the sit you came from. That's why hosting sites are either full of ads or for pay now.

Have you been on Accuweather in the past few months (major facepalm now that photos aren't linking) The amount of popup ads (and ad pages has gotten stupid).

This I sort of understand.

I just always assumed that the "embedded" gifs that we post here use rivals/yahoo bandwidth since you don't have to click on them to view.

That's just how my caveman brain processed it.

Probably uses a teeny tiny bit, but not really measurable compared to the original content.
