Florida Baseball 2025

Ok, so I hat to keep belaboring this, but we scratch out a run to take the lead 3-2. King is pitching very solid. He’s a victim of some soft contact and bad infield defense (which seems to be a thing) and we take him out for philpott up 3-2, one out 5th inning.

Didn’t like the switch but ok. Philpott gets victimized by some more sloppy defense is 3-1 with guys on first and second and throws a freaking slider for ball 4! What in the world! Then he hits the next guy on an 0-2 count and there you go.

We literally handed them 4 runs in a 3-2 game with sloppy defense and bad pitch approach/execution.

This is not an anti sully rant, like I said he’s got a lifetime option as far as I’m concerned. But our pitching collapses are not just gee those are just the brakes I guess. This is what happens every time!

King gave up 3 straight singles to start the 5th, got a K and then an infield single that was just one of those things that happens. To me, it was time to take him out. Philpot strikes out his first batter and then falls apart. The game's not over yet, but Miss. St's bullpen failed last night and our first guy out of the pen didn't do his job. It's part of the game.

The SEC is a grind. No easy teams, no easy games. Throwing a freshman pitcher on Saturday at Miss. State where they have crods of 12-15,000, is something he's never seen. King came into the game 4-1 with a 2.68 ERA. Baseball is THE sport in Starkville. Passionate fans and they always have great players. They've lost a ton of 1-run games this year and beating them is always tough.
I'm aware, I've seen many games there.

Nadeau booted a ball at second base that put runners at 2b and 3b instead of 1st and 2nd. Literally all he had to do is bend over and pick up a rolling ball and it would have saved Philpott a run. And whoever called that slider on 3-2 cost him a run.

Taking out King was borderline. 80 pitches. Question is do you think Philpott is going to deal with the next 2 batters better. King isn’t going to walk guys and hit someone 0-2.

I forgot. You know more than O'Sullivan about how to handle his staff. My mistake.

you can't just keep reverting to this every time our coaches do derp shit.. Sully doesn't win because of his ability to manage baseball, he has won because he compiles more talent than most teams. He does stupid things all the time especially with pitching situations, we've had more than a plethora of examples for many years to see trends for what they are.. He either over thinks or doesn't think at all, he's always wanted to pull guys faster than they need to be for many years for sure.

2nd and 3rd, nobody out.. Immediately Two strikeouts, that's not what good teams or well coached teams do TIME AFTER TIME AFTER TIME. It's a problem and it's stayed a problem for FAR too long.

Totally disagree with you. But carry on. Doesn't being negative and disparaging of our teams and coaches ever bother you? But you be you. All good.

It's only negative if you view it from your perspective of blindly supporting everything they do.. Do you think Napier is just gonna wake up one day and get it to, were you like that about Mcelwain before that?

Thankfully Miss State handed us two more runs on 2 errors in the 9th, they handed out plenty of gifts back.. Hopefully they do it again tomorrow for the Sweep

I don't blindly support everything. I do enjoy watching the games and very much appreciate how Kevin O'Sullivan has brought Florida baseball to consistent national prominence - NCAA tournament every year he's been here and all the accomplishments his program has achieved that I previously mentioned. And to demean him the way you continually do and now comparing him to McElwain is ridiculous and laughable.

I didn't compare him to Mcelwain, I asked if you keep this same the Florida coach knows best no matter what attitude with all sports.. because that's certainly a theme, especially around here with some. There's still Gator fans out there that believe one day Napier will figure out how to be a head coach, which will tell you everything you need to know about who you are dealing with.

To deny that Kevin O'Sullivan is one of the best coaches the University of Florida has ever had in any sport is, to me, ludicrous. I put him in the same category as Steve Spurrier, Urban Meyer, Tim Walton, Mike Holloway, Billy Donovan and Mary Wise. You think otherwise and of course you'll probably disparage Mary Wise because she never won a national title, just 25 SEC titles, 13X SEC COY, 3X National COY, 8 Final 4's, 2X National Runner-Up and 1068 wins, most by any D1 women's VB coach in history. No sense arguiing or debating anymore. We're never going to change each other's minds.

Got the hitting again today, but pitching fell totally apart. 2 out of 3 on the road in the SEC is very good, but now we've got to find at least 6 more conference wins in our final 13 games to make it to the NCAA tournament. Arkansas, South Carolina, Texas & Alabama. Gonna be tough.

Was looking at stats from the weekend and you know what is crazy about this team is they don’t have one bench bat. Literally not one person takes an ab other than the starting 9. Injuries really hit this team hard.

Actually they have one bench bat: Stripling. Other than that nobody but the starting 9 have taken an ab since the Vandy series. That was Ty Evans’ last appearance. Presumably hes still trying to get healthy.

I saw, for now.. they had us as one of the last 4 teams to get a bid in.

would be nice to steal some in this final stretch and then not go one and done in the SEC Tourney again.. it's a tall task in this conference though

I mean we went into Stillwater last year and took them out in their regional after that and didn't we go into Clemson last year in their super regional and take both the first 2 games

If we get in a regional, all bets are off. Most of your regional hosts from outside the SEC are going to be at like Miss St. level.

Garbage infielding doomed the Gators today. That was ridiculous.
Apparently, statsbrodcast.com only has 2 errors in that inning, but there were actually 3. But even if Arkansas had only scored 1 or 3 runs, it might be enough. We only had 1 hit until the 6th inning, where we just got another on and then promptly hit into a DP. Razorbacks pitching has shut us down big time. That's why they're a Top 5 team and we're not ranked. But, hopefully, we can get the rubber game Sunday.

It seems impossible that Arkansas hasn't won the CWS with all the teams they've had just in the last decade alone.. It's bound to happen they always seem loaded.. and it seems like it will take a miracle for another SEC team not to win in Omaha again this year

Yeah we just need to junk it up and win a game today. Looks like we should have a pretty fully loaded bullpen. Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing we’ll see,

6 unearned runs lord almighty. To Ocala’s point, We probably weren’t winning that game anyway with their pitching so hopefully got it out of our system

So does that mean Dave Van Horn is a bad coach?

I’ve seen enough of Barlow in any important innings. Long relief and midweek only moving forward please.

Great comeback by the Gators today. Bullpen was tremendous today after the 2nd inning. Great defensive plays and the bats came alive with a bunch of clutch hits. 8-13 in the SEC with 9 left. Our chances of getting to that 12-13 win mark are significantly improved, but they have to go to an average South Carolina team next weekend with the same mentality they approached playing #5 Arkansas. Go Gators!!

Great series win. To your point Ocala, I think we need a min of 12 conf wins to make the tourney
Totally agree. The standard cutoff is 13 win. We were 13-17 last year and was one of the last 4 teams to make the tournament. But with our SOS and RPI, 12 might be enough this year. 13 would be an almost sure thing.

Hopefully we can go 6-3 in these last 9 and lock ourselves in.
