"The simple fact is that 40 to 50 percent, at low estimate, of all deaths in the European Union from COVID-19 have occurred at nursing homes; the same is true in California. Had the authorities properly protected nursing homes, the infection fatality rate across the industrialized world could be half of the current rate.

It is also true that the infection fatality rate for COVID-19 ranges widely by age: As of late April, of the 37,308 deaths recorded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, just 1,036 were people under the age of 45, and just 51 were below the age of 25.

Even among younger populations, the vast majority of deaths were people with underlying conditions. Israeli scientists suggest that protecting the elderly and the vulnerable and then allowing herd immunity to develop among the least vulnerable would radically reduce overall mortality (by over 40 percent), reduce the maximum number of people in need for ICUs (by over 60 percent) and decrease the time required to allow freedom to low-risk populations by months.

This is obviously not a foolproof strategy -- there is no foolproof strategy. But it may be a better strategy than simply hoping for the best while watching the world economy implode, even as we know that our deepest hopes for a deus ex machina may go unrewarded."

The Avalanche Strategy

Victor Davis Hanson said Tuesday that Americans will increasingly reject a “one-size-fits-all" approach that keeps the economy shut down in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

“Just three states: Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey account for about 55 percent of all the [coronavirus-related] deaths and, yet, they only have about 11 percent of the population,” the senior fellow at the Hoover Institution told “Ingraham Angle.”

Hanson said that, on the other hand, California, Texas and Florida account for 30 percent of the United States population, but have far fewer deaths.

“They’re just radically different situations and this one-size-fits-all just doesn’t work … We need to focus on [Massachusetts, New York, and New Jersey] and ask ourselves why 11 or 12 percent of the population has suffered 55 percent of the fatalities. Is it the weather? Population density? Is it elevators or subways?”

It has to be sanitation/sterilization issues coupled with substandard care. The elderly are herded like livestock in some of these facilities and the staff is underpaid/understaffed/ambivalent to the safety protocols that must be implemented to prevent staph or viral infections.

This was never about public safety. If it was, you isolate the most vulnerable, put extra precautions in place to protect them, and put common sense practices in place for everyone else (washing hands at work, being mindful to avoid groups if possible, covering your mouth when sneezing, etc), and life goes on.

Sheep have never been able to explain this one: We were told that going out in public and congregating in large groups is one of the biggest risk factors in catching and spreading corona flu.

If that's the case, why didn't they shut down Walmart? Damn sheep, use your freaking brain.

The answer will depend on your health. I’m sure most young healthy people will be fine with it. Older, overweight people or those with non life threatening preexisting conditions won’t. I don’t think anyone has the political willpower to implement it, although it may indeed be the best solution.

In a letter to Gov. Doug Ducey of Arizona, the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) presents a frequently updated table of studies that report results of treating COVID-19 with the anti-malaria drugs chloroquine (CQ) and hydroxychloroquine (HCQ, Plaquenil®).

To date, the total number of reported patients treated with HCQ, with or without zinc and the widely used antibiotic azithromycin, is 2,333, writes AAPS, in observational data from China, France, South Korea, Algeria, and the U.S. Of these, 2,137 or 91.6 percent improved clinically. There were 63 deaths, all but 11 in a single retrospective report from the Veterans Administration where the patients were severely ill.

Additional benefits shown in some studies, AAPS states, is to decrease the number of days when a patient is contagious, reduce the need for ventilators, and shorten the time to clinical recovery.

As the letter to Gov. Ducey notes, “Many nations, including Turkey and India, are protecting medical workers and contacts of infected persons prophylactically. According to worldometers.info, deaths per million persons from COVID-19 as of Apr 27 are 167 in the U.S., 33 in Turkey, and 0.6 in India.”

Vaccines and results of randomized double-blind controlled trials of new drugs are at best months away. But patients are dying now, while affordable, long-used drugs would be available except for (Rat) government restrictions, AAPS states.

The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) has represented physicians of all specialties in all states since 1943. The AAPS motto is omnia pro aegroto, meaning everything for the patient.

PS

HCQ is available for use in Florida, and as I've long said, IF I came down with Co-V I'd demand HCQ.

Nancy Pil-Lo-See is leading the Dim-Moe-Rats in blocking an investigation on U.S. funding of the Wuhan lab.-- Did the Dem-Moe-Rats fund the 'accidental' release of the Co-V after their 2 FAILED COUP attempts, to sabotage Trumps economic boom as their last or next resort? --- Socialists George Soros and his buddy Bill Gates funded the startup of the Wuhan lab. Where is the 'freakin' in-Justice Dept???
