GameDay Thread/Florida vs FSU

Grier doesn't miss on that wide open pass to Callaway in the first quarter. A halfway decent pass there and we take a 7-0 lead. It's plays like that can cause you to lose games. The first pass of the game Goolsby is wide open for a 10 yard gain. The pass was so bad and behind Goolsby that we only make 1 yard. Bad pass after bad pass and missed opportunities add up and Harris

Grier was also getting his first starts and PT this year and he would at least had the opportunity to improve as the season progressed. Harris has quite a few starts under his belt and he's regressing. He's just not a QB.

The play calling is fine other than we throw too much on first down. But no playcalling is going to make Harris all of a sudden throw a pass in the vicinity of his WRs.

The team is well coached but still missing some critical pieces. No oline and no QB.

The best thing to happen to Grier in hindsight might have been the suspension. Otherwise all these issues would have caught up with him and y'all would be ripping him apart just the same. It wouldn't be this bad, for sure but t was only a matter of time with this BS. It's pathetic. Halter just got put on his ass by a damn DB.

When Grier gets back we should be in much better shape as an offense and he won't have to suffer through any of this. I still want Nuss gone though. The play calling is anything but fine. He calls a good drive here and there, like the first few in this game. But he's still the guy who coordinated an offense in the 100s at Michigan and still the guy who was told to kindly find other employment by Saban. He sucks. Predictable and has no feel for a a game whatsoever. He does nothing to help this offense.

LOL. Throw the ball Treon! AWFUL. Sorry you can't defend Treon's play. He's worse than Driskel.

If you're a backup to Treon, you're simply not a QB!

Then why give them hats and dress 'em out? Maybe they are kickers? Can we try that?

Sorry buddy. As you have pointed out, the offense was just as bad in other areas when Grier ws the QB. He makes quick decisions, finds open receivers and runs with authority.

IOW, not Treon.

Bad Oline or not we are NOT winning with Treon. Why not at least try Grady for a series??

Treon is damn putrid. Terrible arm strength, terrible accuracy, can't see a blitz coming a mile away, holds on to the ball forever and a year, doesn't take off when there are wide open running lanes - anything else?

The guys arm strength is so bad he has to try and put everything he can in to downfield throws and ends up lollipopping his throws every time.

Against bad defenses. When we played any decent ones, like Mizzou, we got held to 2 offensive TD's, none of which came from the QB. The three best defenses we've played have been during the last few stretch of games. To pretend as if all would be right by switching one player out is just naive. Unless he was gonna block and run for himself, that bullshit doesn't fly against good defenses. Which Vandy, UGA, FSU, etc are. You can't be that one dimensional. Again, Grier is better and the offense would be better now. But not to the degree people like to pretend. There's too much romanticizing going on right now.

This is not an elite defense. It is good. But we should have at least 13 to 17 point on the board right now. If Treon could hit wide open receivers. The ones he threw to, not the ones he refused to throw to.

name a game more Florida than this

Treon will go right back out there the entire game and do the same thing every 3 plays....and get excused for it

I guess I will only be concerned if we don't make a concerted effort to sign a kicker and some more OL this year.

On another note I saw where De'Andre Johnson is at he game being recruited by Florida ( his brother is a 2018 target). As BAD as Treon is I do not want that thug.

Another pass batted down. Good job Treon. Throw it just above your OLs heads.

Who would have guessed Valdez would get the first down for us?

Fun fact: FSU has never shut us out.

Sorry...Harris has gotten progressively worse since LSU. Grier was getting better. No way we need OT to beat FAU with Grier. Or need late score to beat Carolina by 10. Or late FG to beat Vandy.

Don't disagree but unless we fix these glaring issues we will be right back at this point next year. I remember all the posts about how horrible Grier was before the 4th quarter against UT, when people were begging for Treon. And yes he was playing bad but it wasn't all him just like it ain't all Harris now. He's bad, really bad this game especially. But you ain't gonna keep being in 2nd and 3rd and long series after series and have the QB take a beating and go anywhere.

And just as I say that our center rolls another snap back. I don't get how people can't see this stuff. It's complete breakdown across the board. Like I keep saying Grier was good enough to overcome it at times, but at some point the dam would have broke all the same. Not to this level, but it would have. We can't even do basic shit right. It's embarrassing.

Looky there. I've been calling for two weeks for us to go to some tempo to help out the offense we finally do it and we have the best drive of the game. Like I've been saying, we make t way harder than it needs to be. We don't do anything to help a struggling QB or line. Tempo is the perfect thing to help that. No thinking, it's two minute.
