Florida Gators shortstop signee Brendan Lawson has been selected in the 19th round of the 2024 MLB Draft. The St. Louis Cardinals selected Brendan Lawson on Tuesday with the 561st overall pick of the 2024 MLB Draft.


Brendan Lawson is a 6’3” 205-pound shortstop out of P27 Academy in South Carolina but is originally from Toronto, Canada. On Perfect Game, Lawson is the 55th-ranked prospect and the twelfth-ranked shortstop in the country. He’s also the top prep prospect from Canada.


Lawson was the first Canadian prospect to sign with the Florida Gators in the Kevin O’Sullivan era. On MLB Pipeline, Lawson is the 156th-ranked prospect in the 2024 draft class. He was also named a Perfect Game All-American. Lawson announced earlier today that he will honor his commitment to the University of Florida.
