It may sound crazy

If we beat UT we should get to 8 wins barring a complete collapse. We'd have 8 games remaining with FAU and Vandy included. Those should be automatic wins, so now we'd be sitting at 6 wins. To go 8-4 all we'd have to do is go 2-4 against the final six teams to get to 8 wins. That's not a lot to ask for.

Ozzie you make it sound like its a done deal, and I sure hope you're right. But that O line looked atrocious at times last night. I hope I'm wrong, but 8 wins will be a bit@h imho.

There is a long distance between 3 wins and 8 wins in the SEC. I am not willing to over sweeten the kool-aid quite yet. This team needs to continue developing to have a shot at a .500 season. Short of Florida Atlantic I don't see any automatic wins on the schedule. Every win will require maximum effort and a little bit of luck. Development at the qb position is incumbent for the long term future of our team and it's far more important long term than the number of wins this year.

Well, we should beat vandy and fau to get us 5. The gamecocks and Mizzou are both very winnable, Fsu looks like a mirror image of us right now, so who knows about that one. Uga, lsu, and ole miss are most likely losss. So, I am thinking the ucheat game may be the difference between 7 and 8 wins.

UT is the rubber game that makes this season a success or not. UK was of course a must and they took care of that one. Ole piss, Lsu, UGa, fsu are all top ten teams unless the wheels fall off.

I think both FSU and Ole Miss will be out of the top ten by the end of the year. LSU and UGA are both for real.

fsu is not a top ten. They may finish there thanks to a pillow soft schedule, but they are not that good.

I still think 7-5 but with a win over UT 8 wins is definitely possible.

I see a guaranteed 5 wins right now with chances to beat Tenn at home and Missouri and SC on the road and also a chance to upset FSU at home. I don't think we have much of a chance against LSU, Ole Miss or Georgia after watching the early games. We don't have an O line talented enough to pull something like happened last year against Georgia.

The FSU-UF game this year may set an all time record for QB sacks. Not sure you could combine both teams O-lines and come up with a good one. The winner of that game will be whoever can get their line to jell more than the other by the end of the year. Both teams will have multiple losses when they get together. My guess is we will be looking at an 8-3 FSU vs a 7-4 UF.

If Mizzou doesn't have their October resurgence like they always do, I really think we can win that game. USC looks like USC again. I am not counting those in as wins, but if we keep improving, we should be able to win those. This UT game is a must win if we want an 8 win season, and we could possibly make it a 9 win season with FSU. I think UGA is overrated too, they had one decent win against USC who looks horrible. I think if our offense can start getting it together, along with our OLine growing up, an 8-10 win season is not impossible.

As much as I want to argue against this, alas, I cannot.

Over on the main board, there is a discussion where fans opine if their team is better, worse or the same as last year. Most of the Noles in that thread think their team is better. smh

I hope they don't think FSU better at this point, because they are in for a rude awakening. Defense improved, offense to huge step back. Offense is young, much like UF, but conference schedule helps to improve or maybe mask the deficiencies of the young offense. UF has to face 3 teams in a row that would beat most teams on FSU's schedule besides Clemson. And they would be underdogs against LSU and Ole Miss.

Shocking. I don't see how anybody can claim this years FSU team is or will be better that last years. It's too early to really tell about anybody, but I see this years FSU team as better on D, solid in special teams, and a mess on O. Last year we had Winston who just refused to lose and you never really felt out of the games when we fell behind. Not so much this year with Golson. The question will be is the D really much better than last year (hard to tell at this point given who we have played) and will it be enough to make up for a woefull O. I just don't think it will/can and I see 2-3 losses. We could also fluke our way to a 12-0 (as could the gators) but I don't see it. At least we aren't Miami. Their complete program looks like a dumpster fire to me.
