Season is underway right now - Gators hosting Western Carolina on SEC+. UF beat USF 2-1 and tied Georgia Southern in exhibition matches. Here's the schedule for this year:

Well, the Gators had a lackluster tie with UNF 0-0 on Thursday and then played much better in gaining a 2-2 tie against amuch better UCF team on Sunday. So 1-0-2 after 3 games is not bad.

seems to be slow steady improvement since the nightmare 2 seasons ago.

UF soccer playing @ Towson in Maryland Sunday at Noon. Towson is 2-2-1, with wins over UMBC 1-0 and Delaware St. 9-0, a 1-1 tie with St. Johns and losses to Virginia 2-0 and George Washington 3-0.

I couldn't watch the game, but it seems the officiating was heavility one-sided. 24 fouls called on Florida, only 6 on Towson. Florida played short-handed the last 21 minutes of the game and they scored a free play goal with 10 seconds left in the match for a 1-1 tie. Gators now 2-0-3.

Better than taking the L.

3-1-3 not too shabby. I believe we have 10 games left and we are halfway to last years win total. Ocala you think we can snag 4 wins in the last 10?

We actually have a match Sunday in Ft. Myers against Florida Gulf Coast and then 10 SEC games. The teams on our SEC schedule have the following records: Kentucky 7-0; Auburn 7-0; Tennessee 5-1-2; Missouri 2-4-1; Texas 7-0-1; South Carolina 2-0-4; Georgia 3-2-2; Vanderbilt 5-0-2; Alabama 6-2; Oklahoma 6-1. We went 2-4-4 in the SEC last year. Hopefully we can improve on that, but we've fallen so far behind most SEC schools in soccer it's going to be hard tocatch up. Scoring goals and being more aggressive in the midfield area are still issues. We spend too much time just trying to control the ball without really putting together a series of quality passes and attacking to goal.

Looking at the records of those other teams looks like it's going to be very tough to get 2 more wins much less 4.

Another "thrilling" 0-0 soccer match for our Gators. We outshot FGCU (who came into the match 1-4) 16-4, but continually struggle putting the ball into the net. It gets real Thursday when we open @ #21 Kentucky.

Another scintillating match, as the Gators only got off a total of 2 shots for the entire game, none on goal. Kentucky only got off 7 shots, 1 on goal.
But on the positive side, Florida goes on the road to open SEC play, and battles #20 Kentucky, 8-0-0 going into the match, to a 0-0 tie. That's pretty good. But man they need offense!!!

Since we suck at football, can we talk Women's Soccer smack?

I experienced my first ever collegiate soccer match a couple of Sundays ago at Auburn. Gators lost a thriller 1-0 as you know but other than a penalty kick we would have had a tie or win if the last minute shot had been an inch or two lower. Lots of gators fans were there.

Another 0-0 tie for the Gators. I watched the 2nd half of this game and Florida had several more chances to score and just couldn't get it done. I shot hit the posts and 2 others were stopped by great players from Georgia's goalkeeper. The chances of the Gators qualifying for the SEC tournament get slimmer and slimmer each match where they don;t get 3 points for a win.

Certainly feels like they are a little better than last season, so the improvement continues. There is help on the way next year. While not the season you want, it is still going in the right direction.

Gators get shutout again, this time by Vanderbilt 2-0. We're now 4-6-5, 1-4-2 in the SEC, with diminishing chance to even qualify for the SEC tournament, let alone the NCAA's. 3 more games left in another disappointing season. Not sure how much progress this team has made. We're consistently near the bottom of the SEC after dominating the league for so many years.
