Until Kirby shows that he can get out of his own way as a coach on gameday, you can't credibly talk about Georgia getting better. KIRBY is the one that needs to get better as a COACH before Georgia as a PROGRAM can get better.
He only does that by winning the big games that he can't win simply on talent advantage alone.

Maybe you should go back and look at the recruiting rankings for Georgia from 2005-2008 and Alabama from 2005-2008 since those were the classes that made up both rosters.

In his 1st season back at UF, Dan finished going 4-0 with a bowl win over #7 Mich. Thinking that your mid-season win over UF in 2018 will make any difference to the outcome of the 2019 game is pretty funny to me.
The Gator QB Franks was the #10 SEC QB in 2018.
He is now the #3 QB in the SEC. (Dan taught him how to finish)
BillyG is now coaching the WR's, with his 25 years of WR coaching experience and a half dozen upperclassmen running his routes.
RB Scarlett 5.9 ypc has moved on to the NFL, but Malik Davis 6.7 ypc is back 100% healthy. And the Fr #3 APB from Miami, as good as he is, will likely need to redshirt behind the 5 roster guys ahead of him:

While the now knowledgeable Gator D in Grantham's 2nd year will be bigger, stronger, faster than the 2018 version.
And Jones was a 4 star that obviously saw he wasn't going to see the field. He knew we had Frank's this year and another redshirt freshman who was likely going to be tough to beat out next.
Without this transfer portal, he may have attempted to stay and fight it out. Like that freshman at Ohio State , he likely saw the writing on the wall. So yeah it is different in a way, but not in another.
You likely just want to look at it from the negative side, but when it comes to your team it's all because the player is in the wrong.

These highlights reminded me again that even though Florida did not win the game, I liked the way that the Gators played all the way till the end (unlike McElwain's last game at UF in the previous season):
- Florida's defense held Georgia to three FG's in the red-zone:
(One of many was UF's D stuffing Georgia's offense on the first drive of the game for a FG - lol!)
- Although the players were still learning Florida's new offense, the Gators have proven that they could move the ball & score against some top defenses like LSU's & Georgia's !
- Furthermore, after Franks' unfortunate fumble near our goal line, Florida's defense made a magnificient 7-play goal line stand at the 1-2 yard line that kept Georgia out of the end-zone. This forced Kirby Smart to settle for yet another field goal to take a slim 26-17 lead.
- When UF played true-freshman Jalon Jones in meaningful minutes (late in the 2nd quarter and later in the ?3rd/4th quarter), that planted the seeds of doubt into Georgia' Justine Fields to transfer out of Georgia because he can't win the QB job against Fromm!
Hey, at least Dan Mullen (unlike Kirby Smart) gives all freshmen who are capable some real playing time to show their stuff in a huge rivalry game!

What we get from that Jax-game was for Georgia to win, Georgia had to play that perfect game (unlike their numerous turnover prone game(s) against LSU earlier & later to Alabama/Texas) before pulling the game out late in the 4th quarter! Georgia had no turnovers while UF had three TO's.
In the first half, Scarlet's fumble and Franks' interception slowed UF's offense enough which prevented them from scoring even more points. Had Franks hit that first flea-flicker pass to a streaking Van Jefferson, it could have been a much different ball game!
After UF did manage to take a 14-13 lead early in the third quarter, we could all see that look of SHOCK & AWE (sorry couldn't resist) in the Georgia fans' eyes of another Georgia season going down the tubes if not for Franks unfortunate fumble near our goal line. I could just picture those homer, UGA AJC journalists conjuring up some articles about the demise of the Georgia football program - about how they could not win the big games!
Well, Georgia's season did EVENTUALLY go down the tubes AGAIN in 2018 with their failure to hold the lead against Alabama (AGAIN to Alabama - see 2017 CFP Finals) in the SECCG. Kirby did not make Justine particularly look that Smart on that fake punt attempt late in the 4th quarter. That result was likely "the nail in the coffin" for Fields decision to transfer out of Georgia!)
Then in the Sugar Bowl (way to rep the SEC btw), there is Georgia getting curb-stomped by Texas inlcuding your mascot UGA #whatever:
After losing two big, games back to back (That's not exactly like winning back-to-back national titles in basketball), Georgia fans should not be crowing so much!

Nothing about any games last year have anything to do with games next year. That goes for all of us. I haven’t talked much about our matchup. I try not to talk too big because that has a way of biting you in the ass eventually. Florida has a great turnaround season last year. But temper that just a bit and look at who you beat and lost to. 2 losses to east teams and 2 wins over FCS teams. But as I said next year is next year. Could Clorida beat Georgia? Absolutely.
