Redshirt year be damned - if Florida really wants to not just win this year, but help prep for the future, I would give Feleipe Franks a couple of series a game from here on out. Say going into the game, no matter the score or situation, he is going to get series 3 and 6 or 3, 5 and 8.
Something like that.
First, if it was cut and dry that Austin Appleby is heads and shoulders better than Franks, why have them compete for two days?
If they are really that close right now, if Franks is seen as game ready, then give him some snaps.
I know there are those who don't want to waste a redshirt because they are of the opinion that they hate to lose an entire year. My take on it is is that if he is ultra successful in 17 and 18, he would still be eligible (and maybe likely) to go early.
Also, start pointing out all the successful fifth year senior quarterbacks across the country.
If kids are that good, they don't stay five years anyway.
