Great win today Gator Nation but, it’s time ro think about 2019. Does Coach Mullen stay with erratic but improving Felipe Franks, start the athletic Emory Jones or bring in a Graduate transfer?
Personally I say Emory Jones as we saw today that after 2 years that Franks still misses on passes Kelly Lawrence or Jake Fromm doesn’t. We need s TRUE RPO threat that Franks isn’t but is improving.

In my opinion... Franks will the the qb at UF for the next 2 years and will continue to progress.
30 plus td’s this season, could easily turn into 45 next year. He’s starting to figure out how to run the ball and that will make his job throwing the ball, that much easier

Like 95 percent Franks is our starting qb. He’s going to get hype as a first round pick, I’m telling you. He has every measurable, his stats were great, not good, and finally he’s making plays against good defenses. What can you say except Mullen can coach the hell out of a qb.

Unless he's injured or has a shitty spring and fall camp Franks will be starting. Mullen stuck with him for the simple fact that he has all the talent to make every throw, run, and then some, it's always been mental. If he plays with confidence and gets another offseason to figure it out, I don't see him being benched.

My thoughts as well.

Another off-season with Mullen will very likely improve some of those mental issues as well.

We'll see, but if he takes another step forward, gets a little better here and there, he's going to put up big numbers.

Mullen took it slow with him, especially in the run game, for most of the season. Now that he's gotten more confident in it, it'll open up his passing game.

Should be an interesting year.

Any word on Polite yet? Last I heard he hadn't announced that he was leaving.

Franks out-did himself today vs Mich.
Gongrats Feleipe' on a good season and a great bowl game. :)

Next year's QB will be settled on the field between now and Sept, just as it should be.
Franks rsJr
Trask rsJr (if he remains?)
E. Jones rsFr
J. Jones Fr
As always, may the best QB win the job and then lead the Gators to a great season. o_O

Pretty cool of you to praise Franks like that.

As a Trask fan, you should want him to transfer.

Between Franks and the two Jones, he's pretty much run out of opportunity here.

Guy can play, but he needs to go to a school that he can get starting time at.

Yep now that he's running like a 6'6, 240 lb. QB is supposed to routes are coming wide open downfield. That's a huge difference. His accuracy on the short stuff which always sucked is even getting better, he was throwing slants on the money today.

Nothing on Polite but I really do hope he and Taylor comes back. We could have a special season next year if they do. Imagine if Chauncey had come back too, we'd have Marco, CJ, and Chauncey, 3 best DB's in the SEC. I understand why he's leaving but damn it'd be cool if we could start getting our top juniors to stay like these other teams.

Franks is still dumb as shit. Im sry but hes not that good. Mullen is just the master. Its all Mullen. I will give credit where credit is due, Franks improved but i think its because UFs run game was SOOO strong this yr that Mullen was able to simplify things greatly for Franks and put him in positions to succeed so often. Its Mullen

no brainer. FRANKS

What? So, unless he gets hurt, you’ll be satisfied to lose 2-3 games a year as Franks won’t beat Georgia and will lose another 1-2 when he has games like Kentucky and Missouri. He’s not accurate or quick enough to take us to the next level, you know the CFP.

And tell the Jones’ that and they’ll transfer ASAP!

If Franks progresses more over the off season, the guy will probably put up the kind of stats that would get him to leave for the draft early.

He's already got the measurables the NFL loves. Now add this year and a better next year?

Who knows.

But it's a little silly to think the other kids leave, especially Emory. He already has a redshirt. He would have to transfer and then sit another year.

I hope Jones starts as the upside is a lot higher with him. Franks has improved a lot but is not a QB that elevates a team much.

Franks is the team leader, highly respected by both the offense and the defense. I couldn't help but notice when Ventrell Miller was injured, and told he would not be going back in, Franks was consoling the young LB on the sideline. This team is Franks.
Not to mention, the kid just had one of the best seasons in UF QB history responsible for 31 TD's, 24 by air and 7 by run. The NFL definitely awaits this young QB and the Gator record book is about to be assaulted by him. He threw no Int in the last 4 games, all wins and this team will finish in the top 8 or higher. Yes, the Gators are back and some of you seem disappointed it is led by Mullen's choice, FELEIPE FRANKS.

His passing leaves a lot to be desired and his field vision is pretty bad. For us to compete for the SEC we will need an upgrade there imo. He has made huge strides under Mullen however.

You sir, in all due respect, are a complete fool. A probable #8 or higher finish nationally and you complain. 31 TD's by Franks. Tebow in 2009, accounted for 35 with a far better supporting cast.
Most who know football believe he will play in the NFL.
Corrected it for you, hater. Some on here, are very disappointed that the Gators won yesterday and that Franks was the MVP. Learn to live with it. He is the Gator QB until injured or he leaves for the NFL. Wow, the 8th best QB performance in Gator history.

Have to give Frank's a lot of credit. He's clearly gotten much better this year...maybe it's mostly Mullen but Franks has all the talent.

Sorry phootball genius, but Tebow 'ACCOUNTED for 55 TD's in 2007.
He smashed the NCAA 20/20 TD barrier with 32 Passing and 23 Rushing as a tSoph.
Tebow won the 1st Soph Heisman with 55 TD's ACCOUNTED for.... o_O

Fixed it for you, instahater: Tebow in 2009 with far better supporting cast, accounted for 35 TD's, Franks in 2018 accounted for 31. Both pretty impressive.

I think we can all just agree that it’s a good thing Mullen wasn’t the OC for UF in 2009. Would have been disastrous all around.

No I am not. We have got used to seeing bad crap so when he makes some plays people act like he is Superman. He had a good running game but his passing was still not up to a good standard this last game. If he hadn't played last season and we didn't have the meltdown we would be talking about him being the weak link for the offense. Jefferson and them guys would have much better stats if he was a good passer. My guess is Jones probably passes him anyway soon to put this to rest.

I was going TT Soph season (07) to FF rsSo season (18), both with Dan calling the plays, but have it your way...

09 - Tebow Rushing 217 for 910 yds, 4.2 ypc, 14 TD's, L-55
18 - Franks Rushing 96 for 276, 2.9 ypc, 6 TD's, L-21

09 - TT Passing 213 of 314 67.8% for 2,895 yds, 21 TD's, L-80
18 - FF Passing 175 of 299 58.5% for 2,284 yds, 23 TD's, L-65

09 - TT 21 + 14 = 35
18 - FF 23 + 6 = 29
=====

Tebow - Sugar Bowl vs #3 12-0 Cincy (UF 51 - 24 Cin)
Rushing 14 for 51 yds, 1 TD, L-17
Passing 31 of 35 88.6% for 482 yds, 3 TD's
Total Yds 533 yds, 4 TD's.

Franks - Peach Bowl vs #7 10-2 Mich (UF 41 - 14 Mich)
Rushing 14 for 75 yds, 1 TD, L-30
Passing 13 of 23 56.5% for 173 Yds, 1 TD
Total Yds 248 Yds, 2 TD's

I think that Franks had a good year (for him), and it was a great team bowl win.
However, never try to compare FF to TT, it will only embarrass you.

No, instihater, we will let the pro careers be the defining factor. Tebow couldn't throw as you know and couldn't make it in the pros. Franks has the rocket arm. Here's predicting Franks will have the best pro career.

Stupid is as Stupid does,,,, and in your case that's a constant... o_O
Get bitch slapped for your stupidity, so you attempt to change the discussion.

1. Don't G-a-S about the No Fun League, nor do I watch it or support it in any way.
I'm a long time Gator fan. I follow all Gator sports.

2. Tebow's first 16 NFL starts were way better than, Elway's, Peyton's, or Namath's.
Go do some statistical homework before you come off being even dumber than is usual for you. Tebow left the NFL with a winning record as a starter, an NFL Playoff win vs the NFL's #1 defense, and both Bronco team and NFL passing records. He also ran for over 1,000 yards with a 5.0 ypc, good enough for a Pro Bowl if playing RB.
>>> The NFL chitted Tim for reasons other than his football skills.

Fake news is what you seem to know and spew, so have at it, while I try not to bust-a-gut laughing at your village idiot nonsense... :D:D:D

Bust a gut, instihater. You are a damn fool and when you open your mouth, it shows. Comparing Tebow to Namath and others as a pro. LOL Why do you think he couldn't cut it in the NFL? Duh, he couldn't pass, he was like a fullback.
Congrats that you are supposedly a long time Gator. I too, have followed the Gators since Larry Libatore was the QB. I too, follow all Gator sports including softball and volleyball attendance in the last year. But, who really cares?

The off-season is kicking off nicely I see.

Nation, look at whose in the playoff and their QB.

Bama—-Heisman runner up. 24/27 yester.
Clemson—Stud Freshman accurate, smart
and Nerves of Steel.
Oklahoma-Heisman winner. Puts the duel in
duel threat.
Notre Dame—Got in why but, still a good QB.

Felipe Franks is a good QB SINCE Dan Mullen
got ahold of him but nowhere near any of the above. Slow but improving runner, misses wide open receivers all the time and will never be a 65% thrower. If Emory Jones is accurate you gotta go with his speed and running ability to be able to run Mullen’s offense better than Frank’s in my humble opinion.

First, “Leaves for the N.F.L.”? BOOM!!!! I just fell to the floor. Felipe Franks will NEVER EVERRRRRR play in the N.F.L.

He’s good but, is NOT accurate and is not quick enough to play in Mullen’s system. Look at Dak Prescott’s or Fitzgerald’s stats in his system and Frank’s. Nowhere near as close especially running.
