FOURTH CONSECUTIVE LOSING SEASON FOR HOLES!!’

Igloo what's your take on Norvell? What does he need to do in year 3 to keep his job? I have to think the seat is a little warm.
Personally, I like CMN. Unlike Willie's over-all losing record and rumors of being disorganized, CMN has a reputation of neither. He did very well at Memphis, but it's concerning (to me) he didn't win a single bowl game during his tenure.

Furthermore, I don't think folks give enough credit to the state of our program when CMN took over. While Florida has gone though some coaches, your program was never really left in complete disarray; Muschamp and Mac didn't just throw in the towel like Jimbo did. His divorce took a toll on him and then when TAM came calling he completely abandoned the program. When Willie came in, he put most of his focus on academics, getting our grad rates back to where they needed to be, but his assistant hires were atrocious and he was just in over his head. It doesn't help that early signing periods screw new-hire coaches in recruiting.

I think CMN needs another season to get his guys on the team. What I liked about this year's team is I never saw them quit (unlike the teams from 2016-2020). If he can have an 8-4 type season next year, I think he's plenty safe.

Mac didn’t throw in the towel? The dude made up death threats to get out of here and stopped recruiting towards the end.

I meant while an active coach, not a hot-seat coach. Jimbo was in zero danger of being fired. He would still be at FSU if he wanted to be. Jimbo took his eye off the program, then after the Bama loss he completely threw in the towel.

Norvell is 8-14 so far after 22 games. Willie had 9 wins by the 21st game.

But you are right, F$U didn’t quit.

2022 should start off with a win but the matchup against LSU could be trouble. Norvell must find a way to move on from Jordan Travis. Too limited a QB.

Any kind of slip up in 2022 against Louisiana or weak ACC teams and Norvell’s seat becomes thermonuclear hot. Losses to LSU and/or UF are possible but not deal breakers in my book unless overall record is bad again.

Norvell hasn’t done very good so far but he does have the good fortune of playing in the ACC. He is supposed to be an offensive coach but they have been terrible on offense two years in a row. He seems to be recruiting pretty decent and that will help.
You are right in that FSUs QB situation is terrible. They have nothing besides Travis and he’s hurt all the time. I’m assuming they are going to try and hit the portal for one.

With a $40 million buyout in 2017, I'd say he was in no danger at all.

If they don't fire him, FSU most likely won't have him sign an extension, so Cornrows most likely will be around for at least 4 out of his 6 year contract no matter his record in 2022.

Going into the Gator game I think FSU led the nation in red-zone offense, scoring like 29 straight times. FSU's biggest issue (I saw this season) was 3rd down efficiency typically due to frack'n drive-killing penalties that always forced us into 3rd and long. I think we're like 80th in penalties. Seriously, I want to see a true 2nd season under Norvell. 2020 was a joke, players were literally quitting and we fielded the youngest team in the country. IMO, this was CMN's first season. We'll see how he does next year.

FSU 73rd in the country in scoring offense. 85th in yards per game (2020 was better). 69th in yards per play. Not very good at all.
Other 2nd year coaches such as Aranda, Tucker, Pittman, Leach & Kiffin didn’t seem to have these same problems and playing in tougher conferences. It is what it is. He just hasn’t done a very good job with the offense in his first 2 years.

Oh, I'm fully aware. This is what I hope to see:

2020 - 3-6*
2021 - 5-7
2022 - 8-4
2023 - 10-2

In addition to win/loss progression, I'd like to see more discipline resulting in less penalties, less 3rd and longs and better 1st/2nd down efficiency. Hopefully with another year in the system and better recruiting we'll start seeing this. If not, then CMN isn't the guy and we'll need to go hunting again.

I'm long past being a spoiled fan expecting a natty each year...I just want to have winning records, be competitive, win the conference here and there and go bowling EVERY year.

Yes penalties are a big problem and a sign of poor coaching/undisciplined team. Look how many UF had this year. It was pretty bad.

Our season spiraled into a disaster. And we may lose the toilet bowl to whoever and end up 6-7 as well.

But the Holes and Norvil have their 4th consecutive losing season. Norvil still hasn’t won as many games as Willie.

Has it really been 4 losing seasons in a row?
Should have been 5 losing seasons.
FSU has not been bowl eligible since 2016 even though they've played in two bowl games since then. When there aren't enough bowl eligible teams to play in all the bowls, the bowl selection committees have to some decissions.

Holes wanted to keep the bowl streak alive at all costs. Gators broke it in Tally in 2018.

I know we can make excuses but what is incorrect about the statement "they're going thru their worst stretch in decades and we struggled to beat them"?
It’s myopic and defeatist and pretty much the definition of glass half empty.

So it's technically correct but lacks appropriate rah rah.
I guess? But that’s really letting it off the hook. It’s desperately trying to find a negative spin on something that is pretty positive, and completely, and I mean absolutely, ignores any and all context. So a pretty useless comment imo, and while perhaps technically correct, it is so myopic and forcibly negative as to be pretty much worthless. Or I guess I could have just said it’s a troll comment.

"I disagree."

Good grief. Was it that hard?

Exactly, this was a beautiful win. The amount of stuff I get to crow about to Noles about this victory for years to come is great. First, we have the whiff on the inside kick, which Nole fans just loved to always talk crap about the two UF linemen blocking each other years ago, and this is worse than that. Second, the fact that NorveLLLLLLL lost to a lame duck coaching staff when they thought they were making progress and the fact that they now have four consecutive losing seasons. Also, when UF went 4-8 in 2013, all I heard from Noles was “it’s great to be a 4-8er” and all kinds of lame taunts, but four consecutive losing seasons is way worse than one 4-8 season.

And finally, the fact that UF beat them down in 2018 to end their bowl streak and the fact that they had a chance to bowl again this year and UF stopped them again. So many great things from this game, man.
Not disagreeing with any of that, but I have an additional point.

Had they beaten us, they would have won three in a row, been bowl eligible, claimed the state championship, and been able to sell to recruits that they were on a serious rise. By beating them, we put a halt to all that. Now we are the team bringing in the exciting new coach and starting a new era, and they are the team that can't get over the hump. That win put a huge change on the trajectories of the perceptions of both teams. Had they won they would have shot up and we would have gone into complete free fall. Now we took a turn upwards, reaffirming our dominance of the state, and they fell back to the bottom. The result of this "battle" of two mediocre teams could play large in the futures of both teams.

Knowing NorveLLLLLLLLLLLLL, he would have given his team "State Chamionship" rings like Fisher did back in 2016, or was it 2015?

Maybe Butch Jones has some leftover "Champions of life" T-shirts in his garage or something. They might be orange, though; that might not go over too well.

Are you sure that wasn’t just the ring I made to celebrate FSUs SEC East championships?

Four consecutive losing seasons have lowered their standards. A beating pulse and coaching a full 60 minutes are now the only requirements for an F$U HC. Any win means a contract extension.
Also, you should probably look at the actual data rather than win/loss record. 5-7 SUCKS! BUT it also doesn't tell the full story (with regards to improvement). If this recruiting class continues to come together as expected, I suspect you'll see an entirely different FSU by 2024. Hell, 2023 should be marked improvement.

If they didn’t lower his buyout or restructure his contract then likely a mistake by FSU.

You sure about that recruiting class? It is Norvell’s 3rd class at FSU and it looks to possibly have fallen apart.
