If it wasn't for a once in a lifetime talent like Anthony Davis making up for his coaching deficiencies, he'd have zero titles in his entire coaching career, despite almost always having the most talented roster on the floor every game. So Meyer is a terrible coach because he's won it 1 time in the last 4 years...but his team is one the best teams every year. Getting the best players in the country is about being a very good coach and Cal does it every year and better than anyone else. Sorry but this is a dumb post.

he's got a more built in advantage than Saban does in this sport by far, he's got as many 5 stars in a sport that only signs a few players with 5 and most football teams sign up to 30 players and it takes them 2 and 3 classes to have that many. He makes more money than Saban to coach BASKETBALL, let that sink in. He makes more money than every NBA coach but Popovich and Doc Rivers... He plays in a basketball conference that's easy to breeze through with the talent he acquires, losing by that much to any team like tonight should never happen and he always throws the players under the bus hardcore when they lose and blames it on being young when he's the poster boy for bragging about winning with all freshmen each year and a different rotation too when it's going well...

The main difference this year seems to be their big guys aren't that good like in some past years. I never thought Cal was a great coach except when it came to recruiting the one and done players.

Cal lost his team last night. Monk and Briscoe laughing it up on the bench and then not shaking hands at the end of the game. They are now to looking towards the draft instead of playing for the university. Don't be surprised if they go .500 down the stretch and end up a 6 seed. Yep with what Cal gets in talent every year there is a good argument that he has underachieved at KY. I will never forget when he was asked whether he was underachieving or a similar type question by a reporter and he shot back show me another coach doing what he is doing with a team full of freshmen. And Congrats guys; you all's team took it to us last night. Our problem is our front court. Bam is making tons of freshman mistakes, and we didn't have a true 4 in there to help bang for offensive RBs.... Gabriel isn't getting it done, Willis plays mostly on the wing, and I have no idea why Humphries didn't play more

This class isn't as good as what he's had in the past. Not sure how many of these guys are lottery picks. Fox for sure, maybe Bam and Monk. But even Monk looks like more of a college scorer.

BTW, count me as a guy that thinks overall, Cal is a pretty damn good coach. His process, or coaching model, is a bit different than most people. But one cannot argue with 4 Final Four teams in 7 years.
Cal does as good a job as anyone getting highly talented prima donnas to buy into his coaching concept and play as a team, Some years that works better than others and it works best of all when he has at least two sophomores or juniors in his rotation of seven or eight players. This year he really has only one.
This is a year that it is taking the UK team a lot longer to gel. The two UK bigs are a step down from what Cal has recruited in the past and for all the talk about his dribble drive philosophy, without two lottery pick bigs, his offense just does not work nearly as well. Our bigs abused the UK bigs last night, and that does not happen often.

I agree with this...maybe he's not the best game coach...but all around his teams are one of the best since arriving at UK. Doesn't matter if his team is stacked or not (and they are). The idea that he's "not that good of a coach" is just not true. His team is in the tournament every year and in the final 4 most of those years. If we were saying that about our coach people on this board would be singing a different song. Either way I loved watching our Gators beat their ass...great win for the Gators and we're playing some good basketball right now.
