So was SEC champ Auburn, double digit win Mississippi State in the Orange Bowl, UGA last year and double digit win UF this year all some of the SEC's worst?
It is not just the media.
In aggregate, ranking systems rate the ACC team worse than the teams in the other P-5 conferences. By a lot.
So get butt hurt all you want about supposed media bias. But it IS based on fact.
For the most part, the ACC does a great job at scheduling OOC vs P5 teams (in an attempt to boost its reputation). That said, it's pretty moot when you don't WIN THE DARN GAME!
The ACC is getting better and trending upward, but they still have a ways to go and sustainment will be key. Definitely curious to see how the ACC fairs during the Bowl Season (was last year a fluke?).
Bowl games will make a difference. But more in perception than in calculation. Right now, the ranking of conferences is based on all the games played by all the teams in a conference. So, for a 14 team conference, that ranking is based on 168 games. How many ACC teams will make it to bowl? Eight, maybe nine? Those extra games will move the needle if all the ACC teams win. But not by a lot.
Even if one considers ONLY non conference games, there are still a relatively big number of games compared to bowl games; (4 non conference games) times (14 teams) for a total games of 56. Adding bowl games will influence non conference rankings in a measurable way. But it won't overwhelm it.
The die is cast. For this year anyway.

It didn't mean much really. The loss to Clemson is what kept us out of the playoff, not the loss to GT.
