Won't be too much longer now to see how this season ends and if we are going to be dancing or not. I definitely jumped the gun a while back thinking we were probably safe after that WV win. If there are no makeup games our final 4 regular season games don't have anyone that would really be a nice win now that Missouri has collapsed and with KY's issues. I see some #8 seed projections currently but don't see how we would make the field finishing 1-3 with that remaining schedule. 2-2 I think would get us in but a 1st game loss in the SECT could make it interesting possibly. Finishing 1-3 would really make it tough to play our way in and might take an appearance in the final SEC game. I think going 2-1 in the SEC tourney would probably require a Bama, Arkansas or Tenn (if they don't fall apart down the stretch) win also.

If Mike White doesn't learn how to shoot the ball better, then it's over....

Mann, Locke, and Appleby combined to go just 11 of 34 from the floor and 3-for-18 from distance against Arkansas.

Florida can't gain much in their NET rating by beating Georgia, Auburn and Kentucky, since all 3 teams have very low NET ratings. But losses to any of these will hurt UF's NET rating. I'm just loving watching 3 Gator programs who continually compete for SEC and national titles - gymnastics, softball and baseball.

Do you agree Coach White should be canned if this team doesn't make the Sweet 16?

As SOS would say, need to coach them up better....players tend to play as they are coached...

mom going to tell you right now his answer is no.

actually....his answer will be that they should fire everybody.
Start over, but I'm not dropping tears when you get paid millions. We had a few great seasons but it's not headed in the right direction. Win a couple big games, when I look at it we aren't playing great. It's a Muschamp hire to me. Maybe I'm wrong.

Alright Insta I just saw where Coach White told the press he thinks he has figured out one of the big issues with this team - in the Arkansas game at least.

He seems to be saying its players taking poor ill advised shots and the rest of the players feeding off of that "Heck, you just took that one and I was open, now it's my turn to take one.' And obviously championship teams don't do that."

That is clearly a problem with a lack of discipline on the team. Isn't the coach responsible for players being undisciplined?

Gators squarely on the bubble, which is the norm under White. Need to go 3-1 in these last 4 and pick up one win in SECT. Anything short of that we are in trouble.

Alright we are blowing GA out now and need to keep the foot on the pedal in the 2nd half.

KY upset TN and appears to be playing a little better these past couple of weeks. That won't be easy going in there and beating them now.

I'm watching my first BB game of the 20-21 season today. My take? Florida's got talent but is horrible at taking care of the ball, too careless and don't pass enough, get trapped constantly. As for UGA, they not only lick their balls, they've got a horrible basketball team.:p

Listening to it. Let's see how it finishes. We're 10-6, we need to win today

I'm watching Gator baseball in an 8-8 tie with Miami bottom 11th. Blew an 8-3 lead in the last 3 innings, gave up 3 runs in the top of the 9th by walking 5 and hitting 1. As for basketball, we have 8 assists on 14 turnovers, a trademarks of Mike White teams the last few years. Just sloppy with the ball. They should hang on to beat a bad Georgia team, but we're not a very good team considering the amount of talent.

Takes over a losing non-Tourney 16 win team. He get 21 wins and makes it to the NIT Quarter-final without any of his earn home games in his 1st year.

Then he makes the Big Dance every year after that, with never a 1 & Done, which means at least a Top 32 in the Nation finish. Fire this bum, cause the previous coach won 2 NC's in 19 years before bailing out to the NBA after a 16 win losing season....

As to what the haters want to believe about this years team....

Florida is currently a projected 7 Seed. Avoiding a loss to Georgia likely puts a floor for Florida's seeding somewhere around the 9 seed, even with a poor close to the year. But a handful of wins to close out the campaign could see Florida jump a few seed lines.

5 star UF "bust" Andrew Nembhard is now playing extremely well for #1 Gonzaga. 5 star Scottie Lewis has regressed and at this point is more of a liability on the court than a leading talent. I wouldn't be surprised to see him transfer out after the season and become a real star somewhere else. We're in year 6 of Mike White's career at Florida and he's had 1 stellar season, primarily with Billy Donovan's recruits. He has won NOTHING and has rarely even challenged for an SEC title. We had 20 turnovers against a bad Georgia team and for the season we have 209 assist and 251 turnovers. This team, as in all other White teams except the one that went to the Final 4, has been characterized by inconsistency. Regardless of the fact that he gets in the tournament along with 67 other teams every year and wins his 1st game, that's simply not good enough for THE University of Florida. No other coach at UF can or should go this long not winning a title of some kind without being on the hot seat. Billy Donovan not only won 2 national titles, he won 6 regular season SEC titles, 4 SEC tournament titles, made 4 Final 4 appearances and 3 more Elite 8 runs, with 16 straight years of 20+ wins, which ended with his final season in Gainesville. Donovan was a coach who took his teams to championships and even when they didn't win them they were routinely in contention. That is nowhere near where our basketball program is now, nor where it should be. At least that is my humble opinion.

I agree with most of your comments except for Nembhard. He’s an average player at best. We don’t miss him. He’s a backup PG at Gonzaga and looks no different than he did here. He’s just on a better team. He wouldn’t start at PG here either as Mann is better.

You serious? Unless White has a
breakthrough and at least makes the Sweet 16 he has underachieved big time except for that 2nd season.

Here's an example of the 5-6 year threshhold for UF coaches. Becky Burleigh started the Gator soccer program in 1995 and is one of the winningest coaches in UF history as well as one of the winningest soccer coaches in NCAA history. She won a national title, made the NCAA tourney 22 of her 25 seasons, won 14 SEC regular season titles and 12 SEC tournament championships. Yet no titles since 2015-16. So, classy lady that she is, Burleigh is stepping down from her position after this winter season ends. She recognizes the program needs new blood to lead it and I admire her so much for what she did in building UF soccer, but more importantly in putting the university and the soccer program first. Hopefully the AD will seek out a coach with the zeal, recruiting skills and ability to get us back on top in the SEC.

Lon Kruger did things here that no one had done before but he ripped it we me with his comments on UF.

Like I said, again on the bubble. 2 years ago we shouldn't have made the tourney and had to wait and see, and last year was going to be a hold your breath...again....just like this year will be.

Yep Sloan had a little success but I dont think we made it past the Sweet 16 with him and then the probation.

I dont remember what comments Kruger made exactly after leaving but do remember him being mad Vince Carter wouldnt stay in FL and implying it was because UF and the fans didnt take basketball serious enough.

I did like him taking that tournament loss to UF soon after he left. I think it may have been the year we lost in the championship game. Kruger must be close to a record for most coaching gigs as his current stop at OK is about the only place he has stayed more than a few years.

I generally don’t get involved in anyone taking Insta to task; but I see Florida being pretty much locked with a current Top 30 NET

It does look to be a soft bubble but if we go 1-2 in the next 3 we will be sweating things out a little I think. The one year the NET was used so far a team was left out in the low 30s. That NET ranking has some crazy results sometimes just like the RPI does. I think with our schedule and wins a top 35 NET would probably be a lock to get in however.

I'm now converted and convinced. 🤓
Fire the sorry asses of every UF coach that didn't at least win an SEC-C this last season.
And even that is really not good enough if they haven't won a NC in the last 5 years.

Socialist-U should always be #1 in every sport, it's what the fans deserve. If they can't win any other way, then screw their academics and worrying about NCAA violations, because WINNING is definitely ALL THAT MATTERS now daze....

Happy now?

Why would he need to cheat when he has landed many top recruits?

Lets see 6 years and 0-6 against FSU
No regular season SEC championship
No SEC tournament championship as of now
Only 4th in Sec win % over the last 3 years after better results his first years

He is basically living off that Elite 8 appearance and the goodwill on that has run out.

Nembhard WAS a 5-star recruit, so a lot of people thought he was a top tier player. He was recruited and offered by a ton of major D1 schools (Baylor, UConn, Missouri, Oklahoma, Villanova, Seton Hall, Virginia Tech & Stanford and took visits to Gonzaga, Southern Cal & Ohio State before finally signing with Florida. At the time Nembhard was a huge get for Mike White. He was a starter on the Canadian teams for U-16, U-17 & U-18 that played in the International Basketball Federation tournaments, plus was on the senior national Canadian team for the 2019 Word Cup. As a freshman he had the 4th highest assist total for a freshman in UF history and made the All-SEC freshman team. His sophomore year he led the SEC in assist/turnover ratio. He was a better-than-average player, although you're entitled to your opinion. I just think he either wasn't a good fit for the Gator team or Mike White didn't know how to mix his skills and strengths with those of the rest of the team. At Gonzaga, he's started 7 of their 22 games, but is 3rd on the team in minutes played at 27.6. He's leading them in assists with 96 to go with only 26 turnovers. He's shooting 48% from the field, 81% from the free throw line, is 5th on their team in scoring, 6th in rebounds and 3rd in steals. He's surrounded by really good players, but he was surrounded by really good players at Florida. The difference, to me, is Mark Few vs. Mike White.

He isn’t doing any better for Mark Few than he is for Mike White. Highly recruited player that didn’t live up to his billing or expectations. Few is a very good coach but a Nembhard really isn’t playing any better now. He is who he is. An average player. I do agree that White seems to struggle with the development of players

Nem played a different (slow/deliberate) type of ball, which did not fit in with the fans demands for a fast high scoring game, so the fans ran him off. Mike didn't bench him, HE CHOSE to leave a place that didn't want him, and I can't blame him. Mike should take note and do the same and resign today, and the same goes for Grantham among others, like Hevesy (OL) and Robinson (LB). Their units in 2020 proves that they are clueless coaches that need to be gone today.

And instead of the UAA or the AD choosing coaches, they should allow the fans to submit names and then have a Socialist-Democratic vote on who gets hired. That would then allow the UAA and the AD to snivel and whine about the fans idiot hiring choices....

Why be so old fashioned and conservative about how things are done. Change is always a good thing....

bruh...Insta is now arguing that Mike White's slow, deliberate (debatable) offense isn't a problem, and that the fans made him leave.

Dunnygoater, IF that last post was aimed at me, you missed. You're on ignore for just always being your village idiot self.
You'll have to continue to amuse/abuse yourself by keeping your hands in the other twits pockets.
BTW, glad you moved the F outta the state. Please never come back....

Nice game on defense and Mann had a big game also. I think we are probably in now even if we collapsed and lost 3 straight games but if we could beat KY and Mizzu we could be looking at a really nice seed.

NO... Just stop it fevered brain.
Mike is a terrible coach that needs firing right now, cause the gatordud says so.

So butthurt...

Playing for a chance at a 5 or 6 seed now which is a lot better path to the Sweet 16 than a 7 or 8 seed. Will need Mann and Castleton to have good games as KY has some pretty tall guys Castleton will need to play good defense against.
