Sophomore middle infielder Colby Shelton is the fourth Florida Gators player to get drafted in the 2024 MLB Draft. The Washington Nationals selected Colby Shelton on Tuesday with the 590th overall pick of the 2024 MLB Draft.


Before arriving at Florida, Colby Shelton had an excellent freshman season with the Alabama Crimson Tide. Shelton was named to the SEC All-Freshman team in 2023. Shelton entered the Transfer Portal and signed with the Florida Gators.


In his sophomore season, Shelton was an impact hitter for the Gators. Shelton slashed .254/.374/.551 with 65 hits, fourteen doubles, 20 home runs, 56 RBIs, 35 walks, and a .925 OPS. On MLB Pipeline, Shelton is the 133rd-ranked prospect in the 2024 MLB Draft. Shelton is expected to return to Florida for his junior season.
