Clemson vs LSU

With a TD drive to open the 2nd half, LSU would have over 400 yards of offense and be up 34/35 to 17, double Clempy's score. Once this LSU offense gets it's groove going, it's nearly impossible. Clempy came out at the start and was doing well in letting them go nowhere, but it didn't take a full quarter of play for LSU to figure out Veneble's gameplan. Now they are just picking Clemp apart, so long as they don't get to JoeB, it's a dagger on just about every play.

What surprises me is Clemp started off great on offense but is getting worse as they go along. Is that due to LSU's defense starting to figure them out in return? Surprised they basically got shutdown in 2nd quarter.

Clemson started quick but have taken a step back. LSU's defense has taken over and their offense is making big plays. Crazy game. IMO it could go either way. I think the 3rd quarter might tell the tale. We'll see

Its like LSU adjusted much better in game. Clemson got worse on offense and defense

Clemson came out with swagger and confidence, LSU a little tentative. But the better team has got it going and looked very impressive the last 10-12 minutes of the 1st half. Clemson will be a hard out, though, so LSU can't let up the 2nd half.

Well just like Ed yawyawyaw said at the start of the game, all the game planning goes out the window when you first get hit. At that point its all technique and fundamentals. I thought Clemp came out with a VERY good gameplan to start. It truly looked like they could just run away with the game early on there and put it out of reach by halftime. That seemed a given considering how damn slow they started against Buttgrabber U in the semifinal, and I knew that Dabo would want to come out on fire, not get down 16-0 again. Well they did it but so far, LSU is doing LSU as everyone pretty much expected.

Better come up with a scheme to cut down the allowed deep passes and QB runs.
Well early on Clemp was draped on LSU's receivers bigtime on every play. Now LSU is getting just enough separation to make the deep catches. Get enough of those sprinkled in with the quick slants and crosses when Burrow is pressured, and there's not much Clemp can do.

At the very end of the day, the only way Clempson was going to win this game was to outscore LSU. They haven't scored anything but a long field goal in their last 4 or 5 possessions. That's a losing game plan there. They might need to start gambling and going on it on 4th downs here in the 3rd quarter if LSU scores on the opening drive. Every single possession left in the game is critical to Clemp. They cannot afford to punt even one more time because at this point they aren't stopping LSU. Not until they change it up and PROVE they can stop LSU at any rate. I don't think they should have punted as easily as they did on their last drive of the 2nd quarter. They were beyond the 50, and giving the ball to LSU on the 5 or on the 45 really doesn't matter if you can't stop them. That's 1 or 2 good passing plays for LSU.

Yeh that second TD pass the DB was there it was just perfect placement and great hands by Chase. Not much you can do against that combination.

sadgator knows stuff...
Now that I live in SC, learning all sorts of new sh*t.....did you know American BBQ was first done on the beaches of SC by Spaniards? And apparently the first European settlements (forts) were in SC (Spanish and French, St. Helena?). They weren't continuous like St. Augustine obviously. Charleston was settled by Bermudians, originally from England.

I read wikipedia in my free time, lol. Love it.

Ok so that targeting call... How does it not matter that a defender is below and he hit the shoulder. I typically agree with targeting calls but man... Thats tough. The clemson LB dove over his own player

I have no problem with targeting calls. I do have a problem with the perp walk back to the locker room til the end of the game. These are kids, make them get out of pads and support their team on the sidelines.
