In a shocking development, Everett Golson is named the starting QB at FSU.
None of us saw that coming, no sir, not a one.

Shocking. A guy that has two full seasons starting at a major program, including a NC appearance miraculously wins the job over a guy with one shaky start and a true freshman.
I'm not sure what the gator point is on this.
...Grier may be interested in that...For those with short memories (Noles and Danny), the consensus on this board was that Golson was promised the starting job or he would not have gone to FSU. Noles said "no way". Yet here we are. If any of you want to claim that fiction of a camp battle was real, well, there's this really cool bridge I can get you at a really cheap price...

If Golson would have been outperformed in practice & scrimmages he wouldn't be starting.
In the words of Mr. Grier "wow"This ain't shocking to anybody. Even Noles, if they were honest with themselves, knew Golson was brought into start. You don't risk upsetting your team to bring in a guy to be a backup when you have 4 other young QB's on the roster you could play. And actually it would have made more sense for FSU to do that since this year is considered a 'rebuilding' year anyway. Get those guys experience and make a run next year. Because the truth is even with one of the younger guys they should still win 10 games with that schedule. So that right there let you know Golson was being brought in to start.

Grier transferred into Florida? In the words of Mr. Grier "wow"
Being a nole means never having to admit anything, and forever the victim....always the little brother.
It doesn't make a lot of sense that Golson would transfer somewhere for his final year of eligibility if he wasn't 99.999999% certain he'd be a starter.
Golson could have gone just about anywhere and played. You really think he chose a school where he wasn't guaranteed to start, regardless of what was said publicly? Use some common sense.
If he could have gone just about anywhere and played why would he need a promise?
My "argument" with danny (iirc) was simply no way Jimbo was going to just throw Golson the keys unconditionally. It's more likely promises were made along the lines of:
"Put in the work, the job is yours"
"Learn the system and the job can be yours."
"Work hard and you've got the job"
I can't imagine Jimbo saying no matter what, I promise you you'll start. Heck, if that were the case, Golson could have pulled an X-Lee and just goofed off until game day.
I believe it was more a case of, "It's your job to lose" than it being "It's guaranteed yours."
Why is this even a discussion? Does anyone believe Jimbo's pick-up line was, "Hey, wanna come to FSU and be a back-up?"
So then it's just semantics we're arguing then? Fine, I agree. But telling a guy if he works hard the job is his is basically promising him the job. I mean it's not as if the other QB's wouldn't be working hard either, right?

Anyone thinks Russell Wilson was promised the starting job at Wisconsin?? How about the new Oregon qb?? I'm trying to understand the logic on this. So basically you guys are saying if a Senior QB takes advantage of the rule and transfers, that means he was promised the starting job?? Or is Strictly a Jimbo thing??
I am trying to count the number of shits I give about this. I can't get past zero
That's your one post in 8 years? Yeah kinda proves my point.
Sadly, it's a thread topic that's been started at least 4 different times by your brethren. I'd think the ONLY time you would care would be the week before our match-up, then it would simply be from a UF defensive scheme perspective.
Not much different than the number of FSU fans wading in on the Grier/Harris debate.
BTW, when are you going to comment on our ridicule of your SOS source?
2. You mean the same source I gave you last week and you posted you'd look at the data because you love numbers? Ya, I told you, I'm limited in sites I can access, so I chose that one and stuck with it so I wouldn't be accus
