Hotty Toddy/Nolies game thread

treon might be able to score against this prevent. They are a big 12 defense now

All college football is the Big 12 now. Defense is dead. Look at the scores for the marquee match-ups this weekend. Five years ago, you didn't typically see combined scores approaching 100. This is the norm now. Some say it's due to the targeting rule.

I think this was a factor in Muschamp's downfall. He was decent in the era when "Defense won championships," but that changed after he became an HC. If he took over in 2005, I think he would have done better.

Muschamp is still playing mid 70's big ten football.

it's an absolute shame we don't get to play against this arena defense this year, they just got outscored 39 to 6 in 2 quarters LMFAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOO.

No there's still only two teams in the nation that play defense every year

Ole Miss' defensive game plan was embarrassing in the second half playing their corners 10 yards off the ball and then bailing at the snap. From a coverage standpoint Francois didn't have to think that much. That said, Francois is the real deal. Even though Ole Miss' secondary coverage was attrocious that dline dominated FSU's line and Francois was running for his life and still dropping dimes. He reminds me of Watson. F*ck.

He stood in there & got drilled a few times as he was throwing the ball.

Pretty impressive for a first time starter & your o-line is not helping you at all.

My thoughts exactly...DBs were young and inexperienced, but Ole Piss's DL was blowing up the FSU O-line like free-admission day at the carnival. However, despite getting beat the frack up, Francois was on target all dadgum night. Imagine what he can do with some experience and a healthy, improved O-line. Look out!

Derek Kelly(74) and Rick Leonard(76) are going to get Francois killed. We must find better lineman to protect him. The entire line at times struggled but those two just flat out cannot block anyone. Kelly was literally beaten every single play. Leonard needs to return to defense. We need to find answers quick or we won't have Francois.

Oh, sadgator has absolutely no doubt in his mind whatsoever that we will see him turn in what is certain to be his best performance of the season when we play him.

By the way, does anybody happen to know the French word for clown? sadgator's gonna need it over the next 4 years...

And they go fast.
And they wear out their own defense. Ole Miss has no running game and no defense. They lost quite a bit off of the team they had last year. Ole Miss will struggle this year IMO.

I love offense but I'm not a fan of the hurry up offense all game long.

Yep.

I love the hurry up but you have to be smart about how you use it. They had a stretch where they had 3-4 drives and like 2 minutes came off the clock. This while FSU was moving up and down the field on their defense. Why not pull it back, run some clock, and rest your defense for a little bit?

They have no running game either. They actually killed themselves last night. If they had a good running game they could have won the game. Ole Miss will struggle this year IMO because of no running game and an average defense that is going to get worn out by their own offense. It's the exact same thing that happens to Kevin Sumlin coached teams.

Their first two drives in that stretch were two play drives that ended in turnovers (tipped pass that was intercepted, then a sack/fumble). Those two short-field TDs for FSU were huge in changing the game.

I was very impressed with nolie QB. Ole Miss was regularly in the backfield with just a 4 man rush and he was hitting his targets. He made some really good decisions with his feet too. I think between our line and nole line we may be able to piece together one decent offensive line.

They killed themselves? You really believe that which is funny. They have been up-tempo how long now and you expect them to change in the 2nd half of a game because FSU starts wearing them out? That is like saying Tebow should play FB in the pros. It doesn't translate that easy when all you know is fast or in Tebow's case QB. Ole Miss bitch slapped FSU in the 1st half. FSU dropped a knockout shot on them in the 2nd. Game over.

I think Fisher is now 8-1 vs the SEC. And most of that is against good teams.

You think five of the six wins Fisher had against Florida were against good teams? Not trying to minimize the FSU wins, but only two Florida teams in Fisher's HC career were even ranked.

True. Only three of those 9 match-ups were against non-UF teams; which were all ranked.

I think UF was only ranked in 3 of those match-ups and we went 2-1 in those; if memory serves me correctly.

That said, I'm okay with the stat; 8-1 vs SEC teams.

Watching Ole Miss feels pointless to me, although I would have liked to see them knock off FSU just for spite. You know these seasons are going to end up scrubbed. Their self imposed sanctions are a joke. Two scholarships a year for four years and a one-year post-season ban for the women's hoops team? Don't think that's going to cut it.

Quality. Truth spoken.

Going to say this here and now, many of the high scores from this past weekend and last night proves one simple fact. These teams may "appear" to have an explosive offense but in reality neither team has/had a defense!!!!

I don't think that's quite accurate but it's your board.

both secondaries looked lost at the highest levels last night way too many times

And yet somehow DC Kelly held down QB Kelly better than Alabama did last year.
Chad Kelly had a worse completion%, fewer yards on more attempts, more sacks (5 v 2), more INTs (3 v 0), and more fumbles (1 v 0) than against Saban's crew...

Your DC is not very good but whatever makes you happy.
