Florida Baseball 2025

No midweek this week. Should be fully loaded for USC. Good to see Ty Evans back in the lineup against Arky. Getting a little healthier.

Aaaannnnd just as I say we’re getting healthy Shelton going to miss 3 weeks. Brutal.

I will say Bosur did a pretty good job at ss on Sunday against Arky. And the lineup has been churning but jeez that’s a tough injury.

That is very tough news about our best hitter and solid SS. Good news about Coppola. When he's healthy he can be devastating.

Kind of a bummer rain delay makes us burn Peterson and pitch a bullpen game. Why start a game if there’s 3 hours of weather nearby. Freaking gamecock incompetence. We’re going deep into the night.

I don’t know if it was an optical illusion but Ty Evans just a grand slam to dead center that looked like it went 100 feet out. Freaking bomb.

South Carolina screwed us by letting the game start knowing there was lightning and storms in the area. Took our #1 pitcher out of the game. They have radar and know the weather is coming. Game never should have started until it went through. Hopefully, Peterson can pitch Sunday. Meanwhile, Gators are still winning 8-5 in the 7th. Unethical maneuver by the Gamecocks.

Gators destroyed South Carolina 22-3 in the completion of yesterday's game that was suspended in the bottom of the 3rd with the Gators up 1-0. They exploded for 5 runs in the 8th and 11 more in the 9th to break wide open a game that had been fairly close.
Would love to get the sweep in game 3, a 7 inning affair, starting at 5:30. We're now 10-13 in the SEC, 32-16 overall. Incredible rally after starting 1-11 in the SEC. Moving Jake Clemente to the closer role has played a major part in our resurgence.

I can't get the shortened 3rd game even though I pay YoutubeTV a fair sum every month. Pisses me off.

I have YouTubeTV and the game was on SEC+. I watched it all. If you have an ESPN package with your YouTubeTV service and it includes the regular SEC Network, you get SEC+ at no extra cost. You just have to access it via the ESPN app. https://www.espn.com/watch/

Gators get the sweep and win 8-0 in the 7 inning 3rd game. Pierce Coppola only pitched the 1st inning for Florida and then freshman Jackson Barberi threw 3.1 and freshman Christian Rodriguez threw the last 2.2. Bats were hot all day. 11-13 in the SEC now, 33-16 overall. I don't think any other SEC team has gone 10-2 over the last 4 weekends like the Gators did.

While D1 Baseball doesn't have Florida in its Top 25, they do have us #16 in RPI, #6 SOS. Warren Nolan has us #15 RPI, #5 SOS, with an ELO ranking of #6. Baseball America has us at #22. Definitely getting back in the mix.

Mentally not there tonight and got smoked at home.
They probably earned a night off. Incredible series coming up this weekend. I’ve read and heard a lot that UT has been doing it a little bit with smoke and mirrors, but sometimes that just means you know how to play baseball. That’s a tough environment there as well.

Big thing is UT can really pitch. Would love to see us win one more than we lose. If we do, we might be in the mix to host a regional.

It would be great to host a Regional, but that's likely not to happen. Texas is currently #1 in RPI, #14 in SOS, 19-5 in the SEC, 25-3 at home and 14-7 in Quad 1 games. Florida is #19 in RPI, #5 SOS, 11-13 in the SEC, 9-7 on the road and 7-14 in Quad 1 games. It would be great if we could take 2 out of 3 in Austin, but they've won 13 straight at home and I just don't want to get swept and face needing to beat Alabama 2 of 3 at home next weekend to guarantee an NCAA tournament slot.

Well then...........some of the games come up on Youtube TV sports, some do not. Today I could not get the game on my Samsung TV but was watching from my laptop through ESPN, then logging in with my youtubetv credentials......but my TV was being an asshole and there was no path to it because it is a damned Disney app. Naturally getting tech support from youtube is like trying to launch nuclear codes and the number I called said call back during business hours. I guess those turds do not have weekend support? Now it's a damned rain delay anyhooos. 🙁

Rain delay with Gators up 2-0 and Peterson pitching very well hurt us badly. And when the game started back up, our bullpen had 1` terrible inning and our bats were dead. 16 K's total for the game. Hopefully we can get the rubber game Sunday.

Good game today, but thought they yanked the starter too soon. I don't GAF what the pitch count is when the guy is cruising. Thought they were gonna blow it with 4 walks in 2 innings in relief. 🙁

True but it’s hard not to go with Clemente there. He has been dominant for a good stretch of time. Even though his control was off today Texas just couldn’t put a good swing on him.

O'Sullivan ALWAYS protects his pitcher's arms. That's why so many high quality pitchers go to Florida. King had thrown 110 pitches through 7 innings. That was 20 pitches, roughly, more than he's thrown in a games this season. There was no way he was coming back to start the 8th. Clemente has been money over the last several weeks, going as many as 3 innings to close games. It was absolutely the right move to make - and it worked out fine. We won the game.

Yeah I think they said he had only thrown 90+ three times.

He is some pitcher. If we get Coppola, Peterson, King pitching like that, look out.
