I Would Support a 2 Week General Shutdown

I get disdain and outrage, but not remorse.

Yes, it would be great if they got vaccinated before sneaking in, but that might be a tad unrealistic.

Maybe so, I don't know, but our sieve-like current border policy is not helping anything ...
Our current border policy is by design, not of failure of what WERE existing border protections. Biden's been flying some of these illegals to infect regions far from our border as well. Stop wasting investigations on what happened in the past and investigate what's going on now and can be prevented ongoing.......but that doesn't fit the narrative.

You are conflating immigration and illegal immigration here. And yes, there is fear of illegal immigration for a number of reasons, which you said you oppose. I'm confused, but that is most likely just my problem ...
Here’s the thing. The virus doesn’t care if you are a legal or illegal immigrant. It’s going to come here one way or another. Just like the Delta came from England. Where is the outrage there. Are you going to shut down all tourists? All commerce? Hundreds of thousands enter our country legally every day. So the outrage about the illegals is just a red herring IMO.

So unless you totally shut down the border, which is impossible, the only solution is to vaccinate yourself.

You do your best to control what you can by eliminating variables. Sealing up the southern border would go a long way in addressing that, in addition to ridding this country of the headache of unmitigated illegal immigration and all the problems it brings ...

Two different issues. I’m all for tight border security. But that has little to nothing to do with the surge in hospitalizations. That’s due to the unvaccinated people. Immigrants who test positive are quarantined.

Sure, but not the illegals who aren't caught. And are they testing all of the ones that are caught? I don't know ...

And how many of the ones caught are infecting law enforcement agency workers, their families, hospital workers, others they come in contact with etc… They said for every 1 its spreading to 9 I believe. So do the math. And as you stated, what about those not caught? What about false negatives? Kids? The list goes on and one for how this situation can spread the virus.

But I am sure that CNN, WAPO, fact checkers, etc have told folks this is false. But you gotta be a special kind of stupid to think this hasn’t contributed.

The key being “former.” If you are dumb enough to not take advantage of a simple vaccine, then why should you take a hospital bed in place of someone with a real need.

But I’m OK with denying care to the fatties, drunks and druggies as well. They are driving up my healthcare costs.
Better yet, why don’t we just save time and KILL all the unvaxxed, fats, smokers via gas chambers and giant ovens so that we never have to worry about the hospitals having to deal with another sick person again. Trying to think if something like this has ever been attempted before...help me out, Adolph. 🙄

C'mon, that would never happen. The tolerant amongst us would never let it ...

That sounds a little extreme.

@BSC911 likes your purdy Gold Member badge and wants to know if he can borrow $9.95 a month from now on?

Back to the original topic. The economic and psychological impact of another lockdown can’t be understated. If that were to happen, we would almost surely see once again more businesses closing, more stimulus creating higher inflation, higher unemployment, and of course more suicides. We can’t afford to take 5 steps backwards.

I understand that Gator1776 means short 1-2 week shutdowns to flatten the curve a bit into something manageable. Unfortunately, this country is too politically dysfunctional to coordinate any sort of lockdown effectively, even if lockdowns were proven effective.

At this point, I’m afraid that we’re just going to have to let the forest fire burn. Hopefully things will soon calm down to the point where gunshot victims won’t bleed to death in the waiting room because there are no beds or staff available.

This on all accounts.

This is why I should be regional and not national. I would like to see two or three counties in my area do it for two weeks.

The antiVaxxers should be at the end of the line IMO. Kind of like the smokers and alcoholics are at the end of the line for transplants.

No need to bend over backwards for those dummies.
This vitriol for people that make their own choices is odd to me. Are we not concerned with mortality rates? These people that claim Pro-lifers are crazy are the homicidal maniacs.

I have no problem with people that make their own choices. I just believe they should live with their consequences. Color me crazy.

PS. I am pro life.

Where do you live with the consequences. They get sick. What’s your suggesting is not only do they have to live with the consequences but we’re not supposed to help them either. That’s unethical.

I believe your job is to help them, with no judgment.

But should I become King, I would hold everyone accountable for their actions.

I’ll take smokers for example I hate smoking. But they already pay a gigantic tax when they buy cigarettes. Then they get sick on average much earlier in life, there looks fade much earlier in life, I can’t breathe, seems like there are plenty of consequences for their decisions. Maybe you’re confusing consequences with punishment?

Well thankfully that’s not a how our American healthcare system works. And smokers and alcoholics are not at the end of line for transplants they are only denied transplants if they are still smoking or drinking. Most people in the front of the line for both lungs and liver are former smokers and former drinkers.
It’s not too different from rooting for someone who had unprotected sex or a junkie that shared a needle and got AIDS to die.

Liberals are terrible people but act like they are caring humanitarians.

I can’t find the article at the moment but I think we are offering the vaccine. About 1/3rd are refusing it.

100%
We are capturing record numbers. But it’s estimated 1.2MM have entered since Biden removed Trump’s policies.

Living in bad conditions in crowded quarters, it 25% are Covid positive it’s going to start a wildfire. Biden gets this so he plants those fires in red states then attacks those governors for not locking down their states.

He’s acting compassionate and at the same time killing people to score political points.

Yeah. I’m not a smoker, but I detest when known-smoker person dies of lung cancer and some people start saying “well, he got what he deserved!” As others have noted, they wouldn’t say the same thing about someone who died of AIDS.

It looks like Delta is now picking up in China.

Considering that the Chinese vaccine was found to be ineffective, I have a feeling things are about to get scary in the Middle Kingdom.

I wonder if it’s going to be like last year, when they were they were welding the doors to people’s homes shut, trapping them inside, and dragging people into vans off the streets to be quarantined.

I‘ll bet the senior party members got Pfizer jabs.

And since Delta seems to affect younger people, that’s bad news for much of the developing world who were largely spared the first time around due to their youthful populations.

Fvck Chinese Leadership. They are responsible for all of it ...

Less time posting. Let the workers who don’t want to vax come back to help, make regeneron more accessible as a prophylactic treatment, close the boarders, continue vaccine push for those willing. Problem solved, no need to shutdown.

You’re welcome

My election campaign begins now.
Borders. Boarders are people who rent a room from you.

I wouldn't bother but you keep making this mistake.
