Big game for this team. Gators probably have to win 2:1 in the SEC to even think about the tourney. We're going to have to win a bunch of games on the road. Billy didn't start Frazier and he came out angry. I do not like Murphy and Kurtz at the bigs though. Maybe that's their best pressing team, but the team can't rebound like that.

This is the first game ive watched without getting frustrated, because... I expect them to be terrible at this point and have no expectations

Remember when Chris Walker was supposedly a lottery pick? Athleticism through the roof but basketball skill below the floor. This is not a tournament team. Just not good enough. However, it would be nice to get better throughout the year so that these guys are ready to make a tourney run next year when the new class comes in

They are good athletes, and they play hard. They just are not skilled enough yet. Walker is playing much better, trying to make an impact. They just throw the ball everywhere. So many turnovers, and they can't hit free throws.

I love Kurtz. I love his hustle and heart. Every game he has 3 to 4 outstanding hustle plays. Unfortunately the rest of the time he is in there its 4 on 5 on the offensive end and defensively he is too slow and gets beat a lot. The fact that he is playing so many minutes is the only indicator to know this team is not good. Now the only question is will we win enough games to get the NIT invite. I am guessing we will need 16 wins which means we need to go 9-9 or so in the conference. It will be a tough task.

I'm not willing to settle for the NIT just yet. I'd like to shoot for the NCAA even if a low seed. I know it's a longshot but there is a long way to go in this season. Except for UK and possibly Arkansas the rest of the SEC is beatable.

choking the last two games away were huge... but tonight had to be a win, now they should be able to string a few together with some home games.

Pretty encouraging win against a tough USC team at home. The Gators are just really inexperienced. They haven't played together very much due to injuries, eligibility and all the transfers.

I'm taking the long view on this and anticipating next year, when they should be very good. It will probably be Billy's most talented team since the '04s, because I don't think we'll lose anyone other than maybe Finney Smith. It will be fun to watch these guys develop. Athletically, we are as good as anyone, but they just don't know what they're doing yet. They defend and play hard. I think we'll be pretty good by the end of this year and at least give the tournament committee something to think about.

Anyone know why Horford was suspended? Billy was definitely trying to shake these guys up going into league play. Benching Frazier was a great move.

We still have a chance if we can win about 13 SEC games including the SEC tournament and get wins over teams like Arkansas and LSU. 11-7 in SEC play with a couple of SEC tourney wins would probably get us barely in.

We get to 20 wins we are in for sure. We dropped some games already that we had no business losing (Kansas, Miami, GTown, UCONN & FSU) that hurts. Just win 2-3 out of those 5 games and things look better. We flat out choked away the Kansas, Miami and UCONN games.

Good win for the good guys. Hopefully this win will help teach these players how to close out a game.

Need to get Horford back.

Disagree. 20 wins doesn't get you in anymore. We currently have zero "good wins" on the resume. We would have to win at least two more in in the conference tourney.

This team now has three wins against top 100 RPI teams. One on the road. One team is on the 100 RPI bubble, so that might drop to two.

We are probably going to need to win at least 15 of the 21 possible total SEC games, if we are to have any chance to get into the NCAA tournament. Maybe we can get 13 regular season wins and two SECT wins. We already have on of the tougher road wins.

You sure. I think SC dropped out and Yale is our only top 100 win. I may be wrong however.

I do see William and Mary went to 97 now but I doubt that lasts long.

Well played Gary

Imagine if we could just talk about the only sport that we actually care about, instead of pretending that we really care about basketball.

Because 98% of us don't...unless we're winning.

Worst sport ever...except for Hockey (and at least in person that's entertaining)

I really hope Sonovan takes an NBA gig soon so this nonsense can be over.

I really like basketball - fast paced - leads can change fast. The only thing I don't like are the penalties. I don't get them most of the time.

Well if we are on the border line they will probably put us in by name alone. When you have 4 straight Elite 8's and a Final Four and Billy Donovan..they will give you the benefit of the doubt most likely

We were a bubble team the year after the back-to-backs and went to the NIT.

The refs are the worst part of basketball. Refs will call a ticky tack foul 35 feet from the basket one possession and then let a guy get mugged on a layup or a rebound without a call. It's particularly bad in college, where you only get five fouls, so a couple of soft fouls can send your best big to the bench for an entire half. That is one of the reasons it's so tough to beat Duke, Kentucky and the other blue bloods. Whenever we played Kentucky the last four years, it was guaranteed Patric Young would pick up a touch foul in the first couple minutes just trying to get position on post defense or a rebound or a screen. That's why Billy would rotate him out so quick in the first half.

Too many fouls in nothing situations and too many bail outs. If a guy charges into the lane out of control, don't bail him out by calling a touch foul. Football is becoming the same way with all the pass interference calls.

But other than that, basketball is awesome. And regardless of whether you like basketball or not, if you're a Gator and you don't take advantage of the opportunity to watch Billy Donovan coach and run a program, you are missing out.

When Billy retires, we probably go back to being mediocre again in basketball. Just like with South Carolina and football when SOS retires.

Hope I'm wrong about us though.

When Billy leaves, that is one hire that Foley cannot screw up. Once we lose the momentum and brand that Billy created, we'll be back to being a mid-level SEC team. We'll make the occasional run, but we won't recruit or compete anywhere near as consistently.

The O'Dome is a pretty mediocre venue, and the bottom line is that fans don't support the team. That building should be close to full every game. We're averaging 10,000 a game after going deep into the tourney for the last four years and coming off a final four. It's pathetic, but it is what it is.

Who is this "we" to which you refer?

Are you pregnant?

Possibly but they left KY out a few years back despite some wins over ranked opponents and a 21-11 overall and 12-6 SEC record. Maybe us being so shorthanded early would get us in however.

I just don't get dannygator and a few others who only care about football and then bash the rest of us who like and appreciate other sports. While it's true that the football program is the money engine that makes the entire athletic budget, many of us enjoy ALL sports. I truly admire the way Jeremy Foley has built a well rounded athletic program and very much appreciate the numerous athletes who get no scholarships or only partial scholarships and yet put in the same time and effort in developing their skills as the football and basketball players. And at UF, we have success and an opportunity to pull for our teams competing at the highest level during the fall, winter and spring. To me that's a lot more enjoyable that being a one-trick pony fan. But to each his own. If somebody just likes football and that's all they care about, fine - but please don't condemn the rest of us for caring about all of our teams, athletes and coaches.

I admit I am mostly a football fan and I am mostly just keeping up with basketball now because we are a power and its one of the 2 big college sports but I think that is how most Gator fans are now. When I went to UF you couldn't hardly give a basketball ticket away let alone the smaller sports. I don't keep up with the smaller sports at all but think it is good that some people do.

Actually when Billy leaves Uf will be fine.

The level of talent in FHAA basketball is light years ahead of what Florida produced 15 years ago.

You can win without leaving the State. When Billy started that wasn't the case.

If this team gets it together they have the pieces to make a special run.

We are more talented than last years squad, the team will be night and day come February.Still a lot of season left.

Thank you, gamecock fan. He may or may not be the best, but he's right up there.
