Why do people make such definitive statements on Franks? He’s a far better passer than Fitzgerald and Dak at the same stage, it isn’t even close actually. Fitzgerald is a senior and could barely get to 50% completion even with Mullen coaching him. And he’s more athletic than both, he runs just fine when he chooses to run. Not sure why people think he’s slow? He’s a 4.6 guy. Guys who are 6’6, 240 aren’t going to look as fluid as someone who is 6’2, 190, Franks has long strides. Just let the dude keep improving and see where it ends up.

Either he improves even more in which case we get a great QB or his presence forces Jones to improve a ton so he grabs the job. Either way it’s win-win for us because it means both QB’s have to up their game. The people who just want to hand Jones the job are shortsighted as hell.

Bust a gut, instihater. You are a damn fool and when you open your mouth, it shows. Comparing Tebow to Namath and others as a pro. LOL Why do you think he couldn't cut it in the NFL? Duh, he couldn't pass, he was like a fullback.
Congrats that you are supposedly a long time Gator. I too, have followed the Gators since Larry Libatore was the QB. I too, follow all Gator sports including softball and volleyball attendance in the last year. But, who really cares?
Well, unsubstantiated idiotic claims by a moe-ron are pretty easy to make on a msg-brd.

Why don't you give me an education and show the first 16 NFL Start stats for those 4 QB's:
Tebow
Elway
Peyton
Namath
Instead of just making ignorant claims...

What I expect from you is more ignorant confetti and/or,,,,

Jeff Driskel got drafted because of his measurables.

Franks will get drafted higher than Jeff, I'd be shocked if he didn't.

Right.

Dak didn't even grab the job full time till his redshirt junior year, and the guy infront of him was garbage. Fitzgerald STILL can't hit water from a boat. Franks with all his flaws is already better than both of them. No telling where Mullen will have him with another offseason. He said himself it would probably take the QB's two offseasons to 'get it.' So we're ahead of schedule.

First, “Leaves for the N.F.L.”? BOOM!!!! I just fell to the floor. Felipe Franks will NEVER EVERRRRRR play in the N.F.L.

He’s good but, is NOT accurate and is not quick enough to play in Mullen’s system. Look at Dak Prescott’s or Fitzgerald’s stats in his system and Frank’s. Nowhere near as close especially running.

Please note Bortles has played for 5 years in the NFL.

Nobody here thinks Franks is the next Brady. But he will play in the NFL.

Franks needs work on accuracy and field vision. Nobody disputes it. But it's equally true that his progression has been somewhere between excellent and amazing. I expect that progression to slow, but continue. It's about refinement now. He's going to look at a lot of tape to better understand where every receiver is expected to be on each play so he knows where to direct his eyes while scrambling. Mullen and his personal QB coach are going to further refine his motion to help increase his accuracy and consistency. He shows grit, leadership, and ability. From this seat, it's all good.

Next year we will have RF Jones and TF Jones backing up RJ Franks, so we will be in good hands. Not worried about the Oline, we took castoffs and underperformers and made a pretty good line, next year a couple of the backups will turn into good players and a couple of the TF will step up. Besides, Mullen knows how to gameplan around line issues. Did anybody see UM overwhelm our Oline the first time we had the ball? Mullen changed the play calling scheme and we scored 34 points on offense. So, yeah, it's all good. What we really need next year if we want to hang with the best in the SEC is a bit more consistency on defense, particularly at CB.

Agreed.

And for most of the season Mullen slowly brought Franks around into the run game, something that he could do but didn't seem to have much confidence in.

Mullen and Franks both seem to have confidence in his run ability now.

That's a legitimate game changer for Franks in this offense.

Especially if we have to deal with a young and inexperienced OL.

Franks has to fine tune some things over the next 8 months but count me as shocked that it's even possible that he's the starter next year, let alone the hands down favorite.

I never would have seen that coming even 2 months ago.

Great coaching and development by Mullen.

O.K. from an insider to the football team and he said that it’s the joke around them is that Franks is not the sharpest tool in the shed. That and besides the U.T. miracle pass last year tell me or the last long bomb he’s completed? Georgia game remember that miss? I can list many of them if you like. The N.F.L. will NEVER happen for Franks. Jones is a legit 4.4 man who can truely run the RPO you know Mullen’s system.
People tend to forget U.M. was missing it’s best D.L. and All American linebacker on Saturday.

He literally completed three deep passes in the bowl game alone. One to Jefferson, one to Lewis, and another to Hammond. Seriously. I swear some of you would rather lose with another QB than win with Franks. So Mullen the guy who has proven time and time again he knows how to develop QB’s is wasting time with this loser because why? For shits and giggles? And LMAO@ Emory being a 4.4 guy. I’m a huge Emory fan but that isn’t even close to accurate. In a foot race he’d lose to Franks. He’s much quicker than Franks but he isn’t that fast in a straight line. He ran 4.7 in camps coming out.

Once people start to bash one of our own they never let up no matter what.

People see Franks and they still think last year. Last year is last year.

Players can improve and good coaching/development matters much more than some of you even realize. Mullen is that guy. I for one see that Franks improved a bunch. That is obvious. I see no reason why he can’t improve more under Mullen’s tutelage. Don’t understand why people can’t be happy for Franks especially what he has to go through last year.

May the best man win the job. If it is Franks I’m more than fine with that. We will have good QB play next year one way or another.

I have totally changed my mind on Mullen and his staff's coaching ability. Franks is just not playing at a good enough level to get us where we need to be so unless his passing skills improve a lot next season we will be in the same boat with him.

I know it was just Idaho but Jones looks like he may turn into a natural with some time. I just don't see Franks ever being that skilled of a player even though Mullen has him not hurting our chances much with his passing.

We will see how this plays out but with Jones the clear # 2 now in getting reps going into the Spring I have a feeling Mullen will have a choice to make early. We might get another Prescott type situation where he won't pull the trigger before the 1st game but will have a really short leash. I just don't see how Franks will be better than Jones next season myself.

Did you not watch the most recent game? Despite who missed the game he completed a long pass to Jefferson plus one to Hammonds.

Yes he missed one vs UGA. He's the first to miss a long pass in college football?

It’s pretty cool that we are now arguing about which QB will be more successful for us rather than which one sucks the least...

It is amazing what a season of good coaching has done for us all...
Remember the days of will it be Dean or Wuerfferl? Will it be Wuerfferl or that new kid Kessler. Will it be Doug Johnson or Palmer. Will it be Palmer or Rex. Will it be Rex or Brock Berlin.

We are just getting started. Just sit back and wait.

Oozie I don’t know who would win a foot race between the two, but Franks definitely has some wheels on him. Our seats at the stadium were behind the end zone. When he took off running I can remember almost to man, gator fans in the section commenting on how fast he got in end zone. I think Feliepe may have thought he needed to dive to get in(or he could have just be showing off:D), but whatever the case he would have easily ran in standing up without being touched.

The UM defense looked stunned at how fast someone that size was running their way. I don’t think they wanted any part of that tackle. If was a great day to be a gator. The confetti, the fans singing the fight song, SEC chants. It felt like the old days under SOS in Birmingham and Urban winning natties! Dan Mullen is the man! He will win championships here, I can almost guarantee it.

The demeanor between the two coaches was striking imho. Harbaugh seemed completely flustered and confused, no sense of adjustments whatsoever. My wife jokingly said she thought Mac was actually coaching for the maze and blue. In stark contrast, CDM looked relaxed, calm, and completely in control of the team and his coaching staff. You can easily tell by watching that he is the alpha and everyone else defers to him. It was such a comfort to see him look down at his coaching chart before calling in a play that resulted in a touchdown! It was literally as if he knew it was going to score when he called it in. This guy is playing chess while most are playing checkers. Folks mark my words...our drought is officially over.

Oh yeah Ooz, does it always rain that much in Atlanta? I thought we were going to have to rent a kayak to get around town. lol

We’re not winning a title next year even if we had Tua at QB. We have multiple units on this team that aren’t good enough/won’t be good enough to get us where we want to go. So I’m not sure why we’re just singling out the QB position. We’re not winning the East with Jones next year either. Just let the team improve.

Yea he doesn’t look like he’s moving fast because he’s big and has a long stride that’s kind of awkward but Franks isn’t slow at all. He picks up yards in a hurry. When he’s decisive he runs fine. Mullen’s been calling more QB runs for a reason.

And yea it’s been raining like hell in Atlanta for a while lol. Weather is bipolar as shit.

Naw, 2019 Jalon will just be holding the position open until 2020 Richardson gets here... :D

Dan/Brian will decide who plays QB, and how many play QB,,, and I'm good with that.

This weather has been killing me.

As the main landscaping season winds down in October (yes, for those of you outside of Florida, it's indeed NOT beautiful all year) I lined up two dozen hardscaping jobs for November and December into January.

This weather is making it impossible to do anything. Ground is too soggy for heavy machinery, too much rain for concrete.

A nightmare. Don't ever remember having this much rain this time of year.

I never know what's happening from day to day. There's been some days here with chance of rain is 70% and then it'll rain for three days straight. Then the day after that is 40 and cold and dry. Day after that is overcast and 70. Weirdest winter in a while.

100%....I'm ready to see Franks kill it next year. If he's the guy and crushes it next year I'll be happy. Guy has gotten my respect on how he's played since Missouri. He had some good moments before that but he's played pretty good and ran the ball tough...made some great plays. He's athletic...if Franks plays the next 2 years and Emory comes in and plays 2 great ones after that...these would all be good things.

Living out west is nice...I grew up near Lakeland...lived in Orlando for 12 years...moved to Reno, NV 5 years ago and the weather out here is so much better. Gets colder but it's not that bad if you're in the valley. NO HUMIDITY...weather is enjoyable...plus the social landscape is very acceptable...casinos/gambling, whore houses, legal bud....all the good stuff lmao

Plus all my Gators on TV here too.
