Dan Mullen's SEC East predictions...

Our cross-divisional games are brutal. We can beat UK and/or UT and still finish behind them.

Tennessee catches LSU this season in addition to their Bama game but they do get us and KY at home. KY gets the Miss schools but catches us and TN on the road. Not sure who has the best situation. KY obviously would I think if the head to head games were not both on the road.

Everytime I see Mullen on the SEC Network nowadays he has this embarassed-shameful look on his face. He can't escape the fact he messed up a top-tier program in one year. Personally, I believe it's killing him inside.

Lot of people picking UK to finish second. Both of our first two SEC games (UF and Ole Miss) are on the road. Win both of those, and I think a second-place finish would be within reach. I think the ordering of 2-5 could play out in a number of ways. I would agree with 1, 6, and 7.

In even-numbered years, we play UGA, USC, Vandy, and State at home, and UF, UT, Mizzou, and rotating SECW team on the road (Ole Miss this year). In odd numbered years, we get rotating SECW team at home - In 2023 we get to host Bama.

I think Ole Miss takes a step back this year. No earthly idea what to think of us, but I am glad we will have played a tough opponent prior to UK game. No illusions of grandeur by roughing up a cupcake.

Just not sure what to think of Dan Mullen. He’s a darn good coach when he is “all in” and committed but he isn’t that interested in recruiting and he just threw in the towel and quit and lost interest. But he’s a much better coach than Muschamp or McElwain. He probably is better off at a lower level P5 school or maybe even an NFL OC.

Mullen is stubborn and too loyal to guys and doesn't recruit well...X's and O's...guy is a genius on offense and he really gets the most out of players. He can really call a game. Things didn't work out, I wish him well....oh an he was wrong about Utah lol

Still befuddled that Mullen didn’t work out at Florida…we had it going and wound up in a ditch…it will be forever perplexing…

In any event…it seems like we are in a good place now…
I'd like to take this moment to point something out I said years ago, because there had been talk about Napier being a Mac disciple.

there was nothing bad about the offensive scheme Mac ran, it was terribly executed.

Billy runs the same thing Mac did and Jimbo does (at a base level, I'm not going to get that in depth with it) but Napier calls the game much better.

Also, Mullen not working out and being perplexing is where I was with Muschamp. In 4 years he signed, I think, 4 offensive lineman? And it was like 2 one year, 2 in another.

How can your philosophy be "dominate the line of scrimmage and control the clock" when you're not signing OL? How can that ever work?

Also, don't tell Derrick Henry you see him as a LBer when he makes it perfectly clear he wants to come to Florida but he wants to be a running back.....what're we doing?

lol...Muschamp was horrible at bringing in the proper amount of guys. Maybe you don't get the guys that you want but that big of a shortage on the O Line is terrible.

He was a great hire. You shoulda given him more time.

I have tbh, I thought he was doing well until the collapse last yr. He took a spiraling UF team and raised the floor to 8 or 9 wins. Last yr... I just dont understand it. A close loss to Kentucky seemed to just spiral him and then he had weird comments before and after the games "its not recruiting season", etc. I would have bet that last yr he would have won 9 or 10 games with this yr being a chance at winning the SEC.

He kept the DC way too long imo, kind of what Fisher did at FSU at the end, wouldn't fire his friends and replace them with better coaches. It was weird.

Should have given Ray Goff more and more time. He did get a win in 1989 vs Florida along with that stupid jacket he wore with his name on it vs Florida in 1991, Coach Goff. I thought only Pop Warner coaches wore that kind of jacket.

See, you’re getting the hang of it.

Mullen was doomed the minute he decided to bring Grantham with him. Mullen is a great X's and O's guy but not a solid recruiter. Then you basically your lieutenant coach can't recruit at all. Can't have the two top coaches not be able to recruit. He put up a couple of 10 win seasons with a deeper roster but once he had to rely on his own recruits you saw the results.

Catching LSU lately isn't that bad of a thing...unless it's UF, we find a way to lose to LSU when they are bad.
