An astute poster in he Houston thread correctly indicated how last night exposed Jimbo Fisher as an average coach. I wanted to express additional thoughts on the matter, because there are so many things that bug me about him as a coach.

First, he is just plain average and has never been a coach that has prepared and motivated his team's to play hard in big games. Last night was a prime example and every game that his team's struggle to win, have to fight back on, or even lose (Lousiville and NC State last year and GT this year).

What this he lost telling to me is his demeanor on the sideline. Sky aptly said that he looks "lost at Disneyworld," and this couldn't be farther from the truth. He is constantly complaining and moaning and throwing up his arms. He's had a month to get ready for a game last night and he couldn't get his team to execute better than it did (to be fair, Maguire's plant foot was injured, so I respect that he wanted to play through it). Most of the time, when his team is struggling, he has this plaid look on his face like he doesn't know what to do, is hoping that his game plan will work, and is, honestly, about to throw up.

Last night, the biggest indicator that he is not just a bad coach but is constantly throwing players under the bus with his sideline antics was the pooch kick to the Houston tight end that backfired when the tight end brought it back 40 yards. Jimbo has his headset on, he either knows or should have known what the call was and that there was going to be a pooch. When Aguayo gets to the sideline, Jimbo, in his typical fashion, gets into Aguayo like its his fault. Come on, own up to the call Jimbo or, if the calm was bad (should have kicked it out of the end zone and made Houston go 80 yards) then lay into your special teams coach! He has no character.

Anyway, I'll step down from my soapbox and hope the Gators play well today.
