Here are some of the highlights from Foley's time on Sportscene with Steve Russell on Wednesday:
--Foley mentioned that he has talked with Mike White's father, Duke AD Kevin White, about a potential home-and-home with Duke. He added that he thinks Florida will play Duke in New York in possibly the next year or two.
--Foley said the O'Connell Center renovations are "full speed ahead." He said as much construction that could be done while the basketball and gymnastic teams are finishing their seasons is happening now, but starting March 15 the bulk of the work will take place -- such as gutting the inside of the O'Dome.
--The goal is to have the O'Dome completed by December 2016 in time for graduation. Some of UF's games that would have been at home may be played in Orlando and Jacksonville up until that point, Foley reaffirmed.
--Foley was asked about his thoughts on the SEC trying to block Michigan from holding spring practices in the state of Florida. He talked plenty about the time demands on student athletes and how having a team travel for spring practices during spring break isn't conducive to that: "If you went to the NCAA convention this past winter, we had a number of students who stood up to talk about how they needed more time. Here's an institution that's taking its entire team during its spring break to go practice certainly flies in the face of that. I think at the end of the day, I think it'll happen this year one time, but at the end of the day, I'm not sure that'll happen ever again."
--Foley was asked during the show about if a stand-alone football facility, and he continued to reiterate his "master plan." He said that currently, an architect firm since last November has been working on a master plan on all of UF's facilities that should bring a final plan in action this spring. Foley mentions some other things needing to be done in football and providing Jim McElwain and his staff and players with what they need. He called the IPF a "huge benefit to the program."
--Foley mentioned renovating the softball stadium being a high priority as well. He was asked about when replay will be added to the scoreboard at McKethan Stadium. He said it's something that's been discussed internally, but there's no timetable on it.
--Foley was asked throughout his time on the show about adding more seats to The Swamp, adding more shelter and reconstructing the field, but he said that's not on UF's agenda. "90,000 is a good number," he said.
--Foley on if UF will ever add men's lacrosse: “My lifetime’s dwindling here. Probably no in my lifetime.” He doesn’t see right now how financially it’s workable.
