That is very different from open borders and calling each social program a "human right". I also believe in closing all borders, very tightly, and then having a rational system for allocating slots based on specific economic needs. If we need more construction workers, then great, set your policy to that. Nursing is the same. Now, most (not all, but most) of these are good people seeking a better life. If you have nothing and have an option for free healthcare, free community college and you pay nothing in taxes for it (at least now), of course, how are you going to vote? I would not blame them one iota.
At the state level, Texas got the voting rules bill right but will set off a firestorm on the abortion bill. People have strong and nearly split views on abortion, so that is a tough one. (I am pro-choice - meaning
A few thoughts:
- MSNBC and CNN are organs of the DNC. Fox is essentially the same for the RNC. Hannity and Trump are very close.
- The Afghan call is outrageous
- How Biden handled Afghanistan was taken up, in spades, by the MSM. I was actually (pleasantly) surprised. The MSM (in its day time slots) needs to hold power to account regardless of political party. It knocked 5 to 10 points off of Biden's popularity. Yes, the MSM can drive public opinion in the middle.
- I actually like NBC (Lester Holt) and find it's reporting to be (on the whole) tough and fair. Give Lester credit for forcing the reply from Kamala of "well, I have not been to Europe either".
- Trump was very much in the wrong for asking for political help and (again) showed a profound lack of discipline. He then went onto say it was a "perfect call".
- Trump, at most, should have been censured. Impeachment was a Pelosi political move.
- Biden, at most, should be censured. Impeachment is similar and looks silly and petty. Republicans are better than that. People should be calling for Blinken's resignation.
- Now...if multiple of these events happen, then calling for resignation may be appropriate, but the country should be careful what it wishes for. Do you want Kamala running the country? Pelosi is next in line.
- Focus on driving down Biden's approval rating and not looking like "crazies" to the broad middle of the country. Similarly, show the Manchin and Sinema of the world that McConnell is much more similar company to them than is AOC.
- Focus on winning back college educated white women who need to really make a hard decision on whether theoretical issues (e.g. abortion rights in Texas when they live in Pro-Choice states and do not even have daughters) overwhelm higher taxes, open borders, CRT teaching in schools, higher crime, higher inflation, etc.

Now I hope you understand this. I like Biden but he is not above criticism or blame. He's not perfect and nobody is. There will be things he do that I disagree with. There will be things he do that make me mad at him. I'm not and never will be a puppet for anyone.

Race theories are racist and should not be indoctrinated in public or private schools. No one wanted something given to them simply because of their skin tone, the dream of MLK was the measure of character to be the reason not the color of their skin. To place equity on race is indeed racist and teaching white people are continuing to promote Caucasians over other races is simply not true. The % of Caucasian people is much higher is the reason many are promoted or hold more positions in the workforce. It is not because of systemic racism.

You were tagged, as you describe, because you self identify as an Independent, and correct me if that is not correct and your opinion was respectfully asked for. You were asked your opinion about media coverage on what seemed like a very revealing phone call made by Biden and you conveniently chose to ignore the question. Not sure why.
As far as political independence, are you a registered Independent, and whether yes or no, have you voted for any republicans in state or national elections. Just curious and if you don't care to answer, that's fine.

I've had said a lot of times that I voted for Republicans. I voted for Rick Scott when i was in FL, Tom Corbett when I was in PA. I voted for both sides and will continue to do so. In 2016, I was for John Kasich.
I have always said that Trump is treated unfairly with the media but that gets ignored. I dislike the man but it never clouded my eyes to how he was/is treated. I don't think what Biden asked for from the Afghans is any different than other presidents. Trump call to Ukraine was fine until he focused on Biden. You just don't ask someone to investigate your political opponent. If Ukraine brought up Biden, thats one thing but Trump brought him up, that ruined his perfect call. The media is too tough on Trump on the left and the right is too easy on him.
