I didn’t realize Schiano was in the deposition testimony surrounding Sandusky. I’d never heard that. I don’t think it would have been an issue if they hadn’t made it one. He probably would have done a good job there.

The riot act was read tonight to the A/D Currie. The Schiano to UT deal is being walked away from by both sides. Now, OSU fans are being vocal in not wanting him back.since his infamy is being covered widely in the newspapers and on TV. They think he should have a P branded on his forehead even though there's not the slightest hint of pedophilia charges against Schiano. He DID tell someone in the assistant Athletic Director's office but that was it. He never checked back to see if anything was being done( there was not and hundreds more boys were molested by Sandusky

Count me as somebody who has no problem with what they're doing. I mean seriously, these universities are way out of touch. Every year fans have to spend more and more money to support the programs. Schools keep raising ticket prices, keep asking for more donations, keep raising game related costs yet when they f*ck up they aren't held accountable. Instead shitty coaches like Butch Jones walk away with $10 million and the fans foot the bill and in some cases have their costs raised even MORE to help foot the buyout. Why the hell shouldn't they make their voice heard and have a say in who is hired?

They've sucked for nearly two decades. Look at how bad we are after just 8 years. And despite that they keep selling out their stadiums and being supportive. When you've had enough you've had enough. And I don't think the pedo stuff is the REAL reason they're protesting, I think if they had signed a better coach they'd be willing to look over a sketchy past. But I also don't blame them for not wanting to have THAT representing them either. It's not a good look. I don't blame them at all.

They're protesting on the basis of the pedo stuff (at least publicly) so they aren't gonna take much heat for that. Once the initial shock wore off there's already people congratulating them for taking a stand against having a pedo enabler representing them. The narrative is that they don't want a child sex abuse enabler as their coach, not that they don't want a bad football coach as their coach which is likely the REAL reason. But as I'm sure you know, everything is about the narrative.
And they were already on like their 5th choice for coach anyway, it isn't gonna get any worse. Go hire a young up and comer and give him time to grow into the job and they'll be fine. There isn't some huge dropoff between Schiano and their other candidates. It's all relative.

'Fine' is all relative. I meant fine as in they'll be in the same place they were before this all happened. They're in a bad place as a program and it's going to take years to fix. That would have been the case with Schiano or any of their other candidates.

System wide, the sports department needs a lot of shake-ups. The lesbian H/C of the women's basketball team has accomplished exactly squat even though every year she has some of the best talent in the nation. Unless they make it to the Final 4, she should be fired
UT Men's basketball is doing well so far this season defeating 2 of the 3 Top 25 teams they have played and they have #1 N/C next. Have to see if they have the stamina to last a full season.

Phil needed to go. He quit after winning the N/C in 98. He had the talent that should have won at least 2 more( 1999 &2001) N/C's but he blew it by attending parties and meeting all THE "Right" people instead of focusing on his team, the changes in the game and upgrading his assistants.
He got to recruiting illiterate thugs who were constantly in trouble off campus and strangers to the classroom. He lost control of the team as the players had no respect for him so perhaps things would have been better if he had stayed as H/C. But I doubt it. Can't allow players tell you F-U when you are trying to correct an error they are doing and then there be no consequences.
