Just sayin’...
If you're talking about the basketball game last night remember that it was a 7-9 Texas A&M team we beat, the only SEC team with a losing record. It was a nice 2nd half comeback, but we have to keep in perspective the opponent. I'm not a hater, but am a big time doubter. Let's talk after the next 5 games. Would love to be wrong, but I think they'll be 12-11 by then.

Correct we beat a lousy A&M team on our home court. A little early for celebrating.

First off, the Freshmen 3-Amigos...
PG Nembhard - 3 Pts, 6 Rbs, 11 Asts, 4 TOs, 1 Stl.

SF/PF K.Johnson - 2 Pts, 9 RBs (5-O, 4-D), 3 Asts, 0 TO, 3 Stls, 1 Blk

SG/SF Locke - 27 Pts, 7/13 3s (53.8%) 2/2 FTs, 2 Rbs, 1 TO

That's getting it done, with the position's responsibilities.

SG Allen - 31 Pts, 8/10 3s (80%), 3/3 FT's, 3 Rbs, 2 Asts, 6 TO, 3 Stls, 2 Blks

C/PF Hayes - 8 Pts, 6 Rbs, 2 TOs, 1 Stl, 3 Blks

==========

CG/SF Jalen Hudson - 8 Pts, 2 Rbs, 1 TO

SG/SF Ballard - 0 Pts, 3 Rbs,

PF/C Stokes - 2 Pts, 1 Rbs

PF/C Bassett - 2 Rbs, 2 TOs

Team -- 46.8% FG's, 48.6% 3's, 100% FT's
When the shots are falling, 'Life is Good' (as I've been saying all along).

Note: The Gator's 3 SEC losses have been by an Ave. of 5.3 Pts. o_O
And they were tied with #1 TN going into the final 2-3 minutes.

No Gak all season, no PF C.Johnson, and now no SF/PF Stone....

Always going to support the Gators, but realistically this is at best a fringe tournament team.

For older Gator fans this is probably closer to what Florida was like before Billy Donovan.

Ummmm...sadgator lived Don Devoe; this isn’t even close....

And Lon Kruger took us to the Final Four...
Kruger was terrible at Florida. Look at his record over the 6 years at UF. He had that one good team and that was it.

The 1994 Final Four run was one of the most awesome things ever...

sadgator attended the regional final game in Miami Arena against BC...

Still to this day, after all the huge games in Football and Basketball that sadgator has attended since that time, that was the single greatest sporting event and moment sadgator ever witnessed as a Gator...it was absolutely electric and glorious...

For the younger fans, BillyD's last season at UF was sitting at home with just 16 wins...
While BillyD didn't have a tourney team until his 3rd season at UF...

And oh btw, Mike's next class has 2 Micky-D's and a 4-star 6-10 dunk/block center...

You really have a problem with differentiating between the programs and situations that two different coaches enter.

Pitiful little attention beggar, kinda sad really, but here ya go,,, yet again.
Here to foul up yet another thread with his always village idiot smelly crap.
Both Totally Clueless and Boring is any ugly combination.

Never need to read his posts, because they are always going to be,,, what they are, and what he will always be. This asswipe stalker arrives to spread his usual crap, and to be the 'lonely despised drunk loser' that he is...

There once was a goater named dunny,
who was always trying to be funny.
But with his head up his butt,
and a load of beer in his gutt,
when it came to the girls he got nunny...

ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz

He bailed after the 1996 season with a 12-16 record and couldn't recruit worth a lick at UF. He even commented about not attracting recruits to UF a few times after signed with Illinois. Thank God for Billy Donovan for cleaning up the dumpster fire Kruger left and for showing Kruger how to recruit basketball players during the 2000 NCAA tourney.

2014-15 Season, BillyD's last at UF went 16-17, for a loser season.
======

2015-16, Season, MW went 21-15, 9-9 SEC and made the NIT Quarter Finals
(that was with no NIT home games due to O'Dome renovations)

2016-17 Season, MW went 27-9, 14-4 SEC Made the Elite-8
Mike White was voted SEC CoY.

2017-18 Season, MW went 21-13, 11-7 SEC, 2nd Rnd loss by 3 Pts @ Dallas.

2018-19 Currently 11-7, 3-3 SEC
(rsSr C Egbunu elected to go Pro instead of seeking an injury redshirt)
(Jr C Gak has applied for an injury redshirt, he's been out for the entire season)
(rsFr PF Chase Johnson did a mid-season xfer out, after his 3rd concussion)
(rsJr SF/PF Keith Stone just went out for the rest of the season with an ACL)

But a few blind idiots still diss on Mike for a lack of production in the paint...

Mike White's last 2 Recrutiing classes Include:

SG/PG Noah Locke 6-3 185 **** 64/100 - tFr starter
SF/PF Keyontae Johnson 6-5 225 **** 62/100 - tFr starter
PG Andrew Nembhard 6-5 195 ***** 19/50 - tFr starter
-----
CG/SF Scottie Lewis 6-5 184 ***** 11/50 MickyD AA
PG/SG Tre Mann 6-4 175 ***** 23/50 MickyD AA
C/PF Omar Payne 6-10 220 ****
38/50 - A lanky dunk & block specialist.
SG Alex Klatsky 6-3 170 ** P-WO, 43% Arc
==========

While no coach might ever be as successful as BillyD was in his UF career, Mike White has had a better beginning than BillyD did, so far. Only time will tell for the long haul, but I'm sure happy so far. :)

White was named the Don Haskins WAC Coach of the Year.
White was named the C-USA (LABC) Major College Coach of the Year

Then Mike White came in as a 2x Conf. CoY and he was named the SEC CoY in just his 2nd season after taking UF to a 27-9 record and the Elite-8 -- White was also the USBWA and NABC District Coach of the Year and a semifinalist for Naismith Coach of the Year.

BTW -- As bad as some think Kruger was before BillyD took over, he did take UF to a Final-4, and he's now the OK coach that just beat UF in the 5th game this season...

While BillyD left Mike a 16-17 loser team to begin his UF tenure... o_O

BillyD was a great UF coach eventually, and likely an eventual HoF coach.
Mike White is also a great coach, before and after arriving at UF.
Where Mike ends up remains to be seen, but dissing on him now is just utter BS imoho. o_O

So you agree that comparing the situations that Mike White and Billy Donovan walked into are on-par?

Perhaps not, but Billy had a losing record his last year and Mike took us to the Elite Eight in year two...not sure what that means, but sadgator honestly believes White is a better coach than people are giving him credit for right now...

Stormin’ Norm Sloan says hello.
Don't forget the legendary Tommy Bartlett. He was the coach when I was at UF.
In 1966, Bartlett began a seven-year tenure at Florida after Norm Sloan left for North Carolina State. Unlike Sloan, Bartlett emphasized defense from the start.[4] Bartlett's first Gators squad, including Gary Keller and Neal Walk, was the best Florida had produced until that time;[5] they finished 21–4 overall (the school's first 20-win season),[6] and 14–4 in the SEC.[7] It was also the first Gators basketball squad to ever be ranked in the national polls.[7] In an era when only conference champions were guaranteed bids in the 23-team NCAA Tournament, the Gators missed their first SEC title and NCAA Tournament appearance by a single game after losing to coach Ray Mears' Tennessee Volunteers twice in the regular season.[7] Although Bartlett's 1968–1969 Gators received an invitation to the 1969 National Invitation Tournament(NIT),[8] none of his subsequent Gators teams equaled the success of his first.[9] He was also responsible for recruiting Florida's first African-American player, Steve Williams.[10] He finished with an overall win-loss record of 95–85 and 62–64 in the SEC.[11]

Have a feeling we might get this one today. I don’t think TCU is as good as their record.

As the headline to this thread says, Keep on doubtin'. Right now I have no doubt this is a horrible offensive team who will NOT make the postseason. They live and die on the 3-point shot, don't move on offense and just play dumb. Defense is really good, but this is a team that is heading towards 4 more losses over the next 2 weeks. They could possibly beat Ole Miss, but the they played today they can't be any team with a pulse. Pitiful.

They lost, but not due to Mike White's offense. He can only put them in position to score, he can't shoot the ball for them. When 8 of their first 11 shots are in the paint (0-8), it's not the offense. It's the shooters, just as I've been saying all season so far. When they make their shots, the offensive system looks great,,, and when they don't, it looks terrible. They again missed 3 bunnies (-6) and lost by 5 pts,,, I mean, jus-damn!

It's kind of like SOS calling plays, while the QB doesn't make the throw, or the receiver drops the ball, or an OL'man misses a block. It's not the X's & O's, it's the Jimmie's and the Joe's...

Two Micky-D shooters are on the way, plus a 4 star 38/50 big man. I guess I'll just have to hold my breath until next season.

If we can't shoot threes, then adjust the offense.

It's on him. That's coaching.

And when we DO get hot and shoot well, that does not mean that the offense looks great. It just means that we got hot.

There is nothing in this offense that looks like legitimate schemes to get shots open, to pass out of bad looks.

If anyone thinks that this is all on the players not executing, then you don't understand how coaching works.

It's ridiculous that we're having this discussion.

Big 12 is throttling the SEC today in the challenge. I’m always up to see the Vols lose, but as of now they are taking care of business,

Sorry the Gators lost today.

IT HAPPENS!

TCU hmmm, they have a decent FB program but BB naaa. We will beat you guys by 30!
TCU is 15-4, so not bad. And I agree that this year's KY team will beat the Gators badly both times. We can't shoot and have no inside game.

Man that first half was ugly. My biggest issue with White is he doesn't sub out quick enough when someone isn't getting it done. Hudson was awful today.

He subbed Hudson for Allen right after Allen got that 3 point play and was getting it going and for Johnson. Those minutes cost us a chance to win the game. I believe the 3 point play tied it. We were down 8 I think when Allen came back in. Hudson put up 5 or 6 bad shots in that stretch, which led to several TCU run outs for easy baskets and Hudson lost his guy twice for three pointers. White didn’t sit him until he threw up that awful air all 3. Bad job by White.

I personally think White subs too much. Doesn’t allow guys to get into a rythm or flow of the game and as soon as they do he subs them out.

I personally don't think that you know chit about B-Ball, compared to the guy that's been voted a WAC, C-USA, & SEC CoY....
