Florida Baseball 2025

Even the great ones have an off season eventually.
Grit teeth and move on past it if this season end up as a stinker....
I won't worry about Sully unless he can't turn it around next season.
(same for softball if they struggle)

Completely agree. O'Sullivan has proven himself to be one of the greats of college baseball. He can't control the injuries, but needs to figure out why some of his players aren't developing like they should. He consistently has a Top 10, usually Top 5, recruiting class and yet this is the second year in a row we're struggling to finish the season above .500.

ehhh, if we're being honest Sully hasn't been much more than a Calipari of baseball with all the talent he's had.. I appreciate how many trips to Omaha we've had, but to have only won one time with the loaded rosters he's had.. It's time for people to start having some real conversations and be tough about how "great" is he actually.

Sully’s got a lifetime gig as far as I’m concerned but this is 3 years running where his pitching stinks and he recruits anyone he wants. So I do hope he’s taking a hard look at our approach. Seems like we never throw anything off speed for strikes. Everything breaking is off the plate. So we get a lot of strikeouts but we end up in a bunch of hitters counts and they can just sit on fastballs and destroy them.

And hitting we swing a lot early in the count. So we run into some good pitches but when we dont hit them we end up behind in the count.

Generally we are ALWAYS behind in the count, pitching or hitting, and that’s bad baseball.

Sully bitches about it all the time but it’s like dude, you’re the head coach.

Well, if we're being FACTUAL, Florida's baseball program has been ranked as one of the Top 5 in the nation for a long, long time. And the reason for that is Kevin O'Sullivan. He's gotten us to the CWS 9 times since he came to Gainesville in 2008. We'd only been 5 times in our entire history before that. 6 regular season SEC titles under Sully as well.
D1 Baseball ranks UF as the 4th best overall baseball program as of March 25, 2025. In 2024 they had us as the #3 program, with rankings in the Top 5 going back to 2015. That's the "honest" truth.

yea, it's certainly not fair especially at this point to critique Sully AT ALL.. getting fortunate to make the CWS last year covered up and made people forget the year was a DISASTER, and this one is maybe the worst one we've seen or it's shaping up to be.

Look I appreciate the hell out of what Sully has done for our baseball program long term, but all these things you're saying are right.. and they're constant and never get changed, that's not a good sign of good baseball management.. So we have to simply out talent everyone, cool as long as he keeps getting that talent.. again, VERY john calipari'ish.. the baseball version.

These are the batting averages from the 12 in conference games played so far.....
28 Heyman, Luke .386
10 Shelton, Colby .333
6 Boser, Bobby .280
16 Yost, Hayden .250
11 Lawson, Brendan .243
29 Donay, Brody .219
5 Cyr, Blake .216
2 Evans, Ty .182
30 Wilson, Ashton .167
13 Stripling, Landon .152
1 Nadeau, Justin .132

You can point at other batting stats if you want but they don't get much better. And here are the team numbers for and against...
Totals .244
Opponents .311

These are the pitching ERAs from the 12 in conference games played so far.....
9 McNeillie, Luke 4.38
47 King, Aidan 5.40
12 Peterson, Liam 7.90
20 Clemente, Jake 9.00
99 Montsdeoca, Carson 9.00
34 Philpott, Alex 9.53
23 Barlow, Billy 10.64
22 Barberi, Jackson 13.50
44 Ong, Felix 13.50
33 Biemiller, McCall 15.75
21 McDonald, Caden 18.00
8 Rodriguez, Christian 21.00
17 Gomberg, Jacob 40.50
26 Janssens, Niko 54.00
37 Jenkins, Matthew 99.00

Then ask yourself if you were coach, how would build a pitching rotation with these kind of numbers???
And here are the team ERA numbers for and against...
Totals 9.63
Opponents 4.03

Say what???

Sully has been a great baseball coach, but he has a lot of personal baggage only a few of us know about. I'm not sure it is his fault, but it is what it is. Those who know, know. But to be truthful it has nothing to do with the current state of the baseball team. I do not watch Gator baseball until the the basketball season is over. I watched us beat the Nulls tonight. Sully is pissed about his pitchers and rightly so. These guys can't throw strikes. It's a matter of proven statistical science that a good pitcher vs a good batter, the pitcher who throws strikes wins 66% of the time against even the best hitters as long as they don't walk batters and get into full blown jams. The Gator pitchers can't get out of their own way in this regard, I don't care what kind of heat you got.

4 wins in the SEC. Need 8 more. Won’t be easy but they’re out there.
Yep - We have to start somewhere and a sweep against a very weak Missouri team is as good a place as any. We go to Starkville next weekend and right now they're only 4-10 in the SEC with another game tomorrow. But after that we have Arkansas, South Carolina, Texas & Alabama. Going 8-7 down the stretch ain't gonna be easy. But at least now we have a chance to make a run to get back in the hunt for an NCAA bid. Pitching was much better this weekend than it has been in a good while.
