I was 7 for 1996 and then 17 to 19 for the 2006-2008 titles, now I’m 36.
I think part of me truly felt this might never happen again after so much bad luck and faltering in both sports. To those of us who love the Gators as much as most of us do, it’s a tough thought. Then this team just kept getting better and better and then all of a sudden we’re heading to San Antonio and winning it all.
I got to sit near the Gators’ bench for both games, throw Handlogten a beer on the river, got a wink from Todd as I silently pointed at him and raised a beer to him as they passed by on their boat. Just an incredible weekend surrounded by the best fans in the country and it still feels surreal.
Truly great to be a Florida Gator.
