Former Florida OL Phil Trautwein is heading to Happy Valley. Trautwein played at Florida from 2004-08, helping the Gators to two national championships in the Urban Meyer / Dan Mullen era (2006, 2008). He was a First-Team All-SEC selection as a senior in 2008.
After bouncing around NFL from 2009-12, Trautwein got into coaching. He started as a graduate assistant at Boston College, under former UF assistant Steve Addazio, in 2013. After three seasons as a grad assistant, Trautwein took his first on-field position at Davidson as tight ends coach (2016-17) and special teams coordinator (2017). He returned to Addazio’s Boston College staff in 2018 as offensive line coach. He also held the position in 2019.
All five of BC’s starting offensive linemen earned All-ACC honors: John Phillips (first-team), Zion Johnson (second), Ben Petrula (second), Alex Lindstrom (third) and Tyler Vrabel (honorable mention). The Eagles allowed just 11 sacks in 2019, which was the third-fewest in FBS, and 57 tackles for loss, which was No. 13 in FBS. In addition, BC averaged 267.8 rushing yards per game to rank fifth in FBS in rushing offense.

Dan Mullen will be calling Phil Trautwein to offer his congratulations on his Penn State job. He will also enter Trautwein's name on his list of possible OL Coaches & let Trautwein know to call Mullen if anything changes for either one of them !
Connections like this are why Mullen will have no problem finding a replacement for Todd Grantham if he gets Miss State job.
