This might be a double whammy if dems get $15/hr.
The price of goods will go up significantly and in the interim the bigs like Walmart, Kroger, Amazon et al will push for even more automation. If it were not for fear of increased theft Walmart probably would get rid of 90% of its cashiers. You need id checks and problem solvers for when a checkout has a problem. Already self checkout sees one cashier for about 10-15 machines. The stocking of groceries could be 90+% automated and the other areas probably 60%

At some point it is self defeating. While the dollar is printed out of thin air the GDP is a measure of "labor" and its results. When the Utopia of universal income is reached that basic floor will be worthless in dollars and will not buy even the basics. So gubment will try price controls and that will squeeze the other side and you end up like the USSR with rationing, inflation, people forced to work gubment mandated jobs to get that universal income, and misery.
Ole DCandtheUTBand hopes to be in the woods living in his solar powered cabin eating fresh veggies, eggs, drinking homemade wine, and watching Netflix, etc while BSC is working at the widget factory for 12 hrs a day to get his bread ration of 1/2 a loaf for the month.
How dare you close your stores after we forced you to give raises to employees we don’t pay. It’s greedy for you to want to keep and invest your money that we want!
BSC will be still be in oil and gas, he’ll just be changing the oil on government vehicles thinking back on the time when he would gladly take a beating from Bill than to work for the government.
