So, literally, what redeeming quality is it that he brings as a head coach? Rip me all you want, McElwain apologists, but the dude sucks and will never be the answer here.

Zook had his faults, but at least his offenses were above average to good and he could recruit his tail off, and Muschamp had his faults, but he could recruit on defense and left McElwain a ton of talent.

Who is the next big coaching prospect out there? Because it's clear as day that Mac isn't going to cut it.

But we won the East. Back to back at that. Give him a lifetime extension.

The offense has even managed to get WORSE since McElwain got here than it ever was under Muschamp. Like, how is that even possible? Lmao. The one thing he was hired to improve from the previous coach, and it's actually gotten worse. Meanwhile, Muschamp and Roper have looked halfway competent on offense since they got to South Carolina. I'm convinced there is something in the water in Gainesville.

Yup you guys are not very good. I would blame Mac. Out-coached against a not very good Michigan team.

yeah so get rid of him stricklin

Thought you were calling Stricklin a loser. Nevermind. Carry on with the Mac bashing! He certainly deserves it. Absolutely no sympathy from me at all. Dude comes in claiming he could win with his dog at QB at his opening presser and then proceeds to put offenses even worse than Muschamp on the field.

What is it now...2-7 against ranked teams? And average margin of defeat is 3 scores in those losses. The dude gets embarrassed by any halfway competent team and barely escapes bad teams. Usually when you hire a guy who's a 'guru' on one side of the ball that side of the ball is good even when other parts suck. We saw that with Muschamp and his defense. But Mac is an offensive guy whose offense is hot garbage and at a time when it's never been easier to score. All the rules favor offense and it's a miracle when we break 200 yards.

Florida looked outmatched athletically.

If only we had someone who could recruit... Jesus. McElwain is the worst hire in years, man. Y-E-A-R-S. How the hell can you not recruit at Florida? I absolutely despise this man as a head coach, he is utterly horrible. Can't coach, can't recruit, doesn't even give a good presser. Useless.

How about we just pick up another Saban acolyte... bc, you know. They are the best and only way to coach winning football.

I thought he was starting to recruit better this year. Be interesting to see how that class holds up if Florida struggles

Our recruiting is doing pretty well

Seems so now. Not necessarily so the past two classes. Holes all over the place. We'd do well one place then neglect another area completely. We had walk on Christian Garcia out there getting snaps at LB today. That should never happen at UF in a coaches 3rd year.

the interiors of both Florida's lines are bad. I said before the season that I wasn't buying the "improved" OL talk. One year older does not mean better. Lot's of teams going to be able to run right at UF this year.

I had read reports from practice thatit was all talk and they hadn't looked very good

The interior DL was bad? Hmmmm.....maybe because we signed 1 DT in his first two classes? His recruiting is starting to show. And his OL is 8 3* recruits and Ivey, not a mystery why we can't play top teams. FSU is going to absolutely destrpy us with their defense

He looked totally lost and disconnected yesterday. Definitely should have stayed at a smaller school. This stage appears way too big for him.

He is the Driskel of coaches, just looks lost and like the game is too fast for him. No ability yo make adjustments, he trots his team out there and then just watches. Its kinda sad

He's not an SEC guy. He's a midwesterner with no passion, no fire and no personality. The team takes on the personality of your head coach.

There's just no energy or no sense of urgency. I'll be honest ever since he ripped Kelvin Taylor a new one he hasn't been the same coach.

We went from a psycho in Muschamp to a dead beat. We went from one side of the scale all the way to the other side.

Mac is insecure. And a phony. All the signs were there initially with all his bragging about how his offense would be a sight to behold and he could win with his dog blah, blah, blah. He's the type of person who talks his way into a job despite not having any results whatsoever. Then he gets defensive in press conferences when people ask him why the offense isn't performing by saying things like "we won the East didn't we?" and then trying to make it out as if fans who aren't happy with the offense are unsatisfied with winning the East like the two are mutually exclusive. Maybe that's why players like LDR talk about the fans the way he does, the HC treats the fans and media with the same disrespect.

I was on alert year 1 when he said publicly he wasn't changing his offense and the QB would have to get used to it. What kind of good coach says something like that? And it's not like he had any reason NOT to change anything, he had ONE QB on the roster at that point, there wasn't anybody else. So if you're not willing to change you're saying you care more about your system than you do winning. No good coaches operate that way. Everybody thought it was some huge defense of Treon but I said the exact same things in earlier games with Grier. Mac walks around with misplaced arrogance. He acts like he's Saban just because he coached under him. Of course the irony in all of this is two years later he bends over backwards to get Zaire here who is in the same mold as the QB he wouldn't change his system for, just to trot the same shit out there. Does that seem like a man who has any clue wtf he's doing?

Don't forget he had TWO QB's if you count Graddy. That's two QB',s with similar skill set and an offense not designed to match them.

Yes, this kind of heat after ine game is a clear indicator their is trouble. Add to it this is just another distraction. TOS is all homers and they have all jumped ship. Champ never lost support like this

Huh? You have a short term memory. Chump sure as hell lost support just like this. The Missouri and Vandy blowout home losses immediately come to mind and of course the Georgia Southern game. That Missouri blowout loss at home was just as bad if not worse than the loss to Georgia Southern.

And that was late in year 3. Mac isn't going to have an ounce of aupport all year. He lost the fans, the media is criticizing and mocking him. The players don't wven play hard for him. Add to it this on going suspension mess and honestly, the injuries and GaSouthern game seem like a cake walk. At least he produced defenses, Mac can't even field a better offense than The lower tier schools who are outmatched these early weeks. And he is the offensive and QB guru

I actually did not think our kids looked outmatched athletically, save a few sequences on the line, especially as the second half wore on, and those kids wore out.

Looked emotionally overmatched. And QB agony, I mean that Franks fumble when he could have simply fallen for a first down and instead bounced it out, slowed down, failed to get first down yardage and fumbled anyway, was agonizing.

Who does that? He is a redshirt freshman...doing that was weird and beyond the scope and somewhat typical of what has been seen for twenty plus games now...failure to pay attention to details.
