Florida Baseball 2025

I think they're already there.
They should be. I’ve listened to a few podcasts, baseball America and D1 baseball where they said probably max of two host out of: Florida, UT, Bama and Ole Miss. SECN said the same yesterday.

It’s total nonsense that teams from Big 12 and ACC are going to host regionals over any of those teams. If you’re .500 in the SEC you should host. Any of those teams would win 22 games in the Big 12 or ACC.

Be interested to see who we pitch tonight. UT beat Bama so UT may be in line to host. UF and Ole Miss may be a play in game to grab the last spot. I would guess McNealie.

Both teams went with their aces, Peterson vs. Elliot. So far, into the 5th innings, their ace has been better than ours.

It would be great to get back to the CWS, and I think, with some breaks, we could, but that is a recognition of the grit of this team more than the talent, since so much of the talent is sidelined this year. Really, just proud of all they accomplished getting this far. It's all gravy after this.

Another trip to Omaha would be incredible. Seemed like the back end of our pitching got some good innings in the last few series and the SECT. Hopefully that depth plays for us the next couple weekends.

I think we'll have Colby Shelton back, but we're still missing 3 of our starting 8 from the opening day lineup and losing Luke Heyman recently is huge. But this has been a resilient group.

Peterson has No 1 stuff but not a No 1 temperament. We were lucky to get out of the first with 2 runs. Donay dropped a ball that probably would have got us out of the inning scoreless.

Let’s get these bats going.

This whole thing has been brutal to watch
I quit watching in the 4th when it went to 9-0. ECU just came out focused and on fire and we looked half asleep. They have to flush it and try to win 4 straight. Not probable, but still possible.

Well we’ve got good pitching next two starts at least. Then we’ll have Peterson on Sunday night since he was out there for about 15 minutes today.

There's no reason why we don't have enough fire power offensively to still turn this around anyway.. Though the last two games they've played have not looked good

Plus, Heyman's bat and catching skills are sorely missed. Donay is not nearly as good a defensive catcher as Luke.

We’re lucky to have Donay as a backup but no question Heyman makes that play tonight down the second run and we probably get out of that inning down 1-0. Then Peterson probably Lu doesn’t melt down and it’s a completely different game.

Seeded teams are getting knocked off. Parity is everywhere and no game can be taken for granted. #15 Ole Miss is losing to Murray State in the Oxford Regional. Utah Valley is beating #5 Oregon in their Game 1. Columbia beat #12 Southern Miss. St. Marys beat #8 Oregon State.

Gators destroying Fairfield (as they should). Freshman Aiden King pitching well and heading towards a complete game, which will save arms to try to win 2 on Sunday.

I think when it comes to the post season, it's a matter of last man standing. What I mean by that is knocking out the other starter pitcher and getting into a weak bullpen. We've got the bats, but do we have enough arms to make it out of the loser's bracket again?

If we beat ECU this afternoon…
Pierce Coppola is more talented and prepped fir this start than anyone ECU can pull from the Pirates’ thin staff. Hopefully Pierce gives us 5 ir even 6 dominating innings and our bats take advantage of ECU’s back-of-the-staff pitching. But who starts tonight, should Florida meet Coastal? Guessing Sully will go with our transfer midweek starter and save Liam for Monday, provided our guys can win their way to that game.

Agree that Peterson won't pitch today. Coppola is almost unhitable when he's on. His problem has always been finding the strike zone consistently and throwing way too many pitches. It would be awesome if he could go 5 or 6, but his pattern has been more like 3 or 4. IF we win, my guess is tonight's starter will either be the veteran Billy Barlow or the freshman Jackson Barberi. But it's one game at a time and we've got to beat East Carolina befor even thinking about Coastal Carolina, who used their ace pitcher last night.

Too many injuries to overcome, inconsistent pitching all year and too many holes in the defense and in the batting order. We're going to see a whole lot of new faces on next year's roster. Disappointing season all around.
Yes and I’m sure no one is more disappointed than coach O’Sullivan and his players.

Sounds like the boys and girls got a lot in common. Now that they are both done and basketball has been over for a month, hopefully its time to concentrate on football.
