To steal a word from Gatorgary, I think it is important to keep this loss in perspective.

As the wins started piling up, naturally expectations began to rise, but to be honest, this team is well ahead of even where the most optimistic of fans thought they would be prior to the start of the season.

Heading into the season, 99.99% of the membership here, as well as the rest of the Gator Nation would be willing to do back-flips if you were to tell them that Florida would be 6-1, 4-1 heading into their bye weekend.

I'll tell you right now, and you can go back and read through the game thread – when LSU took the 28-14 lead going into the half, I thought Florida would roll over and play dead. They had every reason to – given the distractions of the week and the monumental task the team was facing. Instead, they fought their butts off. I'm not one to talk up or boast about a moral victory, but this is about as close to one as you can get. If nothing else, give this team credit for fighting from start to finish.

Florida went on the road and took it down to a one possession game against the No. 6 ranked team in the nation – and despite the loss, the Gators are still in the driver's seat in the SEC East.

The Gators have done all of this with one of the youngest rosters among teams in the top 25.

So yes, the Gators suffered their first loss of the season, and no I'm not into awarding participation trophies, but there is still certainly much more good than bad if you keep everything in perspective.
