Inflation soars to 40 year high. God bless President Biden my ass.

I guess you can't read either. I was never given the choice. BECAUSE I file taxes electronically and receive any refund as direct deposit, they just started deposting the $ each month. Never received any notification that it was starting, or chance to opt out.
It was widely publicized that the payments were starting, and that you had the option to opt-out. Don't know what to say about you being unaware of it, but don't say you weren't given the choice. If you can make it to this website, you could have googled what your options were.

A5. If you preferred not to receive monthly advance Child Tax Credit payments because you would rather claim the full credit when you file your 2021 tax return, or you knew you were not eligible for the Child Tax Credit for your 2021 tax year, the IRS provided an option to unenroll from advance Child Tax Credit payments through the Child Tax Credit Update Portal (CTC UP). https://www.irs.gov/credits-deducti...x-credit-payments-topic-a-general-information
Did you really think this dipshit current government sent notices to taxpayers regarding this? I can't even get the SS office to return my calls, they have skeleton crews working and readily admit they are overwhelmed. No one is manning the ship, ALL of them are asleep at the wheel. I went through the same bullshit when I got my Captain's license this summer. Ridiculous!

And I would wager that a large % of the population didn't realize that this was an advance on the child tax credit and just assumed it was more covid stimulus. My wife didn't understand that until the IRS letter came yesterday. Of course, my I told you not to spend it didn't help. We actaully get a break though, she spent a large portion of the $ buying covid supplies that she needs for work (she works at a hospital) and they are always short on supplies like masks and other specialized clothing that must be worn when dealing with covid patients.

Man, you are truely dense. I was not given the option. Why would I go online to look up information about something I didn't know anything about? I never asked for the $. Never knew we were suppose to be getting it. In fact, never knew I had received it until my wife asked me to check the account.

In fact, there should be sometype of regulation that the Government just can't automatically send you $ (I know on my tax return, I have to check the box that gives them authority and I have to provide my bank account #, each and every year), and if you qualify, YOU SHOULD HAVE TO OPT IN to receive it automatically.

"Yesterday" How convenient! Especially since 2021 ship has sailed! 🤣 I had similar issues. They jacked up my Medicare contribution based on old information, from 2019 earnings.
I didn't get the notice until Nov 25th. I sent the required form to appeal yet these bozos haven't responded yet. I finally got a yahoo on the phone and they suggested I fax it as well. 🤣 Still no response, and it's 2022!

You received extra money in your account from the Government that you somehow were not expecting despite widespread news coverage of the payments, and were skeptical enough about the money that you told your wife not to spend it, but you still couldn't take two minutes to Google why you may have received the extra money?

If it was one payment fine, maybe you just thought it was another stimulus payment so you didn't bother to research it, but it never crossed your mind to Google it after the second payment...or the third...or the fourth...or the fifth...or the sixth payment?

Well, the IRS is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy behind. I file my 2020 tax return in Feb and had to pay. I checked the box to setup a payment paln. Something didn't seem right. One of my w-2 just didn;t seem right. I worked only parttime but the amount earned was way tooo much. After several months of dealing with that employer, they finallly issue a new w-2. It changed my taxes drastically. Now, mind you, still haven't heard anything from the IRS about the payment plan. I filed an amended return in July and sent a small check as a payment plan was no longer necessary. The check was cashed in August and the IRS sent paper work to set up the payment plan, (minus the amount I had just paid) ??????? So, they took the check but didn't process the amended return. I assume by now they have, as I haven't heard anything else about the payment plan.

I work a lot and do not have much free time (I know, I spend tooo much time here, but, as long as I get my work done, the boss doesn't mind). My wife and son said that Biden Admin were sending more $ to help struggling people deal with covid. Neither said anything about it being an advance on taxes. So, I wasn't really skeptical about the payments, I told her to not spend it because, it is always better to have $ in the bank.

He talks as if he is in the 18-22 age range and has no real world experience.

Ha! I hate politics...don't understand others passion for it..both sides
I know this is probably a stupid question but I can't resist. Why would anybody go to a message board covering a subject they say they hate just to express their hatred for the subject and lack of understanding of why others would engage in it. Do you have nothing better to do or are you just bored?

Do you seriously not understand the correlation between inflation and economic growth? When we get the GDP data on the 27th, GDP growth (net of inflation for those that still don't understand the concept) will be above 5% for 2021, the highest growth rate since 1984.

Consumer spending is currently about 20% above pre-pandemic levels, then throw supply chains issues from Covid, of course we have high inflation as demand is at highs while supply of goods continues to be too low to meet the surge in demand.

You keep saying the economy is terrible without any type of data or link to any information at all to back up your claim.
And do you not seriously understand that when most people think of the economy, they are NOT thinking of the correlation between inflation and economic growth. Do you really think GDP and economic growth are "kitchen table" issues these days? To most families today, here is their "economy". It is how much money do I have, do the shelves have the products I want to buy and how much do those products cost. That is THEIR economy, not economic growth.
To many people, other than you, the economy is terrible and if you want proof, look at the latest approval ratings and see how many people have a negative view of the economy.

Yeah, we were much better off under Trump where 22 million were unemployed and thousands of companies had to declare bankruptcy., thus setting the stage for the current supply shortfalls. But inflation was low.

Now I understand the love for Trump.

So high inflation, low wages, high prices and no supply is now the recipe for economic success, according to the libs in 2022?

Well I guess we all owe Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama apologies. Guess they are now the two greatest presidents this country's economy has ever seen.

Only idiot blue states closed their businesses propelling people into unemployment. Only idiots cheered that on. Only idiots don't understand the concept. @Sunburnt Indian , please explain to BScuck where this logical flowchart lands . 🤣

The Biden boom continues. Employees finally getting paid.

I remember when some idiot in here thought people quitting their jobs thought that was a sign of a bad economy. LOL.

Many employees feel empowered to strike out in search of higher salaries and bigger roles, and they aren’t afraid to quit. In a recent Gallup poll of more than 14,000 U.S. workers, 48% said they were actively looking, up from 46% in 2019. Workers handed in a record number of resignations in November—many of them to take new jobs. Now, more firms are budgeting more money to pay raises in the hopes of keeping talent from walking out the door

People finally starting to realize that it was Trump himself to blame for shutting down the economy in 2020.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said one of his biggest regrets in office was not speaking out "much louder" in March 2020, when former President Donald Trump advised the nation to stay home to slow the fast-spreading coronavirus.

Derp. So much fail in one post. Your Tump butt licking continues to cloud your judgment.

Trump set the precedent that it’s OK to shut down.
It wasn’t just the Dem states that placed restrictions on businesses long after
Biden ruled out quarantines.
This makes Biden’s economic growth so much the better.

Face it, you worship a loser.

😎

You do know that's not necessarily the whole reason he said that, do you not? 🙄

I’m not sure but Im glad to see some politicians breaking away from the cancer that is Trump. I can’t respect any politician that follows in lockstep, since Trump failed in so many respects.

Hell, if he keeps it up I may even vote for him.

DId he really say that about Trump, or was he talking about the dems and you are just lying again?

Rhetorical question.

You climb a tree to tell a lie rather than stand on the ground and tell the truth.

Sad, and completely unworthy of my time.
