Moving the game from Saturday afternoon April 16th, huge screwup.

TV, as usual. the culprit.

If they use the whole TV timeout package, game will drag on for 3 hours. Which means being on the road & driving home at a late hour.

Motel people dancing, but I wonder how many people will stay in G'ville at a jacked up rate ?

IMO, very few people will drive to G'ville from any distance away, but that is probably the case anyway.

“We’re really excited to announce we’re moving [the game] to Thursday night, April the 14th with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff,” Napier said. “The game will be streamed live on SEC Network[+] in The Swamp, under the lights, April 14th, 7:30 kickoff.

This is going to create an opportunity for us to engage the student body for the first time. We are going to be able to get them here prior to Easter break. (WTF does this mean )

Jeff, we also used to get the game live on TV. Now it's going to stream on SEC-N+. so they won't even have a TV audience for the game.

Maybe SEC-N will rebroadcast it later on....

This isn't the 90s. Most avid sports fans have ESPN+ so, yeah, plenty of people will watch.

Also cool that it's going to be at night, that's got to be a first for us. That should be interesting. It'll feel a lot different than a noon game.

Danny,

You could be right; Hope you are; we will soon see.

Billy is jacked ; hoping large number of quality recruits show up.

The Orange & Blue game used to be free, filled with those that couldn't afford season tickets. And those people would bring their whole family and as many of the neighborhood kids as they could fit in the car. A good day was had by all.

The avid sports fans that are willing or able to pay for the service will have it.
The vast majority of average Gator fans won't.
The percentage of 'out of towners' that choose to show up will be diminished greatly imo.
I'm fine with all that, as it's a NBD thingy for me.
Like many others, I'm becoming less and less of a Gator fan, day by day....

In recent years, many things have changed for the worst at Socialist-U imo.
Maybe I should spend that Thur. evening in the Karl Marx Reading Room instead....

I was planning to go but very doubtful now. Heard it was to get recruits available because other teams were having their spring game that Saturday. I like that idea. If CBN doesn't pan out, it won't be from lack of trying.

SEC+ and ESPN+ are 2 different things. SEC+ is free to those who the ESPN channels and the regular SEC Network as part of your package. ESPN+ is a separate animal that you have to pay $5/month to get. Some do pay extra for ESPN+, but just about everybody has free access to SEC+.

I have mixed emotions on it. Part me doesn’t like the move but it is also Easter weekend that weekend so I could see why even having the game on a Saturday might not get the best attendance. This is for TV and for recruits more than anything and it’s at night.

Tickets were $4.00 in the 90s, don't act like that's a recent change.

You would never spend time in the Karl Marx reading room, but not because of the first two words, because of the third...

I think it puts more fans in the seats. With it being Easter weekend students will be gone. Under the lights will be exciting for recruits. We need to pack BHG and support new staff
learnron,

"This is going to create an opportunity for us to engage the student body for the first time. We are going to be able to get them here prior to Easter break."

Your thoughts put Billy's comments in focus for me, thanks. It may even work out that way.

Probably depends on how many students attend class on Friday or just leave early!

IMO, Packing BHG on Spring Break NOT going to happen - students off to do what students do & alumni / fans not going to drive into G'ville for a night time spring game when its on TV.

Go to a local bar & watch it !

When I was on campus, I tried to not take any Friday classes, leaving me with a three day weekend. My GPA suffered, but as my Dad used to say, everything you learn in college doesn't cum from a book !

Wrong on what the O&B game was, and who it was for.
As always, JMOHO's of course...

It began as fertile ground for attracting new & future Gator fans.

It gave the working class that couldn't usually afford game day tickets a chance to see their team in live action.

It gave a lot of under-privileged kids that would never see a live game in person any other way, a chance to experience a game at old Florida Field.

It was a way for the UAA to 'Give-Back' to their surrounding/supporting community.

With a hundred plus on the roster, how many are going to be the STARS?
The O&B game gave parents and friends a chance to see their kids/ friends get a chance to be on the field and compete, when everyone knew they'd never see the field during the coming season.

All that and much more 'USED TO BE' the Orange & Blue Game, back when Socialist-U used to be the University of Florida Gators....

Yeah buddy, and now we show it on tv.

Just like the games!

Or do you have to go to every game to be a Florida fan?

You do remember when only a select few games were on tv, right?

Wild.
